Eagles Shutout by Bears on U102.1

The Southern Door Eagles fell to 1-2 after being shut out against the Bonduel Bears on Friday night, 19-0 on U102.1.

The Eagles and Bears would shut each other down nearly the entire first half, with the first score of the game coming with just 20 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. Even then, it took a leaping, one-handed grab by the Bears WR Beckett Hartlaben in the back corner of the endzone to break the scoring.   Even though Southern Door's defense tallied both a fumble recovery and another Lauden Berg interception, the offense would not be able to find the end zone.

The second half started well for the Eagles when Landon Vandertie rushed them deep into Bear territory on the opening possession.  However, they would be turned away at the 10-yard line.  After that, the Eagles could not slow down the Bears' run game, allowing a pair of rushing touchdowns to the Bears' primary back, Carter Moesch, on back-to-back possessions.  Eagle QB Caleb Delwiche threw a pair of interceptions, but each was effectively a punt as they came on third and longs deep downfield.

Southern Door will be at home next week to face the Marinette Marines.  Join Jacob Nate on the call at 6:45 for pregame and the 7:00 pm kickoff.
