Eagles' Season Comes to a Close Against New Holstein on U102.1

The Southern Door Eagles saw their season come to a close Tuesday, falling to the New Holstein Huskies in a WIAA regional matchup in Brussels.

The game, broadcast on U102.1, featured an early turning point for the Eagles. Ace pitcher Alanah Kaye, typically a steady presence in the circle, was lifted in the first inning in a rare move this season after New Holstein generated early offense and applied immediate pressure.

The Huskies capitalized on that momentum, pushing across runs in the opening frame to seize control. Southern Door worked to settle in defensively after the early change and kept the game within reach through the middle innings.

Offensively, the Eagles battled to respond, creating scoring chances and putting runners aboard, but were unable to string together the timely hits needed to fully erase the deficit. New Holstein’s pitching and defense limited the damage in key situations, preserving their advantage into the late innings.

Southern Door made a push down the stretch, but the comeback bid came up short as the Huskies closed out the run rule victory to advance, winning 14-4.

Despite the setback, the Eagles’ season ends with a strong body of work, highlighted by consistent performances and a deep postseason push.

Eagles Host Sectional Softball on U102.1

The Southern Door Eagles look to continue their hot streak as they play host to the New Holstein Huskies on Tuesday night in Brussels on U102.1.

The Eagles won the Regional championship behind strong pitching outings by Alanah Kaye, who struck out 13 Brillion Lions after striking out 14 Chilton Tigers on Tuesday. Southern Door has now won eight games in a row.

New Holstein took down Valders 3-0 in their Regional Championship, moving them to 21-7 on the season.  The Huskies are 6-1 in their last 7 games, dropping only their season finale.
