Spartans volleyball win Marquette team camp

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team has captured their first summer tournament title of the year after playing at the Marquette University Volleyball Team Camp this past weekend.

 

No results were posted, but according to their Facebook page, " each time we stepped on the floor this group got better. So much growth.....and the exciting part, so much more growth to be made."

 

The team took second place at its Prep Dig summer tournament the previous weekend.

Softball's Kroll, Hanson capture All-District honors

Two Luxemburg-Casco softball players continued to earn accolades on Thursday when they were named to the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association All-District 2 Team.

 

Rebecca Kroll was named to the District 2 First Team along with 23 other players from northeast Wisconsin. McKenzie Hanson and 11 others garnered honorable mention status. Both Kroll and Hanson were All-North Eastern Conference in 2021 after leading the Spartans to a 19-4 record and a regional championship. 

Spartans fall short of summer tournament championship

Luxemburg-Casco ended its time at the Prep Dig Summer Sizzle in Appleton on Thursday with another 2-1 day.

 

The Spartans beat Sauk Prairie and Manitowoc before falling to Howards Grove in the championship. They finished the tournament with a 4-2 overall record.

 

The program's lower levels also had successful weeks at area summer tournaments. The Spartans' two freshman teams wrapped up their summer league action on Thursday with the gold team finishing 3rd and the maroon squad coming in 5th.

 

 

Spartans volleyball go 2-1 in summer play

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team got off to a strong start in its summer league action at the Community First Champion Center in Appleton Wednesday. 

 

The Spartans went 2-1 on the day, falling only to Edgewood on the beat. The loss was sandwiched between wins against Edgerton and Mosinee. They are back in action Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
against Sauk Prairie and Manitowoc.

Spartans soccer 3v3 Tournament registration closes Friday

The Luxemburg-Casco Soccer Club is once again hosting its 3v3 Tournament later this month.

 

Held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, the tournament has grown into one of the biggest hosted in the region and attracts teams from around Wisconsin and across the Midwest. The day-long tournament is held at the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex.

Spartans trap team takes sixth at Nationals

The Luxemburg-Casco Trap Shooting team shot all the way up the leaderboard at Nationals this past weekend, finishing sixth overall.

 

Aiding their success was Garrett Simonar, Jacob DeGrave, and Kody Simonar, who were three of the 406 athletes that scored 93 with a reverse run of 6 or better to make it into Sunday’s Championship round. Garrett Simonar led the way for the Spartans, finishing in 122th place with a total score of 192 and a reverse score of eight. He was one of eight shooters with a perfect Saturday score of 100 and reverse run of 100. Below are the individual results of each team member.

L-C football announces contact days

The WIAA may have wrapped up its final sports championship events this week, but Luxemburg-Casco football is already looking towards the fall.

 

Spartans head football coach Neil Seering announced on Thursday it would host contact days from July 19th to July 22nd with a possible team-building activity taking place on the 23rd. Parents and community members are invited for a "Meet and Greet" event on July 22nd with a practice taking place from 4-6 p.m. and a scrimmage from 6-7 p.m. 

 

The team would have a week off before being able to officially pass out equipment on August 2nd and have their first practice on August 3rd. 

L-C's Cannon receives first offer

The doors to a football career after high school are opening up for Luxemburg-Casco's Lucas Cannon.

 

The senior tweeted out earlier this week that the University of Minnesota-Duluth offered him the opportunity to play football at the school. The offer came after participating at a number of different camps this summer held at UMD, North Dakota State, North Dakota, Lafayette College, and the University of St. Thomas.
