Seven athletes across three spots were recognized by the Packerland Conference for their talents on the field this past spring season.

Sturgeon Bay soccer falls to New Holstein on The Clipper

Two early goals by New Holstein sank the Sturgeon Bay Clippers in their 3-0 loss in the opening round of the WIAA Soccer Tournament Thursday evening.

 

Brianna Guelig and Lauren Danes scored the first two goals for the Wolves to give the home team the 2-0 lead at the break. Lauren Danes scored a goal a second-half insurance goal to put a cap on the Clippers' season. The Clippers end the season with a overall season record of 7-7-2, including a conference mark of 4-2-1.

Sturgeon Bay soccer to face New Holstein in tournament opener

The two teams that finished third and fourth in the standings in the EWC/Packerland Conference will face each other in a win-or-go-home game in the WIAA Tournament as Sturgeon Bay travels to New Holstein.

 

The Clippers won two of their final three matches, falling to Kiel 5-0 in the season finale last Tuesday. New Holstein won three of their last four matches, falling to Winneconne 3-2 in their finale. 

 

In their previous match up, Emma Reichel scored the only goal for the Clippers while Drew Starr kept her team in it as the two sides played to 1-1 draw.

 

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
