The Luxemburg-Casco boys soccer team will face the Menasha Bluejays on Thursday. The Spartans(5-0) are coming off a 3-2 victory over Wrightstown on Tuesday. LC gave up a goal to the Tigers in the first minute of action but was able to recover. Johan Amador was able to tie the game in the 17th minute. After being tied 1-1 at the half, the Spartans took control after a Nathan Johnson goal in the 51st minute and a Griffin Saldana goal in the 74th. The Tigers were able to score in the 87th minute but their comeback ended there. The Spartans have outscored their opponents 19-9 this season.  

The first place Spartans will take on the Bluejays at 4:30 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco girls golf team is set to tee off their regional tournament on Thursday at Foxfire Golf Club. Of the 10 teams in the Spartans’ regional, they have the fourth-best nine-hole average with a score of 224.8. Freedom has the region’s best average team score of 200.8. LC is led by Lydia VandenHouten who finished five shots back in last week’s conference tournament with an 18-hole score of 90. Amanda Laurent, Alex Wech, Alyssa Gilson, and Morgan Detampel round out the rest of the team. 

Thursday’s tee time is set for 9:00 a.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco girls volleyball team is set to play Denmark at home on Thursday. The Spartans remain undefeated at 7-0 and have swept their way through the competition. They have yet to lose a single set and have not given up 20 points in a set. LC is coming off a victory over Waupaca 25-5, 25-14, 25-10. Meanwhile, Denmark is 3-3 and coming off a tight victory over Wrightstown on Monday. The Vikings took the match in 5 sets 24-26, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 15-11. 

The match is set to start at 7 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco High School boys’ soccer team continued its winning ways Tuesday evening with a 3-2 triumph against the Wrightstown Tigers. The Spartans didn’t get off to the start they were hoping for, allowing a goal on the game’s first shot in the first minute of action. After settling down, L-C netted the next three tallies. Johan Amador scored in the 17th minute off a Derrick Davister assist. In the second half, Nathan Johnson was set up by Drew Bandow in the 51st minute, and Griffin Saldana got the game-winner in the 74th minute thanks to Davister’s second helper of the night. Wrightstown scored late (87’) but could not close the gap entirely. L-C controlled most of the play, striking 13 shots at Wrightstown’s Austin Klein compared to just five against Luxemburg-Casco goalie Garrett Zuleger.

Luxemburg-Casco continued its impressive streaks with a win against Oconto Falls Monday night.

The Spartans still have not dropped a set and still have not let their opponents score more than 20 points in a single frame, winning 3-0 by scores of 25-6, 25-18, 25-13 to improve to 6-0 on the season. 

They return to action on Tuesday with a road trip to Waupaca.

The Luxemburg-Casco girls golf team is approaching the end of their season as they play at Northbrook Country Club on Monday. The Spartans shot a 424 last week in the conference championship. They finished in seventh place as Wrightstown won the tournament with a team score of 355. Freedoms’ Callie Berg and Wrightstowns’ Danielle Bruecker tied for first by shooting an 85. LC’s top performer, Lydia VandenHouten, finished five shots back with a 90. 

The Spartans are set to tee off at 3:00 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team will enter senior night at 5-0. The Spartans have been on a tear this season by sweeping every opponent. They also have not given up 20 points in a single set. The Spartans will be hosting Oconto Falls on Monday. The Panthers are currently 4-1 with their only loss coming against Freedom. In their wins, they have won 12 out of 13 sets. 

The big North Eastern clash will start at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Luxemburg-Casco’s volleyball team continued to steamroll the competition with a win at Wrightstown on Saturday. The Spartans won all three sets 25-8, 25-11, 25-15. They still have not allowed 20 points in a single set this season. The three stars of the match were Emma Johnson, Grace Holschuh, and Kylie Hanson. Emma Johnson recorded 31 assists, 8 digs, and three aces. Grace Holschuh had 10 kills while Kylie Hanson finished with eight kills and four digs. 

The Spartan's next match is at home on Monday against Oconto Falls.

The Luxemburg-Casco boys soccer team continued to roll as they beat Denmark 3-0. In a tight first half, the Spartans’ Anthony Patek was able to score off an assist from Nathan Johnson in the 10th minute to give LC a 1-0 lead. The Spartans were able to separate themselves from the Vikings with two goals in the second half. The first goal came from Nathan Johnson in the 50th minute. The second goal came from Derrick Davister off an Anthony Patek assist in the 83rd minute. The Spartan’s Garrett Zuleger recorded two saves while the Vikings’ Derrick Broerman recorded 11 saves.

Luxemburg-Casco’s next scheduled match is Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. when they host Wrightstown.

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans turned a close game at halftime into a blowout on Friday night in defeating the Waupaca Comets 41-15 in a non-conference opener in Luxemburg. 

The Comets struck first on a 45-yard scamper by running back Aaron Monday with 7:54 left in the first half.  Luxemburg-Casco responded two scores on a 13 yard run by Evan Dorner and a 5 yard run by quarterback Owen Deprez.  The first half scoring ended with a safety on a blocked punt by Waupaca in the end zone. 

Clinging to a 14-8 lead at halftime, Jonas Otradovec set the tone early for the Spartans in the second half by returning the kick-off after intermission all the way for an 82-yard return.  The Spartans capitalized on Waupaca turnovers and outscored the Comets 27-0 in the third quarter to cruise to the easy victory. 

Dorner led the Spartans with two rushing touchdowns and Deprez added a touchdown pass to Ryan Robillard.  Freshman Braeden Schley came up big for the Spartans on defense with an interception and a critical fourth-down tackle in the first half. 

Seven Spartan seniors were honored at the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex after the game as part of Senior Night with Coach Neil Seering recognizing each of their efforts to the football program. 

Luxemburg-Casco (1-0) will now travel to Wrightstown next Friday to face the Tigers in the Northeastern Conference opener.  Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will have the New Radio Sports Network broadcast on 96.7 FM WBDK starting at 6:30 with the pregame show and kick-off at 7 pm.  

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball looks to stay perfect on Saturday against Wrightstown. The Spartans are currently 4-0 and in first place of the North Eastern Conference. They have not lost a set this year and have also not given up 20 points in a single set. On the other end of the spectrum, Wrightstown enters the matchup with a record of 0-5. Four of the five losses have been in conference and Wrightstown has only won one set on the season. 

The Spartans travel to Wrightstown for a 10:30 a.m. match on Saturday.

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans volleyball has yet to drop a set this season after winning another three straight against Clintonville Thursday night.

It also has not given up more than 20 points in a single set this season, capturing them from the Truckers by scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-17. 

Grace Holschuh had a great match offensively and defensively, collecting 10 kills and three aces while also registering 12 digs. Jillian Lynts almost matched Holschuh with 11 digs and two aces while Hannah Derenne got 12 kills and 7 digs. 

The Spartans travel to Wrightstown on Saturday.

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans will host the Waupaca Comets in a non-conference football game Friday night.  The Spartans of the North Eastern Conference are looking to bounce back from a 3-5 (3-6 overall) campaign in 2019 which saw them miss the playoffs for the first time in seven years.  Waupaca of the Bay Conference was 2-6 (2-7 overall) last season.  The game will be played at the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex with limited spectators allowed with two fans per student-athlete.  Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will have the call starting at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame show and kick-off set for 7 pm on 96.7FM WBDK.  The game audio can also be streamed on NewRadioSports.com.

The Luxemburg-Casco boys’ soccer team looks to stay undefeated as they host Denmark on Friday. The Spartans beat Wrightstown in their opener 6-3 and are coming off back to back victories over Waupaca. They won the first match 3-1 and survived a thriller earlier in the week 4-3. A Griffin Saldana penalty kick in the 89th minute broke the tie to give the Spartans the victory. 

First touch is on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco cross country team heads out on the road again Thursday afternoon to run against its conference rivals.

Competing against the Spartans in Marinette are Clintonville, Denmark, Fox Valley Lutheran, and the host school.  Last week head coach Katie Waege applauded her team for their effort at Denmark on Facebook, congratulating them on competing against a tough Fox Valley Lutheran squad and setting personal records.

Thursday's meet begins at 4 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team looks to stay perfect as it continues its road swing through the Northeastern Conference, playing Clintonville Thursday night.

The Spartans have not given up 20 points in a single set this year in its 3-0 start. Setter Emma Johnson is proving she is a worthy replacement of all-state performer Bekah Day as she was nominated for WisSports.net Athlete of the Week honors after recording over 50 assists in their first two matches. The Truckers have only had one match this season, losing to Freedom in straight sets.

Thursday's match begins at 7 p.m.

Griffin Saldana netted a penalty kick in the 89th minute to break a tie and give Luxemburg-Casco High School a 4-3 win against Waupaca. Saldana opened the scoring in the seventh minute off an assist from Matthew Conway. Waupaca struck twice within three minutes later in the first and took a 2-1 lead into halftime. Luxemburg’s Saldana figured into two other goals, four minutes apart at 52’ and 56’, assisting Cody Arendt first then Johan Amador. Garrett Zuleger hauled in four saves for the Spartans.

The Luxemburg-Casco boys’ soccer team is looking to show that Friday night’s 3-1 win over Waupaca was no fluke. Friday’s match was a tight one as LC’s Cody Arendt and Waupaca’s Bryce Boldt both scored early. After being tied at the half, Griffin Saldana would give the Spartans the lead with a goal in the 50th minute. Shortly after, Saldana gave the Spartans a cushion with a goal in the 57th minute.

The Luxemburg-Casco girls' volleyball continues to breeze through its conference slate, sweeping Little Chute on the road Monday night 3-0. 

The Spartans still have not given up 20 or more points in a single set this season, defeating the Mustangs 25-13, 25-11, 25-12. Grace Holschuh led the way with 15 kills while Hannah Derenne added another 11. Defensively, Kenzie Hanson was able to keep volleys alive with 10 digs. 

The Spartans are back in action Thursday at Clintonville.

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team looks to make it three in a row when they play at Little Chute Monday night.

The Spartans won their last time out in three straight sets over Denmark 25-9, 25-15, 25-13. The team has still not given up more than 20 points in a single set this year. The team was led by Emma Johnson who had 32 assists and Hannah Derenne who registered 15 kills. The pair each had two service aces as well. 

The Mustangs come into the match 0-2 and still looking for their first set win. They have lost in straight sets to Waupaca and Freedom so far this year. Maya Wegand and Adilyn Dercks each had five kills in their loss to Freedom on Saturday.

The Spartans and Mustangs will have their first serve Monday at 7 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco boy’s soccer team continued their strong start to the season with a 3-1 victory in Waupaca on Friday night. Cody Arendt started the scoring with a goal to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead. After being tied at the break, Griffin Saldana scored two second-half goals to put the Spartans on top. Garrett Zuleger and Zachary Mondello combined for 14 saves.

Luxemburg-Casco hosts Waupaca on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team built off their momentum from Thursday’s sweep of Wrightstown by sweeping Denmark on Saturday. The Spartans won the three sets 25-9, 25-15, and 25-13. Emma Johnson finished with 32 assists, 8 digs, and 2 aces. Hannah Derenne had 15 kills, 4 blocks, and 2 aces. Kylie Hanson added in 2 kills and 4 blocks. 

Luxemburg-Casco’s next scheduled match is Monday at 7:00 p.m. as they travel to Little Chute.

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team got off to a strong start on Thursday, sweeping Wrightstown in three straight sets.

The Spartans did not allow the Tigers to reach the 20-point plateau in any set, topping them 25-11, 25-15, 25-19. Emma Johnson controlled the offense as she tries to replace the production of former All-State standout Bekah Day, She was able to register 24 assists, four digs and two aces. Grace Holschuh led the Spartans with nine kills while Autumn Flynn and Kenzie Hanson each added six kills. Hannah Derenne helped the Spartans defensively with eight digs.

The Spartans are back in action on Saturday when they play in Denmark at 10:30 a.m.

After Luxemburg-Casco High School’s 6-3 victory over Wrightstown on Tuesday, head coach Cory Romdenne saw moments that the team can build on. Coach Romdenne also went on to say that his team wasn’t satisfied with their performance but felt happy to get their first win of the season. L-C’s next scheduled matchup is at Waupaca on Friday. Waupaca is the only team in the conference with a turf field and coach Romdenne wants his team to be prepared. He has had his team practice on the pavement to prepare for the hard surface. After weeks of summer tournaments, the Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team officially begins their regular season Thursday night in Wrightstown.

The Tigers played their first match on Tuesday against Freedom, failing to score at least 20 points in two of the three sets as they lost 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-21). 

Thursday marks the first WIAA match the Spartans have played since they won the state title last year against McFarland. They made the finals in most of their summer league tournaments, winning at least two of them. Emma Johnson and Grace Holschuh are just some of the players highly ranked in the state and head coach Jeff Frey told the NEW Radio Sports Network about some of the other girls that could make noise this season.

Luxemburg-Casco High School boys’ soccer played their first game of the season Tuesday evening at Wrightstown, winning 6-3. The Spartans pounced on the Tigers early, going into halftime with a 2-1 lead. Griffin Saldana and Matthew Conway each scored two goals in the second half, the last being on a penalty kick, to help L-C pull away for a comfortable victory.

The match was the school’s first contact sports contest of the fall. Girls’ volleyball begins their state title defense Thursday with another game on Saturday. The football team scrimmages Friday before their season opener on the 25th.

The Luxemburg-Casco High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams ran Tuesday night at Denmark High School against Denmark and Fox Valley Lutheran. Results are slow to come in this year as COVID-19 restrictions have changed how reporting is done. Who won the meet will most likely not be known until the end of the week, but L-C is already touting several season-best times from the meet.

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans soccer team hits the pitch for the first time in 2020 when the face Wrightstown on the road.

The Spartans are coming off an 8-6-5 record in 2019, seeing their season cut short in the WIAA Regional Final against Sheboygan Falls. 5-0-2 conference mark gave them the Northeastern crown. The last time these two teams met was in the WIAA Regional. The Spartans won 4-1 against a Tiger squad that went 5-13 in the regular season.

First touch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

They had to wait the entire weekend to find out, but the Luxemburg-Casco girls cross country team won their first meet of the season on Friday.

The Spartans won 20 to 63 over Wrightstown on Friday. Denmark fielded an incomplete team. They didn't have the top run, but the Spartans had their top five runners finish second through fifth to earn the top score. Megan Vandermause paced the team with a 21:41 time on the 5K course with their other four scoring runners finish with a 23:10 or better.

The boys' team narrowly got defeated by Wrightstown but topped Denmark 29, 34, 85. Spencer Thiry won the boys' race with a time of 18:22. The Spartans top five runners finished in the top 11 places and all finishing with a time better than 20:30. The Spartans had over 10 runners finish the 5K course with an average pace better than 7 minutes per mile.

The Spartans cross country teams run again Tuesday at Denmark against the Vikings and Fox Valley Lutheran beginning at 5:00 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco girls golf team will host their third match of the year when it welcomes Little Chute and Waupaca to Northbrook Golf Course Monday afternoon.

The team shot 230 at its last meet held at Hilly Haven, trailing Wrightstown (187) and Freedom (196). Lydia VanderHouten's 47 led the way for the Spartans, followed Amanda Laurent's 57, Alyssa Gilson's 62, and Alex Wech's 64.

Monday's tee time is set for 1 p.m.

With a week of practice in the books, Luxemburg-Casco High School’s girls’ volleyball team is set for a scrimmage against Denmark Saturday morning. The Spartans and Vikings will meet again in a regular-season match in just seven days, the second official contest of the year for L-C after Thursday’s scheduled opener against Wrightstown. 

The team has competed against regional schools over the summer, with L-C finishing in first place. That culminated with a successful run at the Prep Dig Summer Sunset tournament last month. Prep Dig has ranked the Spartans number overall for the entire State of Wisconsin in their preseason poll for Division 2. Volleyball is the first fall contact sport to return to play. Boys' football is a week behind.

The Luxemburg-Casco girls' golf team hopes to squeeze in their round Thursday in DePere.

Thursday's triangular against Wrightstown and Freedom is a makeup of their scheduled meet on August 27th. Tee time is set for 2 p.m.

The Luxemburg-Casco football now knows when and where they will be playing on Friday nights this fall.

The program announced its varsity and JV schedules on Wednesday afternoon. The varsity team will have a Friday tune-up bout against Shawano on September 18th before officially beginning their season at home against Waupaca for Senior Night on September 25th. The season runs through November 6th and will feature four home and three away contests during their seven-game schedule. All regular-season games begin at 7 p.m. and can be heard on 96.7 WBDK. Monday was the first official day of practice for fall contact sports, but it was just a continuation of normal for the Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team.

While many teams will just be starting off, the Spartans ended their summer with a flurry of tournaments in August. Head coach Jeff Frey says that should put them ahead of the curve when it comes to their regular season next week.

Despite the leg up on the competition and the uniqueness of the season, Frey knows how tough their conference can be.

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans cross country teams boasted three top-10 finishes in its second meet of the year at Freedom on Friday.

The boys' team led things off with a third-place finish out of five teams, scoring 76 points. That was 52 points behind another strong performance from Freedom which had all five of its scoring runners finish in the top 10. Sophomore Spencer Thiry led the way for the Spartans, finishing the 5K course in 17:36 for an eighth-place finish.

The girls' team took second in their race, finishing 25 points behind first-place Freedom. Top ten finishers included junior Megan Vandermause (21:32,  3rd) and sophomore Eva Junion (21:46, 6th) on the 5K course.

Luxemburg-Casco High School girls’ golf team finished in third place at a four-way in Marinette Thursday but also notched the best individual performance of the tournament. Lydia VandeHouten shot a sizzling 42, edging out Marinette’s Lindsay Wingender and Little Chute’s Karsen Hammen by one stroke. The Spartans lagged host Marinette and Little Chute but finished 15 strokes better than Oconto Falls. Full results are available here.

Sporting events at Luxemburg-Casco will have a different feel this fall.

The Northeastern Conference announced recently that athletes would only be allowed two spectators each for their sporting events this fall excluding swim meets which will have none. According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, there is a chance that rule could be lifted for one game so students only could attend. You can read more about the plan by clicking on the link below.

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans will hit the road once again Thursday as they face other teams from the Northeastern Conference. Little Chute, Marinette, and Oconto Falls will also make the trip to Little River Golf Course in Marinette for the Spartans' second meet this week and third of the year.
