Luxemburg-Casco Fishing Team renames Sturgeon Bay tournament

The Luxemburg-Casco Fishing Team's annual tournament in Sturgeon Bay will have a new name moving forward.

Earlier this week, the team announced that the tournament would be named in honor of Terry Peterson, a fishing guide and Freshwater Fishing Hall of Famer from Hayward, Wis., who passed away earlier this year. Peterson's son Patrick presented a team with a donation to the program at their July meeting. He also awarded team member Charlie Simonar with awards for winning the tournament and registering a big bass.

Thiry, Adams play final game as Spartans

Coach Taylor Bredael-Schmidt had one more opportunity last week to lead her two senior stalwarts from last year's squad.

Schmidt coached the WBCA Division 2 North All-Star team, which featured Lauren Adams and Taylor Thiry. According to the L-C Basketball Booster Club, Adams chipped in five points and Thiry scored four in the loss.

Even more important the victory, the trio helped raise thousands of dollars for the MACC Fund, which supports children and families battling cancer.

Taylor Thiry, Lauren Adams, and Coach Taylor spent 3 days in WI Dells creating some lasting memories while representing Luxemburg-Casco Girls Basketball in the Senior All-Star Game.

Lauren Adams scored 5 points while Taylor Thiry added 4. Unfortunately, D2 North did not win however what Taylor and Lauren will remember most is meeting new people and being able to play a basketball game with them 2 days later.

What Coach Taylor will remember is the cause for which they play and coach for, the MACC Fund, coaching and learning alongside Nicky VanLaanen, and being able to coach some of the best D2 athletes, especially her two Seniors.

They are all thankful for the support of the community in helping them raise money to be able to participate.
