Pioneers struck down by Rangers and rain

The Sevastopol Pioneers did not even get a chance for a comeback in its 30-6 loss to Wausaukee on Friday.

Kamden Stumbris had a hand in all four touchdowns for the Rangers, rushing for three scores and throwing for the other. He started the game with a 46 yard touchdown run in the opening minutes to set the tone for the rest of the game. The Pioneers were eventually able to get on the scoreboard late in the second quarter when Jack de Young found Drake Olsen from 27 yards out.

The game was called at halftime due to weather. De Young finished the game with 42 yards passing and 39 yards on the ground.

Pioneers football opens roadshow at Wausaukee

The Sevastopol Pioneers football team begins its season-long road trip on Friday when it travels to Wausaukee.

The interesting set of circumstances for the Pioneers started last fall when they wanted to play, but ultimately could not get on the field enough. It only played two games and had several others canceled before pushing their season to the spring. After losing their first three games, they were able to secure bragging rights with a 56-40 win over Gibraltar. That will make the last time they play a home game until next year because of field renovations.

The Rangers went 2-4 in the fall in a season that was feast or famine. They outscored their opponents 100-18 in their two wins, but were buried by a margin of 182-22 in their four losses.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

According to the district, over 150 families as well as the middle school and high school coaching staff participated in the event. Jones' keynote speech was about creating a winning culture and emphasizing the important attributes that create it.  Jones has gone 118-8 during his tenure at Kimberly, including a stretch of 70 wins in a row.

Sevastopol volleyball goes undefeated in summer league

The Sevastopol volleyball is looking strong heading into their fall season.

The Pioneers went undefeated in the DK Summer Volleyball League with wins over Gibraltar, Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door, and Algoma.

Earlier this summer, the team also worked with Ryan Schopf, the head volleyball coach of Lakeland University.

The action comes approximately three weeks ahead of the start of their fall season. The Pioneers will open the year off with scrimmages against Shawano, Algoma, and Kohler before they head to Wisconsin Dells for the Friendship Tournament on August 27th.
