Eagles lose second straight on 102.1 FM

The Southern Door Eagles traveled to Wausau to take on the Wausau East Lumberjack but unfortunately lost 24-7. The Lumberjacks opened up the game with an onside kick that completely caught the Eagles off guard. Wausau East capitalized and marched down the field, scoring on a 1yd QB sneak by Matt Heinrich.

The Eagles started to find their footing in the second quarter but could not capitalize on a strong drive which ended in a missed field goal attempt. The Lumberjacks added a field goal right before halftime to make the score 10-0. Coming out of the break, Lumberjacks RB Donovan Leverete scored on a 48yd touchdown that put Wausau East up 17-0. Southern Door responded though, scoring on a 1yd QB sneak by Alex Daoust to cut the score to 17-7. Donovan Leverete did not let that score last long though as he put the Lumberjacks up 24-7 with a monster 72yd touchdown run with about eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Eagles had one last chance to put some more points on the board but unfortunately turned the ball over on downs after QB Alex Daoust came up about 2yds short on a broken play scramble.

Southern Door (0-2) will look to rebound next week when they host Crivitz (1-1). The game will be broadcasted on 102.1 FM with the pregame starting at 6:30 PM and kickoff at 7 PM. The matchup will also be streamed on DoorCountyDailyNews.Com.

Dean, LeCloux turn in strong Chief K performances
