The Southern Door girls' basketball team got their tournament play off to a rough start on Friday afternoon, losing to their host for the weekend, Denmark, 66-23.

No other details were provided. They will play Two Rivers, which lost to Cedar Grove-Belgium 62-31 in the other Denmark Tournament matchup. The tip-off for the 3rd place game is noon.

A day after Thanksgiving turkeys were carved and hours after the first Black Friday sales commenced across northeast Wisconsin, the Southern Door Eagles girls basketball team will play their first of two games on the weekend.

Cedar Grove-Belgium, Denmark, and Two Rivers are scheduled to play. The first game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and the second follows at 7 p.m.

Days away from his final high school season, Southern Door's Drew Daoust announced where his first college season will take place.

On Saturday, Daoust took to X to announce that he will suit up for UW-Stevens Point next year.

Last year, the Pointers went 14-13, including a 7-7 mark in the WIAC. They will get instant offense in Daoust, who has averaged 28.2 points per game in his high school career, including over 32 points a game the past two years. He broke the Door County scoring last year during his junior season, and he is poised to break the 3000-point period late this season. 

The Eagles open their 2024-2025 campaign on December 5th against Peshtigo.
