Clippineers wrestling battle hard in loss

The scoreboard says Kewaunee won, but the scoresheet tells a different story in Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol's 42-30 opening night loss in wrestling on Tuesday.

It was all pins or forfeits during the dual meet with both teams giving up two weight classes and the Clippineers forfeiting another five weight classes compared to just two for the Storm. The Clippineers actually won more matches on the evening, edging the Storm in that department 3-2.

The Clippineers jumped out to an 18-0 lead thanks to Nick West's pin of Jacob Van Goethem to open things at 285 and two forfeits.  Ben DeNamur would get the next pin at 132, using a leg ride wear down Mitchell Van Goethem before eventually getting the turn. After the Storm rattled off 24 straight points due to pins and forfeits, Drew Barganz ended the night for the Clippineers with a fall of Kemper Robinson off a nice throw.

The Clippineers are back in action on Saturday December 19th at Oconto.
