Clippers soccer quiets Thunder on U-102.1

Category: Local Sports

The Sturgeon Bay soccer team did not require the full 80 minutes to defeat Seymour on its home pitch Thursday night, instead beating Thunder 8-0 in 72 minutes.

Daniel Wienke was busy early with assists on goals by Anderson Starr (2') and Jaxzen Bleck (5'), before putting his own shot in the net in the 24th minute. Bleck registered his brace in the 25th minute to give the Clippers a 4-0 lead at the break.

The onslaught did not stop in the second half, with Isaiah Eliason and Finn Stevenson scoring goals within seconds of each other in the 50th minute.

Starr (57') and Stevenson (72') went on to complete their braces later in the second half with the latter ending the game short of full time. The Clippers will have a day to recover before traveling to the east side of Titletown to battle Green Bay Preble. Bryan Mazur will have the call on U-102.1 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 11:45 a.m. followed by the kickoff at noon.
