Sturgeon Bay Sweeps Southern Door in Three Sets

The Sturgeon Bay varsity volleyball team put together a strong all-around performance Thursday night, earning a convincing three-set sweep over Southern Door, 25-13, 25-18, 25-20.

 

The Clippers came out strong in the opening set, establishing their offense early and cruising to a 25-13 victory. Sturgeon Bay continued to control the momentum in the second set, winning 25-18, before holding off Southern Door in a more competitive third set, 25-20, to complete the sweep.

 

Audrey Harrington led the Clippers offensively with 11 kills, adding three digs, four service aces and a block. Harrington was especially effective at the net, committing just two hitting errors on 17 attempts.

 

Izzy Schoeneman delivered an impressive all-around performance, finishing with 10 kills, six service aces and two digs. Schoeneman was a consistent offensive threat throughout the match, committing just one hitting error on 20 attempts.

 

Reen Walker contributed six kills, two aces, and three digs while also playing an important role in serve receive. Walker helped keep the Clippers' offense moving with steady passing throughout the match.

 

Makenna Coyhis directed the Sturgeon Bay offense with 35 assists, distributing the ball and creating scoring opportunities for multiple hitters.

 

The Clippers also received valuable contributions from their supporting players. Prudence Goettleman recorded five kills, three digs, and an ace, while Auna Anderson added two kills, two digs, and a block. Jericha Reynolds contributed a kill and two digs, and Genevieve Austed added three digs.

 

Sturgeon Bay's balanced offensive attack, aggressive serving, and teamwork helped the Clippers maintain control throughout the match. With several players contributing at the net and from the service line, the Clippers demonstrated the depth and confidence they have been building as the regular season winds down.

 

The victory gives Sturgeon Bay positive momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play and the upcoming WIAA postseason.
