Cate Anderson added another week to her season thanks to a state-qualifying performance at Thursday's WIAA Sectional meet hosted by Little Chute.

Anderson finished in second place in her preliminary and final heats of the 100m hurdles to punch her ticket to the state meet next weekend in LaCrosse. She finished in fifth place in the 300m hurdles, but she ran a season-best while doing it.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers and Luxemburg-Casco baseball teams will meet for the second year in a row in the WIAA Regional Round Thursday afternoon.

The Spartans shut out the Clippers 9-0 in last year's matchup also held at Luxemburg-Casco. They would go on to lose to eventual state participant Denmark in the following game.

The Clippers only managed a pair of hits in their game against Gibraltar on Tuesday as they lost 2-0. The Vikings' Nate Greene sparkled as he allowed hits to Caleb Plazak and Danny Lodl while striking out four. Bennett Johnson was plagued by six walks, but he was able to strike out four and only gave up the two runs. One of those runs was driven in by Vikings outfielder Will Friedenfels.

The Spartans completed their regular season on a hot streak as they won eight of their last 10 matchups. They had a Jekyll/Hyde-like series against Freedom to close out the year, beating them 10-3 on Saturday before losing at home to the Irish 12-2 the following Monday.

A small fleet of Sturgeon Bay track athletes will head to the sectionals meet this Thursday.

There were no event champions in the group, but Cate Anderson, Craven Lautenbach, Ella Tarkowski, Espen Walker, and Andrea Wilke will have the opportunity to extend their season and potentially compete in next weekend's state track meet in LaCrosse.

Before they head to Luxemburg-Casco for their WIAA Tournament opener, the Sturgeon Bay baseball team will visit Denmark on Tuesday to close out their regular season schedule.

As heard on 103.3 The Clipper last week, the Clippers finished off a sweep of NEW Lutheran with 7-3 and 7-2 victories. The Clippers used a six-run seventh inning in game one and a five-run fifth inning in the second game to lead them to the victories.

The Vikings won their last game against Green Bay Southwest 3-2 to improve to 20-4 on the season.

Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Sturgeon Bay scored three goals in the second half to win their matchup with Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah.

Haley Mersberger scored the game's first goal and the only tally of the first half to give Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah. a 1-0 lead. Mersberger would go on to score another goal in the second half, but she was matched by the Clippers' Scarlet Serafico. Josie Rangel scored the other goal for the Clippers to give Sturgeon Bay the victory with Drew Starr in net to improve to 7-5-2 on the season.

The Clippers will play at home Tuesday night against Kiel. They are 16-0-2, pick up one of those draws on Thursday as they played Sheboygan Falls to 2-2 score. 

Tuesday's first touch will take place at 6:00 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls soccer team will play under the lights on Monday when they host Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah.

Three first-half goals helped the Sturgeon Bay girls' soccer team secure its fourth conference win with a 5-2 decision over Valders their last time out.

The Clippers will play at New Holstein when they open WIAA Tournament play next week.

Game time is set for 6 p.m.

Scarlet Serafico scored a pair and Emma Reichel earned her own tally off a loose ball after a corner kick to make 3-0 at the end of one half.

The two sides would play even in the second half with both teams scoring two goals. Allison Hobbs and Paula Wienke scored the goals for the Clippers while it was Sage Meyer putting the Vikings on the board with a pair of goals.

The Clippers split duties in the net Thursday with Drew Starr playing the first half and Isabella Jimenez giving goalkeeping a try in the second half.

A six-run seventh inning and a five-run fifth inning led the Sturgeon Bay Clippers baseball team to a 7-3 and a 7-2 victory over NEW Lutheran Thursday night in Green Bay.

The evening started on 103.3/96.7 WBDK HD-2 The Clipper by first finishing a previously started game that left things off in the top of the seventh inning with the Clippers and Blazers having a run apiece. The Clippers were able to take advantage of the slick conditions due to the rain, bunting for a base hit and aggressive on the base paths as the Blazers' defense threw the ball around the infield. Emmett Braschnewitz, Danny Lodl, Lucas Vanderleest, Curt Meyer all recorded hits and Gavin Fernandez took advantage of a throwing error by the third baseman as the Clippers plated six runs. The Blazers would score two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh, but Chris Lodl was able to close things out while striking out two.

In game two, the Clippers would bat around again in the fifth inning already up 2-0. The Clippers offense took advantage of a struggle Elijah Meerstein on the mound by drawing three walks before Fernandez delivered the game's big blow with two-run double. The Blazers  Fernandez, Vanderleest, and Bennett Johnson all recorded two RBI. The Clippers used four different pitchers in game two, with the two Johnson, Lodl, and Braeden Haines combining to strike out five Blazers. Dhein proved to be the Blazers' best weapon in game two. His fielder's choice ended up scoring the Blazers' only two runs and went 1 2/3 innings in relief of Meerstein to strike out five.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers soccer team hopes to build their tournament resume when they travel to Valders Thursday.

The Clippers had two games against Kewaunee and Two Rivers canceled this week, so their last game was a 3-0 loss to Xavier. That broke a five-game non-losing streak (3-0-2).

The Vikings are 2-8 on the season, losing their last four games by a combined score of 36-0.

The first touch is set for 4:30 p.m.

Sturgeon Bay will try to build some positive momentum heading into the WIAA Baseball Tournament when they travel to Green Bay to face NEW Lutheran.

The Clippers snapped their four-game losing skid with a 6-1 win over Sevastopol in their last game. Emmett Brascnewitz and Curt Meyer each had two RBIs, while Caleb Plzak and Gavin Fernandez each drove in one in the Clippers victory.

The Blazers swept Algoma last week but were beat 11-4 by Crivitz on Saturday. They are 5-8 overall with a 2-7 Packerland mark.

Sturgeon Bay also learned that it will face Luxemburg-Casco on the road in the first round of the WIAA Baseball Tournament on May 26th.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls track team scored 143 points, topping second-place Southern Door (123) and third place Gibraltar (83) to win the Packerland Conference Championships in Brussels on Monday.

Cate Anderson swept the hurdles events, Hannah Sternard won every jump event, Andrea Wilke captured the pole vault crown, and the 4x400m relay dominated to pace the Clippers. The boys took fourth place overall with Craven Lautenbach's second place finish in the triple jump the team's best placing.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers baseball team scored the game's first three runs and never looked back in a 6-1 win over Sevastopol Monday.

Gavin Fernandez got things going in the second inning when he drove in a run on a groundout. Back-to-back hits would help the Clippers take a 3-0 lead in the third inning before the Pioneers got on the board in the bottom half of the inning on a Jack de Young single. 

The Clippers would get that run back and then some in the sixth and seventh innings thanks to Kurt Meyer and Emmett combining on RBI hits for the second time in the game. 

Chris Lodl earned the win for the Clippers, allowing a run on five hits and striking out four across four innings. Jack de Young took the loss as he allowed seven hits and five runs over six innings.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers baseball makes the short trip north on Highway 57 to face Sevastopol in Institute on Monday.

The Clippers were only able to squeeze one of its two games in last week against Peshtigo, falling 5-3 to the Bulldogs. Emmett Braschnewitz had a single and a double with two RBI in the loss. 

The Pioneers lost to Gibraltar 17-9 in its last game. Jack de Young, Frankie Ash, and Nick Peterson all had three hits and two RBI in the loss.

On the softball diamond, the Pioneers enter the game winners of eight of their last ten games, including a two-game sweep of Algoma Saturday. They have earned one of four one seeds in the Division 5 softball tournament.  The Clippers will play Kewaunee on Thursday to open their tournament run. They have lost three of their last four games, including a 7-0 loss to Kewaunee. The two teams will also begin play at 4:30 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers soccer team kept it close in the first half but host Xavier pushed forward as they went on to win 3-0 Saturday.

Andrea Brizuela Seijo snuck one goal and Keira Peterson got two goals passed Clippers goalkeeper Drew Starr to take the victory. 

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers baseball team lost both ends of their doubleheader on Thursday, losing to Peshtigo 5-3 and Mother Nature.

Emmett Braschnewitz had a single and a double with two RBI while Gavin Fernandez added a single and a RBI.

 Jace Johnson pitched and had four strikeouts, but was later relieved by Chris Lodl who ended with three strikeouts. 

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers Girls Soccer team traveled to Baileys Harbor on Thursday night, and after a slight delay due to lightning in the area, the girls picked up the win.

It was an exciting first half, and the Sevastopol/Gibraltar Vikineers had opportunities in the first half, including a penalty kick after a foul occurred just inside the 18-yard box. The PK ended up going just high of the goal. After a few halftime adjustments, the Clippers came out strong in the second half and were able to grab the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute. Emma Reichel had the game's only goal, which was enough for Clippers to leave Bailey's Harbor with the victory. Last night was Parent's night for the Vikineers. 

The next broadcast of Sturgeon Bay Clippers soccer is scheduled for Tuesday against Kiel. The Clippers will play against Xavier Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Playing in the Bay Conference, Xavier is 4-5-5 on the season. They broke a five-math winless streak with an 11-1 victory over New London their last time out.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers baseball team will stick around town Thursday for two games against the Peshtigo Bulldogs.

The Clippers' pitching has suffered as of late, giving up 10-plus runs in its last three games including 16 in their most recent defeat to Green Bay Preble earlier this week. The current three-game losing streak is on the heels of a two-game doubleheader sweep over Gibraltar, their last conference opponent.

The Bulldogs are 5-9 on the season, including an 8-0 loss to Auburndale in their last game. They have also lost three games in a row.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' soccer team makes the trip north on Thursday to face Sevastopol/Gibraltar in a CWC/Packerland matchup.

The Clippers tied New Holstein 1-1 in their last match with Drew Starr making numerous 1v1 saves to keep them in the game. The Vikineers remain winless on the season after dropping their last game to Sheboygan Falls 10-0.

Sturgeon Bay hosted Green Bay Preble at Memorial Field for a non-conference matchup.   The final score was 16-3 with Green Bay Preble winning.  

- Danny Lodl and Curt Meyer each had a home run for the Clippers. 

- Danny Lodl led the Clippers in RBIs, with two. Curt Meyer trailed him with one. 

- Caleb Plzak had a double. 

- Chris Lodl, Jace Johnson, Emmett Braschnewitz, and Bryce Plzak all pitched this evening. As for strikeouts, Lodl and Plzak each had three, and Johnson had two. 

The Luxemburg-Casco's track and field teams were in the conversation of winning the whole Two Rivers Invitational last Friday with a host of strong performances.

The boys took third place with 87 points, finishing behind Little Chute and Green Bay Preble. John Larson, Isaac Vandenbush, Logan Vandermause, and the 4x200m relay all brought home titles. The girls finished just 20 points behind first place Two Rivers thanks to event wins by Taylor Thiry and the 4x400m relay.

Cate Anderson brought home Sturgeon Bay Track and Field's lone title at last Friday's Two Rivers Invitational.

Anderson took 1st in the 100m hurdles and fifth in the 300m hurdles to pace the Clippers in the meet. Three other girls placed in the top five. Tatum Routhieaux just missed out on winning the 110m hurdles, but ran a personal record to finish in second.

The Sturgeon Bay softball stays at home Monday to play a single game against Oconto.

The Clippers blew out Gibraltar 22-0 in its last game while the Blue Devils remain undefeated in conference play and 8-1 overall on the season. They shutout Peshtigo 5-0 in their last game. 

Game time is set for 5 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers will turn the lights on at Memorial Field for its 6:30 p.m. game against Green Bay Preble Monday night.

The Clippers lost a pair of games Saturday to undefeated Chilton. Game one ended in a 1-11 loss. Chris Lodl and Braeden Haines each claimed one hit each, with Braeden's hit claiming him an RBI. Chris Lodl controlled the mound claiming five strikeouts before he was relieved by Brody Kollath. Game two ended in a 1-14 loss. The Clippers got the bats swinging some more in game two. Danny Lodl, Curt Meyer, and Chris Lodl all had hits of their own; Curt Meyer's double was the highlight of the day. Bennett Johnson controlled the mound, claiming two strikeouts of his own, until he was relieved by Emmett Braschnewitz who claimed one strikeout. 

The Hornets are 10-3 on the season, winning three of their four games in the month of May.

Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Sturgeon Bay golf team's improving play earned them their first victory of the season Thursday at Peninsula State Park Golf Course in Ephraim.

The Clippers shot a 177, four strokes ahead of second-place Peshtigo and seven strokes better than third-place Southern Door.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers softball team just needed three innings to beat Gibraltar Thursday 22-0.

The Clippers scored at least one run in all three innings and batted around in the second and third to force the mercy rule. Five players scored at least three runs in the game. Mackenzie Burlo delivered one of the game's big blows with a home run while Tori Alger and Caprice Carbajal each had multiple hits.

Anna Jarosh and Quincy Chomeau contributed the only hits for the Vikings, which dropped its second consecutive game by more than 20 runs. 

A second-half goal to tie the game was the only thing that could dim an otherwise spectacular performance by Sturgeon Bay goalkeeper Drew Starr in a 1-1 draw against New Holstein.

Emma Reichel got the Clippers on the board in the first half with a goal to make it 1-0. New Holstein would register the equalizer in the second half thanks to the foot of Lauren Danes.

Head coach Jeff Schaefer credited Starr for the draw, saying "she played an incredible game, made numerous 1v1 saves, if it hadn’t been for Drew’s play in goal, Sturgeon Bay would have lost the game."

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers swept a two-game set from Gibraltar on the road Thursday evening. 

In game one, Jace Johnson threw a shutout to lead the Clippers past Vikings 3-0. 

The pitching was strong on both sides. Johnson struck out six while the Vikings pitchers sat down six as a staff. The Clippers got things moving in the second inning.  An error scored two runs for the Clippers.  Johnson was credited with the victory for the Clippers. Johnson lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out six. Sam Lindenberg took the loss for the Vikings. Lindenberg surrendered three runs on nine hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking zero. The Clippers had nine hits in the game.  Braeden Haines and Curt Meyer all managed multiple hits for the Clippers in the win. Sam Lindenberg, Cooper Cole, Will Friedenfels, and A. Purinton registered singles for the Vikings. 

In game two, the Clippers snagged a late lead to beat the Vikings 4-3.  The game was tied at three, with the Clippers batting in the top of the fifth when Bryce Plzak drew a walk, scoring one run.  Sam Lindenberg drove in one when he doubled in the first inning. After the Clippers scored one run in the top of the second, the Vikings answered with one of their own.  The Clippers scored when Danny Lodl singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.  The Vikings then answered when Lindenberg doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Chris Lodl pitched the Clippers to victory. The righty surrendered three runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five. Ryan Jorgenson took the loss for the Vikings, pitching four and a third innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out four. Emmett Braschnewitz, Caleb Plzak, Luke VanderLeest, and Lodl all had one hit to lead the Clippers. The Vikings racked up five hits.  Lindenberg and Rylan Caldecott each had multiple hits. Brady Kita provided great defense in the second game, committing no errors on five chances.

Sturgeon Bay's Cate Anderson faced tough competition last Friday and won at the St. Nortbert Elite Meet.

Anderson won her heat in the 100m hurdles before taking second in the finals. She also took fourth in the 300m hurdles event.

Tatum Routhieaux was just as impressive to lead the boys. He took third in the 110m hurdles finals after taking the same place in his heat. He also took fifth in the 300m hurdles event.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers soccer team looks to pick up a victory this week when they welcome New Holstein to Clark Field.

The Clippers played Ashwaubenon to a 2-2 draw earlier this week with Josie Rangel registering both tallies. New Holstein is 2-4 on the season after falling to Sheboygan Falls in their last match a week ago.

First touch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

All Door County teams trailed Oconto, but it was Sturgeon Bay that had the upper hand over all other Door County at Monday's Packerland Conference Meet at The Orchards in Egg Harbor.

The Clippers scored 186 over nine holes, just one stroke behind first-place Oconto. Southern Door took fourth with a score of 193 while Sevastopol and Gibraltar did not have enough golfers to score as a team.

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' soccer team played FRCC opponent Ashwaubenon to a 2-2 draw Monday night in Sturgeon Bay.

Both teams needed only one player to do their damage with  Josie Rangel scoring both Clippers and Nadia Perez registering the tallies for Ashwaubenon.

The Clippers are now 4-4-1 on the season. 

On Monday evening, Sturgeon Bay traveled to Kewaunee to play a double header. With double headers, the first game counts towards conference standings, while the second game does not. Here are the stats:

Game 1:

Final Score: 2-8 Kewaunee wins

- Bennett Johnson had two RBI's; both runs were scored by Braeden Haines.

- Danny Lodl pitched the first five innings and finished with four strikeouts, but was relieved by Bennett Johnson in the sixth inning who ended with three strikeouts. 

Game 2:

Final Score: 2-1 Kewaunee wins

- Emmett Brascnewitz had a double. 

- Cole Frangipane had an RBI; Emmett Braschnewitz scored the run. 

- Jace Johnson led the pitchers in strikeouts with four.
