Her efforts were supported by senior Chloe Bissen (SBHS) with her 4th place finish in the 100 yard Butterfly and 6th place finish in the 200 yard Individual Medley.

Caralee Fellner (freshman-SEV) also helped assist the team, bringing in an additional four points with her 15th-place finish in both the 50-yard Freestyle and the 100-yard Breaststroke.

The 200-yard Medley Relay contributed to the team score, adding 30 points. Quinn Sperber (sophomore-SDHS), Monofils, Bissen, and Kailyn Neville (senior-SDHS) made up the 4th place relay.

The DCU Swim Team travels to Shawano High School to take on the Shawano Bonduel Co-Op for their next conference meet on Thursday, October 2nd.

Mistakes Lead to Homecoming Heartbreak for Eagles

Southern Door fell in their homecoming football matchup with Oconto 23-20 on Friday night in Brussels on U102.1.

The first quarter would be scoreless, but that was only in part to a big defensive stand by the Eagle defense. The forced the Blue Devils to punt on the opening drive, but William Price would mishandle the punt, allowing Oconto to take over 1st and goal.  On 4th and goal, Lance Veeser would record a sack, and give the Eagles a little breathing room.  Veeser, and a return of a (mostly) healthy Landon Vandertie would lead a Eagle defense to limit the damage done by 4 different Eagle turnovers.

A chaotic second quarter would open with the Eagle's running back Raymond Paye rushing for a 14-yard score, and with a missed extra point attempt, found the Eagles up 6-0.  Oconto would answer with a pair of rushing touchdowns by Finn Brady and a 6-14 lead.  The teams would swap scores from there, Paye from 42 yards out, and Brady from 15 setting the score to 14-20.  In the closing seconds of the half, Southern Door would find themselves with a goal to go situation, but after a sack and no way to stop the clock, watched time run out on the half.

The third quarter was as quiet as the first, entering the fourth still set at 14-20.  Oconto would only be able to add a 20-yard field goal to go up 14-23.  The Eagles would get the ball with under 5 minutes to go, needing 2 scores.  They would march down the field in less than 2 minutes, capping the drive with a 21-yard toss from Tallon Mueller to Lauden Berg on the sideline in the endzone. A failed 2-point run by Mueller left the Eagles trailing by 3, but with a full slew of timeouts available.

Defense would give the Eagles a chance, giving the Eagles the ball back with a pair of timeouts yet available.  Sadly it was not meant to be for the Eagles, as the pressure would get to Tallon Mueller on fourth down forcing a turnover with just over a minute to go.

The Eagles next matchup will come on Friday October 3rd against Kewaunee.  You can tune is as Jacob Nate will take you through the action, beginning with a 6:45 pregame show, and a 7:00pm kickoff on U102.1 and NEW Radio Sports Network.

Southern Door battles Oconto for Homecoming on U102.1

The 2-3 Southern Door Eagles hope to ride the momentum of last week's win as they host the 1-4 Oconto Blue Devils for their 2025 Homecoming game on U102.1 and NEW Radio Sports Network.

The Eagles are coming off a 22-6 victory over the Peshtigo Bulldogs. The only score the Eagles gave up came on the opening kickoff, when they allowed an 80-yard touchdown return. Tallon Mueller found Raymond Paye on the next drive to tie the game at 6-6. Mueller was partially responsible for the other 2 Southern Door touchdowns, finding Lauden Berg and Eli Jaden for a touchdown and two-point conversion in the first half and a 6-yard QB keeper to close out the scoring.

Oconto is coming off a 36-0 victory over Sturgeon Bay last week.

As part of the Homecoming week festivities, the students were treated to a Powder Puff game on Tuesday night and dress-up days throughout the week across the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools.  Friday morning, the Southern Door Alumni Hall of Fame will induct its four newest members. To go along with the Friday night game, there will be a pre-game bonfire, beginning at 6:00, an introduction of the homecoming court at halftime, and post-game fireworks shortly after the game ends. The homecoming dance is Saturday evening.

Join Jacob Nate as he takes you through the game, beginning with the 6:45 pregame and a 7:00 kickoff on U102.1 and NEW Radio Sports Network.

Eagles Volleyball Welcoming Storm

The Southern Door Eagles volleyball team is set to host the Kewaunee Storm this Thursday. The Kewaunee Storm enters the game with considerable momentum, fresh off a 3-0 victory against Sturgeon Bay. They will be looking to carry that winning energy into this upcoming contest. On the other side of the net, the Southern Door Eagles are returning from a Saturday tournament. They concluded the tournament on a high note, securing a hard-fought 2-1 win against Valders in their final game.

Eagle's Victorious Over Peshtigo 22-6 on U-102.1

The Southern Door Eagles did not give up a defensive point and defeat the Peshtigo Bulldogs 22-6 on Friday night on U102.1

The game started the same as last week for the Eagle's...giving up a opening kickoff return for a touchdown.  That would be where the similarities ended.  The extra point was missed, and with it, so did Bulldog scoring.  The following drive, Tallon Mueller would lead the Eagle offense down the field and cap off the drive with a 9-yard Raymond Paye touchdown.  The extra point would be missed as well leaving the game tied 6-6 at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, the Eagles would take their first lead since week 2.  On 4th and goal from the 10, Mueller would find Lauden Berg in the corner of the endzone for the touchdown and find Eli Jaden at the back of the endzone for the successful 2-point try to go up 14-6.  The Eagles would take that lead into the half.

Only a single touchdown would be added for either team in the second half.  That would come in the third quarter, when Mueller would cut through the Bulldog defense on a 6-yard touchdown run. The 2-point conversion would be good to set the score at the final 22-6.

While the Eagle's did find their offense this night, what may be the bigger impact was the defensive effort.  On 5 different Bulldog drives, the Eagles would force turnover on downs, as well end another fourth quarter drive with an interception

Southern Door will ride this momentum into next weeks homecoming matcup with Oconto.  That game can be heard on U102.1 with Jacob Nate, starting with the 6:45 PM pregame show, and a 7:00 PM kickoff on Friday September 26th.

Eagles Volleyball Soars to Clintonville Tournament

The Southern Door Eagles volleyball team is set to compete in a highly anticipated tournament this Saturday in Clintonville. Joining Southern Door will be Iola-Scandinavia, Laona-Webeno, Ripon, Shawano Community, St. Mary’s Catholic, and Valders. This tournament provides a crucial opportunity for the Eagles to regroup after a hard-fought match against Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, where they ultimately fell short in a grueling five-set battle. Despite the outcome, individual performances highlighted the team's potential. Senior Alanah Kaye delivered a strong offensive showing, contributing 7 kills, an ace, and assisting on a block. On the defensive end, Chelsia Jacquet was a dominant force at the net, leading the team with an impressive 5 total blocks. Furthermore, senior Alanna Paye anchored the back row with 18 digs, showcasing her defensive instincts.

Kewaunee's Miller, Southern Door girls win Crusader Invitational

The Crusader Challenge cross country meet on Tuesday brought together several area programs, including Southern Door, Kewaunee, Algoma, and Gibraltar, with Sheboygan Lutheran hosting. Once again, Kewaunee’s Hannah Miller stole the spotlight, claiming first place in the girls’ 5,000-meter race with a sub-20-minute performance of 19:36. Despite Miller’s win, the Storm settled for second place in the team standings with 88 points, just behind Southern Door’s 72.

Southern Door’s depth proved crucial, placing three runners in the top 12 to secure the team title. Emma Bousley (7th, 21:08.40) led the way, followed by freshmen Malaina Veeser (10th, 21:31.90) and Skya Scrimgeour (12th, 21:59). Kewaunee’s Noelie El Kout added an 11th-place finish at 21:42.30.

In the boys’ races, Southern Door finished 11th with 309 points, while Kewaunee came in 19th at 462. Leading the way for the Eagles was Owen Larios Amezquita (23rd, 19:13.70). Gibraltar’s Graham Devoe also turned in a strong showing, finishing 39th in a field of 157.

Algoma and Gibraltar also competed but did not field full teams, as five runners are required for a team score.

With Miller continuing her dominance for Kewaunee and Southern Door’s young core rising quickly, both programs look poised to make postseason noise in the girls’ 5,000-meter race.

Eagles comeback to beat Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Saturday's matches

Southern Door had another tournament schedule Saturday, matching up with Winnebago Lutheran Academy twice as well as Portage. The Eagles dropped their first two matches (1-2 WLA, 0-2 Portage) but came back strong to finish the day with a two-set sweep (2-0) over the Vikings.

Eagles Fall to Marines 27-8 on U102.1

The Eagles could find the endzone late in the game, but it was not enough to take down the Marinette Marines 27-8 on U102.1, falling to 1-3 on the season.

The game started on a sour note for the Eagles.  After deferring the kickoff, they would find themselves trailing before a single offensive or defensive snap.  Marinette's return man, Braxton Polzin, would mishandle the kickoff at the twenty, but after chasing the loose ball down at the 1-yard line, take the ball 99 yards for a Marine touchdown.  There would be a glimmer of hope for the Eagles, though, as on the very first, the Marines would lose their starting running back, Mason Hofherr, to an ejection.

The Marines added a trio of rushing touchdowns from QB Chase Macgregor in the first, second, and fourth quarters, from 60, 1, and 2 yards, respectively. However, it was not a clean game. Three times throughout the game, MacGregor put the ball on the ground, but the Southern Door defense could not recover the fumbles.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Eagles finally found themselves in the endzone after being shut out last week. Caleb Delwiche found Lauden Berg for a 13-yard touchdown and the ensuing 2-point conversion. They recovered the ensuing onside kick but ended the drive as time expired with Caleb Delwiche throwing a desperation play interception.

Tune in next week as the Eagles visit the Peshtigo Bulldogs.  Join Jacob Nate for the pregame show starting at 6:45 PM on Friday, September 19th, with a kickoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.

On the boys side, the Eagles took fourth place as a team with 90 points. Owen Larios Amezquita with a time of 19:02, one of three Eagles to break 20 minutes in the race.

Eagles Shutout by Bears on U102.1

The Southern Door Eagles fell to 1-2 after being shut out against the Bonduel Bears on Friday night, 19-0 on U102.1.

The Eagles and Bears would shut each other down nearly the entire first half, with the first score of the game coming with just 20 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. Even then, it took a leaping, one-handed grab by the Bears WR Beckett Hartlaben in the back corner of the endzone to break the scoring.   Even though Southern Door's defense tallied both a fumble recovery and another Lauden Berg interception, the offense would not be able to find the end zone.

The second half started well for the Eagles when Landon Vandertie rushed them deep into Bear territory on the opening possession.  However, they would be turned away at the 10-yard line.  After that, the Eagles could not slow down the Bears' run game, allowing a pair of rushing touchdowns to the Bears' primary back, Carter Moesch, on back-to-back possessions.  Eagle QB Caleb Delwiche threw a pair of interceptions, but each was effectively a punt as they came on third and longs deep downfield.

Southern Door will be at home next week to face the Marinette Marines.  Join Jacob Nate on the call at 6:45 for pregame and the 7:00 pm kickoff.
