DCU returns home to face NEW London

The Door County United Swim Team heads to the Sturgeon Bay YMCA Program Center on Thursday for its home meet against New London.

 

In its last meet, DCU was defeated by Marinette High School on September 24th 82-66. Despite the loss, DCU placed first in six events of the evening. The 200-yard Medley Relay, consisting of Quinn Sperber (SDHS), Shaeffer Rass (SEV), Hazel Monfils (SDHS), and Brennan Rass (SEV) was one of those first-place finishes. Individual events with a first-place finish included S. Rass in the 200-yard Freestyle, Monfils in the 200-yard Individual Medley, and Sperber in the 100-yard Butterfly and the 100-yard Backstroke. Additionally, the 400-yard Freestyle Relay finished first. Sperber, B. Rass, S. Rass, and Monfils were the participants for that relay. 

 

First events begin at 6 p.m.

Clippers soccer visits Green Bay to battle Blazers

The Sturgeon Bay soccer team makes the trip south to kick off October on Thursday when they battle at NEW Lutheran in Green Bay.

 

Outside of the Cedarburg Quad on September 19th, the Clippers have posted five clean sheets including a 13-0 win over Kewaunee on Monday. Head Coach Jesus Mejia Jr. was more than happy with his team's performance.

 

 

The Blazers are trending the other way as they have dropped four of their last five matches, including an 8-1 drubbing at the hands of their former co-op partner Providence Academy on Monday. Mason Fosheim leads the team with 13 saves.

 

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

Clippers volleyball welcomes Wolves Thursday

The Sturgeon Bay volleyball team returns to their home court on Thursday when it welcomes Algoma to town for Packerland Conference play.

 

The Clippers earned a 3-1 victory over Gibraltar on Thursday night, winning 25-18, 24-26, 25-13 and 25-16. Audrey Harrington led Sturgeon Bay offensively with 15 kills on 27 attempts without a hitting error, finishing with an impressive .556 hitting percentage. Harrington also led the team defensively with 9 digs and added an ace from the service line. Izzy Schoeneman had another strong performance at the net, finishing with 13 kills on 19 attempts and a .579 hitting percentage. Setter Makenna Coyhis directed the Sturgeon Bay offense with 42 assists while also contributing 3 kills and a team-high 3 aces. Sturgeon Bay also received strong contributions from the service line and back row. Jericha Reynolds and Reen Walker each recorded 2 aces. Walker finished with 7 digs, while Reynolds added 6.

 

The Wolves overcame a stumble in the second set to beat Chilton Monday night 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 25-14). The Wolves were led by Sadie Rikkola (12 Kills, 3 Aces, 20 Receptions), Lauren Loucks (11 Kills, 2 Aces, 13 Receptions), Natalie Ray (9 Kills, 20 Receptions, 17 Digs), Bristol Schmidt (2 Blocks, 5 Kills), Aleasha Granius (2 Aces, 26 Assists), Eva Liu (1 Ace, 18 Receptions, 22 Digs), and Mackenzie Lischka (19 Assists).

 

The first serve is set for 7 p.m.
