Clippers look for back-to-back home wins

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team will host Two Rivers in a non-conference game on Monday night. 

 

The Clippers are entering this contest after beating Oconto this past Thursday in a high scoring affair, winning 85-77. The Clippers are 3-2 in their last five games, and are looking to keep the momentum rolling as they reach the final stretch of their regular season schedule. Sturgeon Bay is led by Isaak Aune and Preston Newton who are averaging 14 and 10 points per game respectively. 

 

Two Rivers comes in with a season record of 5-10, and having lost four consecutive games. The Purple Raiders are led by Brady Richards who is averaging 10 points per game. 

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

Clippers fall to Bulldogs in Packerland matchup

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team hosted the Peshtigo Bulldogs in a Packerland Conference matchup on Friday night. 

 

The Clippers couldn’t answer what the Bulldogs had on defense and ended up losing by a final score of 61-35. The loss marks the fifth in a row for the Lady Clippers. 

 

Sturgeon Bay will next be in action on Tuesday as they host Sevastopol.

Clippers top Blue Devils in high-scoring affair

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team hosted the Oconto Blue Devils on Thursday night in Packerland Conference play. 

 

The Clippers offense was on all night on Thursday, as they finished the game with a total of 85 points. The Blue Devils tried to answer that, but were unable to match the production of the Clippers and lost by a final score of 85-77. 

 

Sturgeon Bay will next be in action on Monday night, as they will host Two Rivers in a non-conference match.

Clippers look to stop losing skid at home vs. Bulldogs

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team will host Peshtigo in a Packerland Conference game on Friday night. 

 

The Clippers are currently on a 4 game losing streak, losing two non-conference games and two conference games in that span. They will try and bounce back and get back in the win column with a win over the Bulldogs on Friday night. 

 

Peshtigo comes in at 12-4 and is tied for second in the conference standings with Kewaunee. They will look to keep that position with a win over the Clippers on the road. The Bulldogs are led by Sydney Lund who is averaging 20 points per game. 

 

Tip is set for 6:30 p.m.

Clippers look to get back in the win column vs. Blue Devils

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team is getting set to host the Oconto Blue Devils on Thursday night in Packerland conference play. 

 

The Clippers are coming off of a tough loss to N.E.W Lutheran on Tuesday night, losing that game by a score of 81-77. The Clippers have now lost consecutive games and are hoping to cap that losing skid with a win over the Blue Devils. The Clippers are led by Isaak Aune who is averaging 13 points per game, and Preston Newton who is averaging 9 points per game. 

 

Oconto comes in fresh off of a loss against Southern Door on Thursday, and they too are wanting to get back into the win column. The Blue Devils are led by four players who are averaging double figures with Kadin Baxter (17 PPG), Christian Koch (12 PPG), Luke Krueger (11 PPG) and Carter Koch (11 PPG). 

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

 

Clippers fall just short of Blazers

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team traveled to Green Bay on Tuesday night to take on the N.E.W Lutheran Blazers in Packerland play. 

 

The game had high stakes as N.E.W had the potential to fall out of the conference lead with a loss. It was a battle throughout but the Blazers would escape with a 4 point victory with a final score of 81-77. 

 

Sturgeon Bay has now lost two consecutive games and will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Oconto with tip set for 7:30 p.m.

Clippers hit the road to face Blazers

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team will be on the road Tuesday night, as they get set to take on N.E.W Lutheran in Packerland conference play. 

 

The Clippers are coming off of a tough 2 point loss to Kewaunee last Friday night after winning their two games prior. They will look to get back in the win column with a win over the Blazers. Isaak Aune leads the Clippers on the season averaging 13 points per game, while Preston Newton is averaging 9. 

 

The Blazers come in tied with Peshtigo for the conference lead, after losing their last matchup to Southern Door on Friday night. N.E.W is led by three players who are averaging double figures, Tristian Lynch (19), Lucas Dhein (14), and Elijah Meerstein (13).

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

Clippers no match for Blue Devils

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team faced an uphill battle on Monday night facing the undefeated Oconto Blue Devils on the road. 

 

Oconto’s offense was firing on all cylinders in the first half and it helped them take a 19 point lead into the halftime break. The Blue Devils would then step up on the defensive end and hold the Clippers to just 7 second half points. The Clippers would end up losing by a score of 78-35. The loss marks the fourth straight for Sturgeon Bay. 

 

The Clippers face another tough test as they will host Peshtigo on Friday.

Clippers look to stop losing skid vs. Blue Devils

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team will travel to Oconto on Monday night to take on the Blue Devils in Packerland conference play. 

 

The Clippers have lost three straight with their last loss coming against Chilton over the weekend. The Clippers will look to gain a little bit of momentum with a win over the Blue Devils, but a tall task stands in front of them as Oconto remains undefeated on the season. 

 

As for Oconto they are coming off of a win against Southern Door on Thursday and are looking to keep their perfect season alive. 

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. from Oconto High School.

Clippers fall to Storm in Packerland play

The Sturgeon Bay  boys’ basketball team traveled to Kewaunee on Friday night to face the Storm in conference action. 

 

It was a battle throughout, but the Storm were able to come away with the two point victory and win the game by a score of 63-61. The win moved Kewaunee to 5-2 in the conference which is good enough to put them in third, and the Clippers moved to 3-5 which places them sixth. 

 

Sturgeon Bay will look to get back in the win column as they travel to N.E.W Lutheran on Tuesday night. 

Clippers face Storm in Packerland play

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team is traveling to Kewaunee on Friday night to take on the Storm in conference play. 

 

The Clippers are coming off of a big win against Gibraltar on Tuesday night, while Kewaunee also is coming off a hard fought victory against Southern Door. 

 

The Clippers come in with a conference record of 3-4 and are led by Isaak Aune who is averaging 13 points per game. 

 

The Storm are 4-2 in the conference and 2.5 games back of the top spot. They are led by Ben Heim who is averaging 21 points per game, and Cameron Cullen who is averaging 15 points per game.

Clippers crushed by Blazers

The Sturgeon Bay Lady Clippers hosted N.E.W Lutheran on Thursday night in Packerland play. 

 

The Clippers were unable to take a lead in the game, trailing N.E.W for the entirety of the game. N.E.W held the Clippers to 38 points in the game, and was able to win by a final score of 67-38. The loss marks the eleventh of the year for the Clippers and their second consecutive loss. 

 

The Clippers will travel to face the undefeated Oconto Blue Devils on Monday.

Lady Clippers look for quick turnaround against Blazers

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team will travel to N.E.W Lutheran to take on the Blazers in Packerland conference play on Thursday night.

 

 Sturgeon Bay has won two of their last three with their latest matchup being a loss to Roncalli in non conference play. Sturgeon Bay will look to try and regain momentum with a win over the Blazers. The Clippers are currently 2-10 overall and the Blazers have a record of 4-9.

Clippers beat Vikings in Packerland thriller on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar boys’ basketball team traveled to Sturgeon Bay to take on the Clippers in Packerland conference play on Tuesday night. 

 

The night got off to an emotional start with the recognition of Clippers coach Jim Benesh for being selected to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. 

 

The Clippers came out of the gates hot and were able to turn defensive pressure into offense to make the game tied heading into the halftime break. The second half started off with a bang for the Clippers with Isaak Aune hitting a mid range jumper and two 3 point attempts to post 8 points in a matter of minutes in the second half. From there the Clippers would match any momentum that the Vikings had by beating the Vikings press, answering Gibraltar baskets with baskets of their own, and making their free throws in the closing seconds to take home a 60-57 win over the Vikings. 

 

Gibraltar had three players in double figures led by Jake Schar with 16, followed by Sam Lindenberg with 15 and Trevor Ash with 10 off the bench. 

 

Sturgeon Bay was led by Isaak Aune who had 19 and Preston Newton who added 13. 

 

The Clippers will next be in action on Friday as they travel to Kewaunee to take on the Storm in another Packerland Conference matchup.

 

Clippers winning streak comes to an end vs. Jets

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team was unable to win their third straight game on Monday night losing to the Roncalli Jets by a score of 59-34. 

 

The loss for the Clippers kicked their record to 2-10 on the year with just 10 games remaining on their regular season schedule. 

 

The Lady Clippers will next be in action on Thursday January 20th as they travel to Green Bay to take on the N.E.W Lutheran/Prov. Academy Blazers with tip set for 7:30 p.m.

Clippers take on Vikings on 105.1 The GOAT

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team is set to host the Gibraltar Vikings on Tuesday night for what is expected to be a unique night at Sturgeon Bay. 

 

Sturgeon Bay picked up their second win of the season last Friday, beating Algoma 64-46. The Clippers are looking to keep that momentum rolling as they host Gibraltar on Tuesday night. It is setting the stage to be a one of a kind night at Sturgeon Bay, as during halftime of the game, head coach Jim Benesh will be recognized for his induction into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. 

 

The Vikings come in having lost back to back matchups, and are led by Sam Lindenberg who is averaging 21 points per game and Will Friednfels who is averaging 10 points per game. 

 

The game will be broadcast on 105.1 The GOAT with Tanner DeGrave and Jacob Nate on the call with pregame starting at 7:00 p.m. followed by tip at 7:30

Clippers girls looking for third straight win over Roncalli

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team will travel to Roncalli on Monday night to take on the Jets in nonconference play. 

 

The Lady Clippers have been playing their best basketball of the season as of late, beating Gibraltar and Green Bay East for back-to-back wins. The Clippers are looking to keep that momentum rolling to improve their standing in the second half of the season. 

 

As for the Jets, they are looking to turn their luck around as they have lost their last five games in a row. So far this season, the Jets are being led by Lauren Stangel who is averaging 6 points per game. 

 

Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. from Roncalli High School.

Clippers get big win over Wolves

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team was able to beat Algoma by a score of 64-46 on Friday night in Packerland Conference play. 

 

The Wolves took a 21-20 lead into the halftime break, but Sturgeon Bay would answer with perhaps their best second half of the season to end up taking the 18 point win. Isaak Aune led the Clippers with 18 points, while Gannon Evers added 16, and Preston Newton added 11. 

 

The Wolves were led by Carter Zimmerman who posted 28 points, while Carter Zimmer added 12.

 

The Clippers will next host Gibraltar in a game that will be broadcast on 105.1 The GOAT.

Clippers face Wolves in Packerland Conference battle

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team will travel to Algoma to face the Wolves on Friday night conference play. 

 

The Clippers are coming off of a tough loss against Chilton on Tuesday, in a game where they had the lead going into halftime, but were not able to hang on in the second half losing by 6. The loss for the Clippers marks their sixth in a row, and they will try and get back in the win column over the Wolves on Friday. The Clippers are led by Isaak Aune who is averaging 12 points per game. 

 

The Wolves are coming off a conference loss to Southern Door their last time out. This game will be the first game for the Wolves in nearly a week. The Wolves are looking to avoid losing back to back games in front of their home crowd on Friday night. The Wolves are led by Carter Zimmerman who is averaging 23 points per game, and Kaden Vardon and Owen Robertson who are averaging 12 and 11 points respectively.

Lady Clippers win back to back games

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team welcomed Green Bay East to town on Thursday night in a non conference match. 

 

The Clippers were able to pick up their second consecutive win, beating Gibraltar 51-47, followed by a win against Green Bay East 52-42. The Clippers had 3 players in double figures with Tori Alger leading the way with 15 points. Sierra Arneman added 13, and Autumn Rass chipped in 11. 

 

Green Bay East was led by Judit Munoz-Lopez who posted 30 points. 

 

The Clippers will next be in action Monday as they travel to Roncalli with tip set for 7:00 p.m.

Lady Clippers set to host Red Devils

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team will be hosting the Green Bay East Red Devils on Thursday night in non conference play. 

 

The Lady Clippers are looking to keep the momentum going as they are coming off of their first win of the season, and first win in the Packerland Conference. Autumn Rass led the Lady Clippers with 14 points in that game and is one of the leading scorers on the season for Sturgeon Bay. 

 

As for the Red Devils, they have yet to win a game this season, losing their first twelve games to start the year. They are led by Judit Munoz-Lopez who is averaging 8 points per game.

Clippers boys host Chilton for early tip

The Sturgeon Bay boys' basketball team hopes to grab a home victory Tuesday night when it hosts Chilton.

 

The Clippers could not dig out of an early 20 point hole as it fell to Green Bay East on the road 67-44. Isaak Aune scored 11 points and Luke Vanderleest chipped in 10 in the loss. Chilton saw a slim two-point halftime lead disappear drastically in its last game, eventually falling to Kiel 60-40.

 

The game will tip off an hour earlier than usual for a Packerland home contest at 6:30 p.m.

Clippers fall to Red Devils for 5th straight loss

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team traveled to Green Bay East to take on the Red Devils in non conference play on Thursday night. 

 

The Red Devils proved to be too much for the Clippers to handle, beating them by 23 with a final score of 67-44. The loss marks the 5th straight for Sturgeon Bay. 

 

Sturgeon Bay will next be in action on Tuesday January 11th as they host Chilton in another non conference game with tip set for 6:30 p.m.

Clippers defeated by Bulldogs

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team traveled to Peshtigo on Thursday night to take on the Bulldogs in Packerland Conference play. 

 

The Bulldogs started out hot and never looked back, winning the game by a final score of 83-28. The loss for Sturgeon Bay marks their eighth in a row to start the young season. The Clippers turn right around and look to turn the tide as they host Algoma on Friday January 7th in another Packerland Conference game.

Clippers look to gain first win vs. Bulldogs

The Sturgeon Bay girls’ basketball team will be traveling to Peshtigo on Thursday to face the Bulldogs in Packerland Conference play.

 

The Clippers come into this matchup losing their first seven games of the season, with five of those losses coming against conference opponents. There is still a lot of season left and the Sturgeon Bay girls are looking to start their turnaround with a win at Peshtigo on Thursday.

Clippers look to avoid 5th straight loss against Green Bay East

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team will be traveling to take on Green Bay East in non conference play on Thursday. 

 

The Clippers are coming off of a loss to conference rival Southern Door and are looking to avoid losing their fifth game in a row on Thursday. Sturgeon Bay was without leading scorer Isaak Aune against the Eagles and will hopefully be getting him back in the near future. Danny Lodl led the Clippers against the Eagles with 17, while Chris Lodl had 10. 

 

Isaak Aune is leading the Clipper offense averaging 12 points a game and Preston Newton is the other Sturgeon Bay player averaging double figures with 11.

Clippers fall to Eagles on 104.1 WRLU

The Sturgeon Bay Clipper boys’ basketball team was defeated by the Southern Door Eagles in a Packerland Conference matchup on Tuesday night. The Eagles took the double digit lead early and never looked back winning by a score of 72-40. 

 

Southern Door opened up a double digit lead early in the first half and carried a 37-18 lead into halftime. 

 

The Clippers showed a little resistance early in the second half, but the Eagles overcame that run and added more to their lead courtesy of Sturgeon Bay turnovers. 

 

Sturgeon Bay was never able to cut that deficit below the 15 point mark, which helped Southern Door win the cross-county rivalry. 

 

Freshman Drew Daoust led the Eagles with 24 points with 15 of those points coming in the second half, Jack Peterson and Taylor Schaefer were the other two starters for the Eagles who were in double digits with 10 points, and Nic Pierre added 10 off the bench for Southern Door. 

 

The Clippers were led by Danny Lodl who had 17 points, and Chris Lodl was the only other Clipper in double figures with 10 points. 

 

Sturgeon Bay (1-7) will next be in action on Thursday January 6th as they travel to take on Green Bay East.

Clippers host Eagles on 104.1 WRLU

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team will host Southern Door on Tuesday night in Packerland Conference play. 

 

The Eagles split a pair of games in the Mineral Point tournament on December 28th and December 29th, losing the first to Mineral Point and taking the second against Black Hawk. Drew Daoust is leading the Eagle offense in scoring averaging 16 points per game. Southern Door is 1-2 in Packerland play so far this season and are looking to get to .500 with a win over Sturgeon Bay. 

 

As for the Clippers, they come in having lost 6 of their first 7 games of the season, with their lone win coming against Sevastopol. The Clippers have two players averaging double digit points on the year with Isaak Aune averaging 12 points per game and Preston Newton averaging 11 points per game.

Clippers girls' offense stumped in Two Rivers

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers could never get their offense going as they lost to Two Rivers on Monday 57-18 in girls' basketball action.

 

The Clippers could only manage nine points each half against a tough Raiders squad that is now 8-6 on the season. Lauren Alger led all Clippers with five points in the loss.
