Lemieux takes silver in Canada; Madsen picking up wins in Fargo

Two Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol wrestlers are finding success in two different countries this week.

 

Across the border in Canada, Tiani Lemieux represented Wisconsin in the North American Indigenous Games held in Halifax, Canada with a silver medal-winning performance. The Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol state qualifier won her first three matches against Hannah Dedam (New Brunswick), Chasity St.John (Nunavut), and Jade Shalton (Ontario) before falling to Alberta's Danyka Mikyl LaBelle. 

 

Spencer Madsen is getting his work in during the  2023 US Marine Corps USAW 16U, Junior National Wrestling Championships in Fargo, ND. You can find his results below in the freestyle competition with his Greco-Roman matches coming up.

Sturgeon Bay holds Permit to Practice July 19th

Sturgeon Bay High School will be holding a "Permit to Practice" Registration for fall sports on Wednesday, July 19th, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. 

 

A parent or player can sign up for the permit to practice for the SBHS Fall Sports season. The player will have to pay the $25 athletic fee, pay any outstanding school fines, and serve any outstanding detentions before being able to practice. With an Athletic Trainer, the player must submit their WIAA Sports Physical Form or Alternate Year Card. They must also confirm or complete their imPACT testing, which is done every year. 

 

The registration will be held in the MS Office. The HS front and back entrances are under construction and cannot be used as a point of entry. 

 

The football team has their first scrimmage on August 11th in Wautoma, the girls golf team has their first meet in Oconto on August 15th, the girls swim team has their first meet on August 19th, the boys soccer team has their first match against Notre Dame on August 22nd, and the cross country team kicks off in Gibraltar on August 24th.
