Southern Door girls pick up first win over Gibraltar

Searching for their first win, the Eagles have been close multiple times throughout the season and finally pulled it off against Gibraltar on Friday night.

The Vikings traveled to Brussels to take on the Eagles, but got off to a slow start and fell behind quickly. It was a lead for Southern Door at the break and they would never trail in the second half on their way to a 56-48 victory.

Finally, the Eagles break through and look to build towards 2026 as their next game will come January 5th at Kewaunee. For Gibraltar it's a date with Sturgeon Bay that same night, but an hour earlier at 6 p.m.

Eagles host Wolves on U102.1

The Southern Door Eagles are searching for their first win as they host the Algoma Wolves on Friday night on U102.1 in Brussels. Algoma is hoping to continue its chase for a Packerland Conference title, as the Wolves sit at 2-1 in conference play, good for second place behind Kewaunee.

The Eagles fell on the road to Sturgeon Bay in their last game. Leading the scoring for Southern Door was Lauden Berg with 14 points. Ryker Lohrey added six, and Talon Mueller contributed five. The Eagles struggled offensively, shooting just 30% from the field, 42% from the free-throw line and 14% from beyond the arc.

The Wolves are coming off an 81-45 victory over a shorthanded Sevastopol squad. Algoma was powered by two strong scoring performances from Braeden Leist (20 points, nine field goals, 2-for-3 free throws) and Parker Lischka (24 points, eight field goals, 2-for-4 free throws). For the Pioneers, Logan Schuh (10 points) and Andrew Wiesner (12) led the scoring with double-digit nights.

You can tune in for the action with Jacob Nate on U102.1 and NEW Radio Sports. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame, followed by the 7 p.m. tipoff.

Eagles girls' basketball taking on Wolves in Algoma

While the Wolves are coming off a 43-37 victory over Sevastopol. The Eagles have already faced Sevastopol, losing 42-38; both teams have also faced Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, both falling short.

The tip-off is at 7:00 PM.

Eagles and Clippers Face off on U102.1

The Southern Door Eagles will visit the Sturgeon Bay Clippers in an early-season Packerland Conference game on U102.1 Friday night.

The Eagles are still seeking their first win of the season but have only played two games. Southern Door last took the court a week ago in a Thursday night home game against Sevastopol, falling to the Pioneers for the first time in 17 years. The Eagles struggled with turnovers and gave up a dozen second-chance points. Talon Mueller, Eli Jaden, and Ryker Lohrey each scored nine for Southern Door.

The Clippers started the season 2-0 but have since dropped three games in a row. Most recently, Sturgeon Bay fell to Sevastopol on Tuesday night, coming up just two points short of completing a second-half rally in which they clawed back from an 11-point deficit. Ben Ash led the way for the Clippers with 21.

You can join Jacob Nate for the game from Sturgeon Bay starting with the 6:45 pregame show, followed by the 7:00 tipoff on U102.1 and the NEW Radio Sports Network.

Southern Door still searching for first win

Hosting Oconto Falls at home, the Southern Door girls dropped their sixth game of the season, 68-37.

The Eagles have struggled to provide consistent scoring and it continued as they trailed 30-12 after one half.

Slowly into the second half, they settled in a bit, but had already put themselves behind in a position that was too large to overcome. Southern Door carries a bit of youth on their roster so growing pains have been expected to start the season.

They'll stay at home in preparation for a matchup with Sturgeon Bay Thursday at 7 p.m.

Southern Door alum LeCaptain named Minnesota's Sportsmanship Award winner

Eagles girls' basketball hosting Panthers

The Southern Door girls’ basketball team is hosting the Oconto Falls Panthers this Tuesday. The Panthers look to build off their 39-26 victory over Marinette. While the Eagles are looking to bounce back from their last outing, falling short to Sevastopol 42-38.
