Pioneers come up empty against Oaks on 105.1 The GOAT

The Sevastopol Pioneers saw their season come to a close in North Fond du Lac on Friday night, losing their sectional final matchup to the Oakfield Oaks 38-0.

The Oaks scored touchdowns on their first four possessions to take a commanding lead early against the Pioneers. The main culprits were quarterback Austin Harmsen and wide receiver Brayden Glugla, who extended drives several times on third down and linked up for three touchdowns of more than 20 yards. Even leading up to Lennon Rauls' one-yard touchdown run, it was Glugla who was able to haul in a long throw from Harmsen to set up the score. Defensively, the Oaks never allowed quarterback Logan Schuh to get comfortable in the pocket, nor could the Pioneers generate enough movement on the line to get the offense moving in the right direction. The Pioneers' best drive of the first half still ended in heartbreak as Kolten Welch ripped the ball from Reid Kacmarynski's grasp for an interception.

The two teams traded fruitless drives to end the first half and throughout the third quarter before Xavier Mielke found the endzone on a 25-yard rush to put the game into a running clock. Bo Tanck returned from injury and provided some sparks on offense, but penalties and a stout Oaks defense prevented the Pioneers from sustaining any drives.

Head coach Daniel Judas said postgame that it was an emotional huddle following the game, expressing his gratitude for being able to coach the team an extra three weeks.

The Pioneers end their season with an 8-3 mark while the Oaks move onto the state semi-final game against Gilman next weekend.

Pioneers silence Thundercatz on 105.1 The GOAT

The Sevastopol Pioneers scored on five consecutive drives to set the tone early and cruise to a second-round win over Marion/Tigerton 50-16 on the road Friday night.

After turning away the Thundercatz on their first possession, Logan Schuh capped off the Pioneers' open possession with a 14-yard rushing touchdown. Thundercatz's Sam Anhueser answered the bell with a rushing touchdown of his own, but was matched quickly by the Pioneers' Gavin Jorns, barreling his way into the endzone to make it 12-8.

The Pioneers stood tall for the rest of the first half, not allowing a score on three consecutive drives, including an interception by Cash Kuehn. The offense fed off its defense with the Pioneers cashing in courtesy of rushing scores by Chase Haberli and Schuh to make 28-8.

The two teams traded scores to start the second half, with Schuh scoring his third touchdown of the day for the Pioneers while the Thundercatz's Braylon Mielke also found the endzone to make it 36-16. It would stay that way until the fourth quarter when the Pioneers' offense responded to a lost opportunity on the goal line with touchdown runs from Jorns and Ray Johnson to put the game on ice.

The Pioneers will be in action next Friday night when they travel to Oakfield to take on the Oaks at 7 p.m. The Oaks earned their trip to Level 3 thanks to a 32-26 win over Belmont on Friday. The game will be carried live on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.

Pioneers open playoffs vs. Eagles on 105.1 The GOAT

For the first time since 2018, the Sevastopol football team will play in the postseason when they face Suring at home on Saturday.

When they Pioneers are in the postseason, they have proven to be a formidable opponent. They have not lost a postseason game since they lost to Siren in their first trip to old 8-Man Football Jamboree in 2015. They won their Jamboree games in 2016 and 2017 before running the table in 2018 to win the first-ever WIAA Eight-Man Football State Championship with a 38-30 victory over Luck. The combination of small playoff fields and poor records kept the Pioneers out of the playoff picture until this year.

In their season finale, the Pioneers powered past Rosholt 66-24. Logan Schuh finished the night with 322 total yards and five touchdowns, while Brett Haberli added 149 yards and a score on the ground. Reid Kacmarynski recorded two receiving touchdowns, and Roman LeClair contributed 103 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Sevastopol boys basketball look to be Stronger Together for Lucia and Blake

This offseason, our coaches searched for a motto that could truly unite us — something simple but powerful to lean on when times get tough. We found those words in the phrase “Stronger Together.”

That message became even more meaningful this summer when Coach Brian Butch joined us to run a youth camp here in Sevastopol. As we talked, he shared that his young son, Blake, was once again battling a brain tumor and preparing for his second surgery. Just minutes later, I looked across the gym and saw the sister of another Sevastopol student, Lucia Ramirez, who is bravely fighting leukemia. In that moment — only five minutes before I placed the order for our “Stronger Together” team shirts — I knew this motto was meant to be more than just words for our program.

On December 9th, at our home game against Sturgeon Bay, we will honor both Blake Butch and Lucia Ramirez as we raise awareness and funds to help in the fight against childhood cancer. We invite our entire community to join us, wear the “Stronger Together” shirts, and fill the gym with support as we show that when we come together, we are truly stronger. All proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go to Blake and Lucia.

BLAKE'S STORY

In 2021, just before turning two years old, Blake Butch was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In May of 2022, he bravely underwent surgery, and doctors were able to remove the tumor. Sadly, in 2025, Blake was diagnosed again with another tumor, and he now faces a second surgery this September. Through it all, Blake has shown incredible courage and strength beyond his years. He recently had another surgery and is currently in recovery.

LUCIA'S STORY

In March of 2025, while in second grade at Sevastopol, Lucia Ramirez was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After only a month of treatment, her diagnosis was changed from standard risk to high risk, leading to months of intense chemotherapy, steroids, lumbar punctures, and bone marrow tests. She has endured multiple hospital stays due to infections and dangerously low immune counts. Currently, Lucia is in a difficult treatment phase that includes high-dose methotrexate, lumbar punctures, vincristine every two weeks, and nightly chemotherapy pills. Despite all she has faced, Lucia has fought with courage and determination, working hard to regain strength and enjoy the moments of childhood she so deserves.

Join us in spreading a message of unity, hope, and resilience. By wearing a Stronger Together T-shirt, you’re not just supporting a campaign-you’re standing with a community that believes in lifting each other up. Every shirt is a symbol of solidarity, and every person who wears one helps amplify the power of togetherness. Be part of the movement. Stand strong, Stand together. Get your T-shirt today and help us make a difference, because we are always stronger together!

Sevastopol mounts fourth-quarter comeback through rainy weather Friday night

A turnover on downs from NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation with two minutes left opened the door for a dramatic Sevastopol rally, and senior quarterback Logan Schuh delivered. Schuh scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 3-yard run with 36 seconds remaining, lifting the Pioneers to a 22-21 victory on a rainy Friday night.

Sevastopol got on the board first when Bo Tanck punched in a 5-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter. The Pioneers failed on the two-point try, and NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation answered quickly with a 17-yard touchdown run and PAT to take a 7-6 lead. The Blazers added another score before halftime to build a 14-6 advantage at the break.

The wet conditions dictated the second half as footing and ball security became issues. Sevastopol missed a chance to even the game, and NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation capitalized with a 97-yard drive to push its lead to 21-6 heading into the fourth quarter.

With their backs against the wall, the Pioneers struck back. Schuh connected with Reid Kacmarynski for a 91-yard touchdown pass with three minutes left, and the successful two-point conversion pulled Sevastopol within 21-14. The defense responded with a key stop, turning NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation over on downs, and Schuh went back to work. A pair of deep completions set up the game-winning score, with Schuh keeping it himself for the 3-yard run.

Schuh finished with 160 rushing yards, 239 passing yards, and two total touchdowns, while Kacmarynski hauled in 160 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Sevastopol (5-2) handed NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation (3-4) its first loss in four games and will close out the regular season at home against Rosholt next Friday at 7 p.m.
