Clippers boys to host Algoma on 103.3 The Clipper

After falling to the Eagles earlier in the week, the Sturgeon Bay Clippers boys basketball team will look to bounce back as they host the Algoma Wolves Thursday night.

The offense of the Clippers struggled at times against the over-aggressive Southern Door defense, who managed to get 15 steals from Sturgeon Bay. Isaak Aune will look to have a bounceback game as well against the Wolves, as he was held in check for most of the game, finishing with 30 points. Sturgeon Bay split the season series against Algoma last season, losing the most recent matchup at the end of the season 62-59.

For Algoma, they are coming off of their best game of the season, rolling over the Sevastopol Pioneers 70-21 Tuesday night. Kaden Vardon had his best night of the young season as well, finishing with 23 points. Owen Robertson and Grant Vandervest also joined the party of scoring in double digits, with 11 and 10 points for the Wolves guards. Algoma will enter the matchup against the Clippers at 2-4 overall and 1-3 in Packerland conference play.

Gary Barta will be on the call from Sturgeon Bay on 103.3 The Clipper, WBDK HD-2 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com. Pregame is set for 7:15 with tipoff at 7:30 P.M. for the Packerland matchup.

Sturgeon Bay fails to contain Daoust, fall to Eagles on 103.3 The Clipper

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers were defeated by the Southern Door Eagles 70-51 Tuesday night behind a 34 point outburst from Drew Daoust.

The Eagles started the game off fast, going on a 13-0 run to start the game, not letting the Clippers score until the 9 minute mark of the first half. Taylor Schaefer was doing all the work down low and at the Free Throw line early for the Eagles, as they continued to hold on to their double digit lead.

At the half, the Clippers were only able to carve up 13 points throughout the first 18 minutes, lead by Isaak Aune with 5 of those. Southern Door was lead by Daoust, who had 10 at the break.

Once senior guard Derick Ayala-Zeno got into foul trouble however early in the second half, the tides started to shift. Daoust began to find mismatches in the defense down low in the post and behind the arc, and the Eagle lead was as much as 25.

Once Ayala-Zeno was back on the floor, he and Calvin Richard would begin to knock down some shots from three to cut back into the Eagle lead, but Daoust was too much. Answering their shots with his own, Daoust ended with 34 points. Richard and Ayala-Zeno would end with 14 and 10 respectively.

The player of the game was Eagle sophomore Drew Daoust, who recorded his second straight game of over 30 points in the 70-51 win.

Sturgeon Bay boys travel south to Southern Door on 103.3 The Clipper

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers boys basketball team will hit the road Tuesday night in the county rivalry as they take on the Eagles of Southern Door.

Sturgeon Bay, who are fresh off of a 49 point victory over the Sevastopol Pioneers, currently sit at 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Packerland. The top three scorers on the season for the Clippers did exactly that against Sevastopol, with Isaak Aune scoring 18, Calvin Richard scoring 18 and Garrett Ulberg scoring 16. Sturgeon Bay fell in both matchups to the Eagles last season, but will look to change the tides Tuesday.

Southern Door found themselves going 1-1 in the Cedarburg tournament with a loss to Cedarburg, and an 80-56 win over Destiny. Drew Daoust has gotten off to a very strong start to his sophomore season so far, with a 42 point outburst in that win over Destiny. The Eagles are 4-3 overall, and 2-1 in Packerland conference play, and hope to make it 3-1 after Tuesday night.

Gary Barta and Lucas Stephenson are set to call the matchup on 103.3 The Clipper, 96.7 WBDK HD-2 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com. The pregame show is set for 7:15 with tipoff set for 7:30 P.M.

Sturgeon Bay girls struggle against Southern Door

On Friday night, Sturgeon Bay lost 37-76 to Southern Door. The Clippers were led in scoring by Freshman Regan Kasten with 10 points to go along with double digit rebounds for the first of many Double-Doubles. Senior Autumn Rass scored 8, sophomore Dasha Yeltysheva and senior Emma Reinhardt also chipped in 6 points.

Clipper boys top Pioneers

The Clippers welcomed the Sevastopol Pioneers in Packerland Conference play on Thursday night. The Clippers jumped out in front very quickly and did not turn back. An offensive outburst led to a 53-17 lead at the half for Sturgeon Bay. A strong finish to the game led the Clippers to their second conference win of the season by a score of 87-38. The Clippers are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Southern Door to take on the Eagles. The Clippers welcomed the Sevastopol Pioneers in Packerland Conference play on Thursday night. Sturgeon Bay girls host county rival Southern Door

One of the best rivalries in the Packerland conference will once again take place as the Sturgeon Bay Clippers will host the Southern Door Eagles in Girls Basketball action Friday night.

The Clippers will be looking to snap a 4 game losing streak on the season, dating back to their win over NEWCHAA on November 22nd. Sturgeon Bay is led by senior Autumn Rass, who currently sits in 3rd for scoring averages so far this season, averaging 15.2 points. The Clippers four losses have come against the top four teams in the Packerland, including undefeated Oconto and Sevastopol.

For Southern Door, they have lost 5 straight games after going 3-0 in their early non-conference stretch. Strong guard play and the return of Allianna Dufek helped the Eagles early on in the season, but have not been able to pull out wins after falling to the Pioneers of Sevastopol by 2 points. The Eagles scoring has been balanced between Dufek, Payton Gilbertson, and Ashlyn Delfosse, who are both capable of hitting an outside shot if needed.

Tip from Sturgeon Bay is set for 7:30 P.M.

Sturgeon Bay boys set to host Sevastopol on 103.3 The Clipper

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers will play host to their neighboring Packerland conference rival as they host the Sevastopol Pioneers Thursday night.

Sturgeon Bay has rebounded nicely after their slow start to the season, splitting their last 4 games evenly. Calvin Richard has been a big part of that success, as he has been able to stretch out the Clipper offense by hitting his three point attempts. Alongside two other good three point shooters, Isaak Aune and Garrett Ulberg, each of those players are able to get open shots when they want. Sturgeon Bay took down Sevastopol in both matchups last season, winning 79-43 and 91-59.

For Sevastopol, they have struggled to open the season, losing their most recent game to NEWCHAA 62-56. The Pioneers have not been able to generate enough offense to stop the offense they take on, as the Southern Door Eagles were able to defeat them 94-40 in Sevastopol’s most recent conference matchup. Nick Peterson and Frankie deYoung have lead the Pioneers early in the season, who will need everyone to step up against a strong Clippers offense.

Gary Barta and Lucas Stephenson will be on the call in Sturgeon Bay on 103.3 The Clippers and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com. Pregame will begin at 7:15 with tip set for 7:30 P.M.

The second half started with Sturgeon Bay on a small run before Peshtigo was able to make a run of their own and get up 11 with about five minutes to go. The Clippers battled back to within seven before Peshtigo was able to make their last run to go up by 14 and win the game.

Sturgeon Bay boys hit the road to Peshtigo for Packerland matchup

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers will travel up to Peshtigo to take on the Bulldogs after their big win over the Oconto Blue Devils Tuesday.

After taking down Oconto 74-70 behind an entourage of threes from Calvin Richard and Isaak Aune, the Peshtigo Bulldogs are in the sights of the Sturgeon Bay Clippers. Richard and Aune have led the team in scoring this season, and proved it against Oconto with 24 and 20 points respectively between the two players.

The Peshtigo Bulldogs however, will be a tough measuring stick and test for the Clippers, as they are coming off of a win against the Southern Door Eagles by 10 points. Kaine Fort and Mason Doberstein have performed well for the Bulldogs so far, with Fort averaging a double double with points and rebounds. The co-champions of the Packerland last season will look to keep their Packerland record perfect against the Clippers.

Tip from Peshtigo is set for 7:30 P.M.

Clippers girls basketball hosts Bulldogs

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls basketball team will look to pick up their first conference win of the season against the Peshtigo Bulldogs.

Despite the tough start for the Clippers record wise, Autumn Rass and Dasha Yeltysheva have averaged some impressive numbers to start the season. Rass has scored 15.5 points per game and averages a high of five steals per game this season. Yeltyshava shares the lead on the team for steals per game with 1.7 adding to her 10.2 points per game. Sturgeon Bay played the Blazers of NEW Lutheran close in their last time on the court, but ended up losing by 14.

For the Bulldogs of Peshtigo, they have started the season 1-4, but picked up their one win in the Packerland conference, beating the Southern Door Eagles in their last conference game. Brooklyn Phillips and Akira Smalls are two players for the Bulldogs that have the ability to score in bunches. Peshtigo also gets a lot of steals on the defensive end, taking the ball away from the Eagles 12 times in their matchup.

Tip from Sturgeon Bay is scheduled for 7:30.

Clipper girls fall short to NEW Lutheran

The Sturgeon Bay Girls Basketball Team fell to the NEW Lutheran Blazers 45-59 on Tuesday night. After a slow start, Sturgeon Bay battled back to make it a tightly contested game but could not prevail. The Clippers were led in scoring by sophomore Dasha Yeltysheva and senior Autumn Rass, who both scored 11 points.  The Clippers will play at home against the Peshtigo Bulldogs on Thursday night.

Richard shoots Clippers to win over Oconto on 103.3 The Clipper

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers took a lead early in the game, and never gave it away as the Clippers defeated the Oconto Blue Devils 74-70 on 103.3 The Clipper Tuesday night.

Isaak Aune and Garrett Ulberg led the way early for Sturgeon Bay, as the Clippers were strong from beyond the arc throughout the whole night. The Clippers would go back and forth with the Blue Devils throughout the first half, but some strong offensive rebounding by Gannon Evers to end the half and 5 threes in the half total had Sturgeon Bay out to a 29-25 lead.

The second half was the half of Calvin Richard. After Isaak Aune got the scoring starting for the Clippers, Calvin Richard went on a run of his own, hitting 3 of his 6 2nd half threes to put Sturgeon Bay up by 13. Carter Koch and Kadin Baxter would not go down without a fight however, as they would go on to score 17 and 25 respectively in the loss. Richard would go on to finish with 24 on 8 total threes, and key free throws down the stretch by Jackson Starr put it away for Sturgeon Bay.

The player of the game for the Clippers was Calvin Richard, who finished with 24 points with 8 total threes throughout the game.

Sturgeon Bay will next hit the floor when they travel to Peshtigo to take on the Bulldogs Friday night.

Clippers girls travel to face NEW Lutheran

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers girls' basketball team heads to Green Bay Tuesday for a rescheduled game against the NEW Lutheran Blazers.

The Clippers are 1-3 on the season after falling to Oconto 82-40 in their last game. Autumn Rass leads the team in scoring with 17 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding at five rebounds per game. Teammate Dasha Yeltysheva is similar as she is tied for the team lead in assists at 1.7 per game and second on the team in scoring at 11 points per game.

The Blazers lost to Algoma last Friday 40-24 to drop to 1-3 on the season. They are led in scoring by Ebony Sinclair's 11 points per game.

Tip off in Green Bay is set for 7:30 p.m.

Clippers host Blue Devils on 103.3 The Clipper

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers will play host to the Oconto Blue Devils in boys basketball Packerland Conference play Tuesday night.

Sturgeon Bay (1-3 Overall, 0-1 Packerland) has gotten off to a slow start so far on the season, but will look to turn it around in their first home conference game this season. Isaak Aune has been a bright spot on the season so far, averaging 18.8 points per game in his four games played. If the Clippers want to change the tides, they will have to rebound the ball much better, as second chance points hurt them against the Blazers of NEW Lutheran.

Oconto (2-1 Overall, 0-1 Packerland) is coming off of a conference loss against Southern Door where they let star point guard Drew Daoust drop 33 points. The Blue Devils will want to sure up their defense before taking on the Clippers, who will have multiple options on who can score. Oconto is led by Kadin Baxter, who has gotten off to a hot start on the young season.

Gary Barta, Tim Kowols, and Lucas Stephenson will have the call from Sturgeon Bay on 103.3 The Clipper, 96.7 WBDK HD-2, and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com with pregame beginning at 7:15 and tip set for 7:30 P.M.

Clippers boys burned by Blazers

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers opened Packerland Conference play on Thursday night with a matchup at N.E.W. Lutheran High School against the Blazers. The first half was a back-and-forth battle with teams trading baskets. Late in the first half, the Clippers were able to tie the game up at 24, but the Blazers responded with a strong run that gave them the 15-point lead at halftime. Despite a late push by Sturgeon Bay in the second half, N.E.W. Lutheran pulled away with an 80-63 victory. The Clippers' next matchup will be their home opener on Tuesday night against Oconto.

The game will be broadcast on 103.3 The Clipper with the pregame show beginning at 7:15 p.m. followed by tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

Clippers girls travel to Oconto for Packerland opener

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers will open their Packerland conference schedule up against Oconto on the road Friday night.

Sturgeon Bay was able to come away with a victory before the Thanksgiving break last time they took the floor, so will be coming into the opener with some confidence. Autumn Rass has been a great spark for the Clippers early this season, as she finds herself among the top of the Packerland leaderboard in scoring so far this season with 17.3. New coach Casey Harrington will lead the Clippers into their opener against the Blue Devils looking to keep the momentum going.

Oconto also has some momentum and confidence going into this game, as they are fresh off of a victory over the Southern Door Eagles Tuesday in Brussels. On top of that same leaderboard with Rass in 2025 guard Addisyn Viestenz who has averaged 20.1 points per game so far this season.

Tip from Oconto is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.

Sturgeon Bay set for road matchup with Blazers

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers will open up their Packerland conference schedule on the road Thursday night as they take on Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy.

Isaak Aune has been the one to lead the Clippers so far this season as expected, but Calvin Richard has stepped up well to compliment Aune on the court. Richard scored 8 in their win over Coleman as Aune scored 24, and in the loss to Crivitz Aune had 13 to go with Richards 11. Two good options for the Clippers should bode well in the Packerland, as they take on one of the favorites in the conference this season in their opener.

NEW has only played one game this season so far, which was a solid 61-39 win over the Bonduel Bears. Tristian Lynch and Elijah Meerstein have been solid so far for the Blazers this season, with both scoring over 15 in the opener, and Lynch leading with 18.

Tip is scheduled for 7:30 in Green Bay.
