Peshtigo swept a doubleheader from Southern Door Baseball on Saturday, using a balanced offense and strong pitching to secure 6-0 and 12-2 victories.

In the opener, Peshtigo took control early and never trailed in a 6-0 win. Bryce Heroux sparked the offense, driving in a run with a first-inning single before adding to the lead with a bases-loaded walk in the second. Peshtigo built a 4-0 advantage through two innings and added insurance the rest of the way.

The Eagles managed seven hits, with Collin Everard, Will Price, Chase Massart, Caleb Guilette, Brock Delveaux, Hoyt Austad and Quintyn Schwartz each recording one.

In the second game, Peshtigo broke things open with a seven-run second inning on the way to a 12-2 victory.

Southern Door briefly led after Hoyt Austad drove in a run in the second, but Peshtigo answered immediately. Ezra Proft delivered the key hit in the decisive inning with a three-run double as Peshtigo surged ahead 7-1.

Paul Keske earned the win, allowing two runs over five innings. Mac Hoffman took the loss for Southern Door, giving up 10 runs, none earned, across four innings.

Austad and Everard each collected two hits for the Eagles, while Austad also drove in a run. Peshtigo was paced by Braydon Denowski’s three-hit performance, with Proft and Keske each driving in three runs.

Southern Door is scheduled to travel to Sturgeon Bay for its next game Tuesday.

Southern Door Softball split a doubleheader with Peshtigo on Saturday, riding a dominant pitching performance in the opener before falling in a late-game rally in the second game.

Southern Door won the first game 7-3 behind a strong outing from Alanah Kaye, who struck out 10 batters over seven innings. Kaye allowed seven hits and three runs while walking two.

Peshtigo jumped out early with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Taylor Wortner. Southern Door responded in the fourth, taking the lead with a sacrifice fly from Alanna Paye and an RBI double from Lilly Vandertie.

Madyson Counard drove in two runs for Southern Door, while Vandertie and Samantha Melville each had two hits. The Eagles also played clean defense, committing no errors and turning a double play.

In the second game, Peshtigo rallied late for a 4-3 win. Trailing 3-1 in the fifth inning, Cameron Finger hit a three-run home run to give Peshtigo the lead.

Southern Door had taken control earlier, scoring in the second inning on an error before Counard’s two-run homer in the third made it 3-1. Despite out-hitting Peshtigo 9-4, Southern Door could not hold the lead.

Counard led the Eagles with two RBIs, while Ava Uecker, Melville and Paye each recorded two hits. Melville took the loss in the circle, allowing four runs over six innings.

Southern Door is scheduled to travel to Sturgeon Bay for its next game Tuesday.

Southern Door made it a long Friday for Gibraltar, taking both ends of a doubleheader by almost identical 11-0 and 11-1 scores at Gibraltar Secondary School.

Alanah Kaye was the story of game one, throwing a perfect game with 12 strikeouts over five innings, including an immaculate inning in the fifth where she struck out the side on nine pitches. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, and Alanna Paye matched her with three hits of her own. Madyson Counard added a solo home run to center in the fifth. Southern Door finished with 10 hits and played errorless ball.

Gibraltar's Mia Glocke took the loss, allowing 11 runs, just two earned, on 10 hits over five innings.

Game two was more of the same. Southern Door erupted for six runs in the fifth to pull away, and Samantha Melville earned the win with five innings of work, eight strikeouts, and just one unearned run allowed.

Counard and MaKayla Bouche each went 2-for-2, and Paige Penovich and Grace Vogel each drove in two during the big fifth inning. The Eagles finished with 13 hits and swiped five bases.

For Gibraltar, Megan Gallant and Olivia Pelkey each collected a hit in game two, and Gallant drove in the Vikings' lone run.

Southern Door hosts Peshtigo Saturday in a doubleheader with first pitch at 11 a.m. Gibraltar is back in action Monday at 4 p.m. against Sevastopol.

Southern Door will host four games this Saturday, with both the baseball and softball teams playing doubleheaders against the Peshtigo Bulldogs.

The Lady Eagles look to build off a 5-4 victory over Valders. Alanah Kaye and Samantha Melville split the duties on the mound, with both of them punching out six batters. Kaye also made four plate appearances and recorded a double.

The baseball team aims to pick up their inaugural win, dropping their first six of the season. Most recently dropping a doubleheader against Gibraltar/Washington Island 16-1 and 7-6.

The Southern Door softball team is hitting the road this Thursday as they are set to face the Valders Vikings. 

The Eagles look to rebound from a 5-1 loss to Appleton North. That lone run came in the seventh inning when Grace Vogel reached on an error, allowing Alanah Kaye to score. Kaye took the loss from the circle, allowing five runs (4 ER) on 10 hits while striking out five.

The first pitch is at 4:30 p.m.
 

Southern Door swept both team titles at Tuesday's Gibraltar Quad, winning the boys division with 116 points and the girls with 152.5. Algoma's boys finished third with 34 points and Gibraltar fourth with 25. On the girls side, Gibraltar was third with 25 and Algoma fourth with 22. Peshtigo also competed in the meet.

The Southern Door softball team was outhit 12-3 in its 5-1 loss to Appleton North.

Evelyn Frega kept things under control for the Lightning, striking out 15 Eagles batters while allowing just one run (0 ER) on three hits and three walks. That lone run came in the seventh inning when Grace Vogel reached on an error, allowing Alanah Kaye to score. 

Kaye took the loss from the circle, allowing five runs (4 ER) on 10 hits while striking out five. Brianna Gehrman delivered the biggest blow against Kaye with a two-run homer in the third inning. Drew Brown also had a big night for the Lightning, going 4-4 with one RBI.

The Southern Door baseball returns to non-conference play on Tuesday when they host Bonduel at 4:30 p.m.

The Lightning have won four of their first five games, but that blemish came in their last game against Seymour where they lost 6-0. They had score 10 runs or more in three of their first four games.

The Eagles (2-0) wasted no time getting on the board putting up 10 runs in each of the first two innings and capping it off with a 4-run third. Harper Kramer, Audrey Plzak, and Grace Gutschow all drove in four runs and Kramer finished the day 4-for-4 at the plate with 4 runs scored.

A dominant victory for Southern Door should propel them into a road matchup with Appleton North Monday Apr. 20 at 4 p.m. 

Eleven Southern Door errors led to five unearned runs in a 7-0 loss to Reedsville on Monday night.

The Panthers scored in five of the game’s seven innings, with nearly all of the rallies coming after an error. Chuck Meuleman’s leadoff double in the top of the fourth inning was the only extra-base hit for Reedsville. He finished 1 for 4 with an RBI, while teammate Caleb Schwann drove in two runs without recording a hit.

Collin Everard’s double in the first inning accounted for the Eagles’ only hit of the game.

Mac Hoffman took the loss on the mound, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out three.

The Southern Door track and field team travels to Oconto on Tuesday for a meet.

The Eagles will compete against Algoma, Green Bay NEW Lutheran, Sturgeon Bay and Oconto.

Southern Door last competed at the Green Bay Preble meet, where the girls team claimed victory, winning nine events. Elise Jackson (100 and 300 hurdles), Frankie Nellis (100, triple jump, long jump) and Nikaya Trusova (200 and 400) each won multiple events. Addison Miller (3,200) and Malaina Veeser (800) also won their races. On the boys side, Lauden Berg (triple jump) and Braeden VanRemortel (high jump) won their events, along with the 4x200 relay team.

The Algoma boys track team set the tone for the rest of their season on Thursday with a win in its home triangular meet. The squad won five events including a pair by Cooper Fay (pole vault and 200m), Ethan Melotte (discus), Brayden Brumm (3200m) and Jacob Blahnik (400m). With 84.5 points, the Wolves edged second-place Shiocton by three points. On the girls' side, Sophia Ramirez made it a sweep in the 3200m run with her win while Estella Marrero won the pole vault to go along with her runner-up finish in the 200m and fifth place finish in long jump.

The Sturgeon Bay track and field team competed Saturday at the Cold Vike Invite in Denmark, turning in a solid overall performance against a 12-team field. The boys team led the way with a fifth-place finish, while the girls placed ninth. Several athletes delivered standout efforts on the day. Alex Boden highlighted the meet with a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, setting a personal record of 17.12 seconds, and added a fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles. Rayshaune Johnson also impressed on the track, taking second in the 100 dash with a time of 11.73 seconds. In distance events, Rio Martinez placed eighth in the 1,600, while Delaney Skiba earned a third-place finish in the 3,200 with a personal-record time of 12:27.00. In the field events, Oliver Carmody claimed a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet, 6 inches. Cedar Tomberlin added a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 20-3, and Landon Evers placed fourth in both the shot put (46-11.5) and discus (133-3). Ryan Felhofer contributed a fourth-place finish in the 110 hurdles, while Jim Rivera placed eighth in the pole vault. On the girls side, Talia Schmidt finished third in the pole vault with a height of 7-6.

The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.

The Southern Door baseball team goes back to work on Monday with a home matchup against Reedsville.

The Eagles were victimized by five errors in its 11-0 loss to Kiel on Saturday. After giving up one run in the first inning, a six-run third inning set the pace for the game to end in five innings. Will Price and Caleb Guilette collected the hits for the Eagles while it was Price who took the loss on the mound, allowing seven runs (2 ER) on five hits and four walks while striking out two.

First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.

The Southern Door softball team never led in their Friday night game against Seymour until a two-out double from Harper Kramer scored Ava Uecker to walk it off 3-2 for the Eagles. 

Pitching was the highlight of the game on both sides as Seymour's Kendra Rettler went six and two-thirds innings striking out 11 Eagles' batters. For Southern Door, Alanah Kaye earned the win in three innings of work, while Samantha Melville started and went four innings allowing just one-run. 

Southern Door played errorless softball in the win and rallied when they needed it most. They put up two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game before the last frame. 

Leading the offense for the Eagles were Kaye, 4-for-4, and Kramer, 2-for-4, with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. Uecker singled on a pinch hit appearance to score the game's winning run. 

Southern Door play next on April 14th at Weyauwega-Fremont with a 4:30 first pitch. 

The Southern Door baseball team will host Kiel on Saturday.

The Raiders are coming off an 8-2 win over Two Rivers.

The Eagles look to rebound from a 10-0 loss to Luxemburg-Casco. Southern Door’s lone baserunner in the game reached on a dropped third strike that trickled to the backstop, allowing Kody Wagaman to reach.

First pitch is at 11 a.m.

The Southern Door track teams got out to a fast start on Thursday with the girls squad capturing the top spot at Green Bay Preble.

The girls won nine different events with Elise Jackson (100m and 300m hurdles), Frankie Nellis (100m, triple jump, long jump), and Nikaya Trusova (200m and 400m) all winning multiple events. Addison Miller (3200m) and Malaina Veeser (800m) also won their respective races.

On the boys side, Lauden Berg (triple jump) and Braeden VanRemortel (high jump) won their events to go with the team's victory in the 4x200m relay.

The Southern Door softball team is preparing for Friday as it gets set to host the Seymour Thunder.

The Thunder’s last outing was a 5-1 win over Winneconne. The Eagles have yet to play their season opener.

First pitch is at 4 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco and Southern Door track and field teams will travel to Green Bay Preble High School on Thursday for a meet.

They will compete alongside Green Bay NEW Lutheran and Chesterton Academy of St. John Paul II Classical School. Thursday marks the first time competing outside this spring.

The meet begins at 4 p.m.

The Southern Door track and field team will host a conference meet on Tuesday, welcoming Kewaunee, Peshtigo, and Sturgeon Bay.

The Eagles’ last meet was at UW-Oshkosh, where they excelled in distance events. Addison Miller took third in the two-mile, Emma Bousley finished 12th in the mile, and Malania Veeser and Skya Scrimgeour each placed in the top 11 in the 800-meter.

The Clippers also competed at UW-Oshkosh. Delany Skiba took second in the two-mile and placed 24th in the 800-meter. Talia Schmidt set personal bests in the 60-meter and 200-meter.

The Storm’s last outing was at the Manitowoc Lutheran Invitational. Blake Bortolini led the boys with a fifth-place finish in the shot put, while Seth Chevalier placed sixth in the pole vault. For the girls, Noelie El Kout won the 800-meter and was part of the fourth-place 4x800 relay team with Elynor Heidel, Mia Ihlenfeldt, and Hannah Miller. Miller also took second in the triple jump.

The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.

Pending field conditions, the Southern Door and Luxemburg-Casco softball teams will open their 2026 campaigns against each other Monday afternoon.

The Eagles had their season opener at Chilton called off because of field conditions last week. Alanna Kaye (2nd Team Pitcher), Reece Vogel (2nd Team Catcher), Madyson Counard (HM Infielder), and Sam Melville (HM Sophomore) will be tasked with helping the Eagles improve on their 14-8 record from a year ago.

The Spartans had their two games rained out last week, losing out on matchups against New Holstein and Marinette. The Spartans softball team finished 21-4 last year, concluding the year with a close loss to NEC rival Denmark in the regional final. Seniors Alayna Deprez, Riley Westlund, Rylan Kaminski, and Baylee Wypiszenski are set to return this season.

First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.

If Mother Nature allows, Southern Door will make the trip south to Valders to open their 2026 baseball season Monday afternoon.

The Eagles' Collin Everard (2nd Team IF) is the lone All-Packerland performer poised to return from last year's squad that went 7-13 in 2025

The Vikings went 11-9 last year and could have Austin Ebert (1st Team Pitcher and Position) and Carter Valleskey (1st Team Position; HM Pitcher) set to return.
