Pioneers boys sprints past Tigers in second half

The Sevastopol boys basketball team outscored Chilton 32-16 in the second half on Thursday to cruise to the 58-34 win.

 

The first half wasn't too shabby for the Pioneers either with Andrew Wiesner, Bo Tanck, and Cash Kuehn each scoring at least seven points in the frame to stake the team to a 26-18 advantage at the break. Kuehn and Tanck increased the offensive prowess coming out of the locker room as they ended their evening with 18 points apiece. Wiesner added 11 points and Damien Lardinois pitched in seven points in the Pioneers victory. Wyatt Gregory hit four three-pointers en route to a 19 point evening.

 

 

Pioneers boys basketball hosting Tigers

The Sevastopol boys basketball team will host the Chilton Tigers on Thursday. The Tigers are coming off a 71-30 loss to Kiel.

 

The Pioneers will look to build off a 58-49 victory over Southern Door. Sevastopol’s scoring was balanced, with Logan Schuh and Bo Tanck leading the way with 12 points apiece. Cash Kuehn added 10, Reid Kacmarynski scored nine, Andrew Wiesner had eight, and Damien Lardinois chipped in seven.

 

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Pioneers outlast Eagles on their way to conference victory

Sevastopol (8-7) boys played host to Southern Door (2-13) on Tuesday night in a matchup that was competitive throughout. 

Southern Door has given teams a tough second half of basketball coming back in multiple games as of late, however Sevastopol was able to do the opposite. After they went into half time tied at 26, the Pioneers came out in the second half and created space for themselves.

 

Sevastopol outscored Southern Door 32-23 in the second half on their way to a 58-49 victory to hold strong in their Packerland conference standings. 

 

Both teams had three players reach double figures in the game. Bo Tanck and Logan Schuh led the Pioneers with 12 points while Cash Kuehn registered 10 points. Lauden Berg paced the Eagles with a game-high 15 points while Eli Jadin chipped in 14 points and Ryker Lohrey added 10 points.

Sevastopol will face Chilton on Thursday at 7 p.m. wrapping up a three-game homestand. 


The Eagles are in the middle of a 5-game road stretch and will travel to Brillion on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tipoff. 

Pioneers boys' basketball hosting Eagles

The Sevastopol boys’ basketball team is set to host the Southern Door Eagles on Tuesday. The Pioneers sit sixth in the Packerland Conference standings, while the Eagles remain at the bottom, still searching for their first conference win of the season. Sevastopol is looking to bounce back from a 62-53 loss to Peshtigo.

 

Southern Door is also coming off a loss to Peshtigo, falling 64-56. Lauden Berg led the Eagles with 28 points and seven rebounds, while also pacing the defense with seven blocks and four steals.

 

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Pioneers girls earn win over rival Clippers

The Sevastopol girls basketball team had two players reach double-figures on Monday to beat Sturgeon Bay 58-34 at home.

 

Defense led to the Pioneers' offense as they garnered 16 steals in the contest.

 

Sydney Peterson and Sienna Cain each scored 19 points with the latter registering 10 rebounds in the Pioneers win. 

 

Regan Kasten led the Clippers with 12 points, while Cora Frangipane, MaKenna Coyhis, Genevieve Austad and McKenna Poh all had the next highest points score at four points each. 

 

"We toggled for the lead in the first half, and fell too far behind to recover after half," said Clippers head coach Rachel Miller after the game. "It was a tough fought game!"

 

The Pioneers will next compete in a conference game at Algoma on Friday while the Clippers will be at home on Thursday to welcome Southern Door.

Sevastopol Boys' .500 after Loss to Peshtigo

It's been a tough stretch for the Pioneers in Packerland Conference play as they have lost four straight including two by one score. Tuesday night, the Pioneers were downed by Peshtigo 62-53. 

A battle in the first half led by small runs from both sides ultimately ended in a nine point win for the Bulldogs who were being hosted by Sevastopol. 

Peshtigo has now caught some fire after a rough stretch of their own in the conference falling to common opponents. 

Sevastopol will have a week to regroup before they are tested by Southern Door next Tuesday who has been in quite a few close contests as of late. The two teams played back on December 4, a game the Pioneers dominated offensively winning 77-50 and starting the season 3-0. 

Pioneers girls bit by Tigers

The Sevastopol girls' basketball team had two players post double-doubles but it was not enough as they lost to Gillett 46-34 on the road Monday night.

 

Braelyn Staats led the Pioneers with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Sienna Cain added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

 

The Pioneers will hit the road on Thursday next when it plays a conference game against Southern Door.

 

 

Pioneers boys' basketball taking on Bulldogs

The Sevastopol boys’ basketball team will host the Peshtigo Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are coming off a 65-57 loss to Menominee.

 

The Pioneers are looking to recover after a 77-63 loss to Oconto. Andrew Wiesner led Sevastopol with 22 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Cash Kuehn recorded a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and a block. Bo Tanck added 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and drew a charge.

 

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Sevastopol girls make way to Gillett

The Sevastopol girls' basketball team opens their week with a road matchup at Gillett on Monday.

 

The Pioneers are trying to return to the win column for the first time since a two-game win streak against Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay in early December. In their last game, Sienna Cain scored 10 points and Brynn Schartner added five points in a 59-27 loss to Wabeno-Laona over the weekend.

 

The Tigers enter the matchup with a 7-6 record, winning two of their last three games following a four-game losing skid. 

 

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Pioneers' girls drop non-conference affair

Sevastopol (2-10) drops the first of a pair of mid-season non-conference matchups this tiime to Wabeno-Laona, 59-27. 

Senior Sienna Cain led the way for the Pioneers with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals. She was supported by junior Brynn Schartner with 5 points, but an impressive 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. 

 

Next up, a road trip to Gillet for Monday's non-conference game to bookend the weekend. 

Sevastopol boys can't weather the offensive storm from Oconto

Oconto's double-digit threes lead them past Sevastopol in a 77-63 win that was led offensively by Mason Colvin. 

 

Colvin challenged the Pioneers' defense all night finishing with 32, 5 of the team's 10 triples, and 11-13 at the freethrow line helping to close out the game for the Blue Devils. 


Sevastopol didn't go down without a fight though, without Logan Schuh, Cash Khuen and Andrew Wiesner both eclipsed 20 points with Wiesner leading the Pioneers at 22. The pair also knocked down all 5 of the team's threes. 

 

The Pioneers saw the halftime deficit of 7 double in the second half as the Blue Devils slowly pulled away on their way to the win. Sevastopol will be back at home Tuesday facing Peshtigo at 7 p.m. 

Pioneers boys' basketball hit the road to face Blue Devils

The Sevastopol boys’ basketball team travels across the bay Friday to take on the Oconto Blue Devils. Oconto is coming off a 66-54 victory over Peshtigo.

 

The Pioneers dominated Wausaukee 77-26 in their last outing. Bo Tanck led Sevastopol with 16 points, two rebounds, an assist and six steals. Cash Kuehn added 12 points, four rebounds, five assists and six steals. Zual Valdivia and Damien Lardinois each chipped in 11 points.

 

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Offensive struggles lead to loss for Sevastopol

Peshtigo built a large lead and wouldn't let go of it after Sevastopol struggled to get going offensively to begin the game. The Bulldogs expanded on their first half lead for the 67-38 win. 

 

Sevastopol fell behind by double-digits early, but turned it on late in the first half and went into the break trailing by just 8, 29-21. However, Peshtigo came out of the break and controlled the game once again shutting down the Pioneers offense. 

It's been an up-and-down fight on the offensive end for Sevastopol so far this season and they will face a strong Wabeno/Laona team this Friday at 7:15 p.m. 

Pioneers girls' basketball on the road against Bulldogs

The Sevastopol girls’ basketball team hits the road Tuesday to face the Peshtigo Bulldogs. The Bulldogs’ last outing saw them fall to Lena 64-41. The Pioneers are looking to bounce back from a 52-23 loss to Oconto. Sydney Peterson led Sevastopol in scoring with eight points and added two steals. Brynn Schartner followed with six points and five rebounds.

Pioneers boys sprint past Rangers

A 30-plus point halftime lead was more than enough to stave off any threats of a comeback in Sevastopol's 77-26 win over Wausaukee on Monday.

 

Bo Tanck, Cash Kuehn, Damien Lardinois, and Zaul Valdivia all scored at least six points in the first half as the Pioneers sprinted out to a 44-13 halftime lead. Things did not get better for the Rangers as the Pioneers' defense allowed just five made shots from the field after the break. Four Vikings players reached double-figures behind 16 points from Tanck, 12 points from Kuehn, and 11 points from Valdivia and Lardinois. Ten different Pioneers scored at least two points in the win. Gavin Thomson led the Rangers with seven points while two others scored five points.

 

The Pioneers play again on Friday when they travel around the bay to meet Oconto for a 7 p.m. tip.

Pioneers boys return home to face Rangers

The Sevastopol boys basketball team will try to erase last weekend's disappointment with a home matchup against Wausaukee on Monday.

 

The Pioneers saw a halftime lead slip in the second half as thefinal score went in favor of NEW Lutheran 63-57. Sevastopol's senior Logan Schuh guided the Pioneers offense with 13 points and was supported by fellow senior Damien Lardinois adding 12. The biggest difference came from the free throw line. Sevastopol went 3-for-3 while N.E.W. was 12-for-20.

 

The Rangers have lost four of their last five games en route to a 2-6 record on the season. Gavin Thomson leads the team with 13.6 ppg and 12.4 rpg while teammates Ryan Huber (10.7 ppg and 7.4 rpg) and Jaden Lee Morgan (7.4 ppg and 7.4 rpg) are also on the doorstep of averaging a double-double a game.

 

Tip-off is set for 7:15 p.m.

Sevastopol boys can't hold onto first half lead

At the break, Sevastopol lead 32-28 in a competitive affair with N.E.W. Lutheran on Saturday. 

 

It was a joint effort on offense in the second half from N.E.W. with Hayden Schultz leading the way topping all scorers with 28, supported by Kenji Lange with 12 and Brett Gajeski adding 9, most of which came in the second frame. 

 

Sevastopol's senior Logan Schuh guided the Pioneers offense with 13 points and was supported by fellow senior Damien Lardinois adding 12. 

 

The biggest difference came from the free throw line. Sevastopol went 3-for-3 while N.E.W. was 12-for-20. The final score went in favor of Lutheran 63-57. 

 

Sevastopol will get another home game in a short turn around facing Wausaukee January 12 at 7:15 p.m. 

Sevastopol downed at home by big runs from Oconto

Friday night's game started with an 11-0 run by the Blue Devils and from there Sevastopol couldn't catch back up, falling 52-23. 

Oconto controlled the ball on both sides from tip off using their press to create turnovers and allow for extra opportunities on the offensive end. 

Sydney Peterson led the Pioneers with eight points and two steals while Brynn Schartner added six points and five rebounds.


The Pioneers have been on a losing skid, but will face the opponents they have beaten, Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay, later this month so good things seem to be on the horizon. 

Sevastopol will first face Peshtigo January 13 at 7 p.m. 

Pioneers boys' basketball facing Blazers at home

    The Sevastopol boys’ basketball team is preparing for this Saturday as they are set to face the Green Bay NEW Lutheran Blazers. The Blazers' last outing saw them beat Peshtigo 63-59. The Pioneers are looking to bounce back from an 87-36 loss to Kewaunee. Bo Tanck was the Pioneer’s leading scorer with 13 points to go along with 6 rebounds and a steal, followed by Logan Schuh with 10 points, also having 9 rebounds and 2 steals.
    Saturday’s tip-off is at 2:00 PM.
 

Pioneers girls' basketball facing Blue Devils at home

The Sevastopol girls’ basketball team is hosting the Oconto Blue Devils this Friday. The Blue Devils' last outing saw them beat Peshtigo 57-43. The Pioneers are looking to bounce back from a 55-38 road loss to Suring. Sienna Cain led the Pioneers in scoring with 21 points, also having 8 rebounds, 7 steals, and a block. Sydney Peterson contributed 11 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. 
    Friday’s tip-off is at 7:00 PM. 
 

Pioneers girls fall to Eagles

The Sevastopol girls basketball team had a near triple-double from Sienna Cain spoiled on Monday as they lost to Suring 55-38.

 

Cain scored 23 pts and collected eight rebounds and seven steals in the loss. Sydney Peterson added 11 pts, two rebounds, and a steal to the Pioneers' totals. 

 

The Pioneers will try to get back into the win column on Friday when they welcome Institute. 

 

Pioneers girls head to Suring

The Sevastopol Pioneers girls basketball team go back to work on Monday when they travel to Suring to take on the Eagles.

 

Playing at the Kress Event Center on the campus of UW-Green Bay, Sevastopol girls fell to Lena 44-17 last Tuesday. The Pioneers were behind 17-8 at halftime and kept the game within striking distance, but Lena found their rhythm in the second half putting up 27 on their way to outscoring Sevastopol 27-9 in a lopsided second half.

 

The Eagles snapped a three-game losing streak last Friday with a 64-29 win over St. Thomas Aquinas.

 

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Pioneers sunk by Marinette Friday night

Sevastopol was downed by Marinette on the road Friday night 63-50. 

 

The Pioneers trailed from the first bucket of the game, going down 2-0. They saw a 7-point deficit at the end of the first half turn into a double-digit loss. 

 

Sevastopol brought the game within a couple scores multiple times but Marinette would expand it back again. 

 

Bo Tanck made 11 free throws en route to a team-high 15 points. Logan Schuh chipped in 14 points and Andrew Wiesner added 10 points in the loss.

 

For the Pioneers, they have struggled to get going this season and will travel to Kewaunee Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. for a conference matchup. 

Pioneers boys' basketball on the road against Marines

The Sevastopol boys’ basketball team is hitting the road this Friday as they are set to face the Marinette Marines. The Marines are coming off a 76-37 loss to Menominee. The Pioneers are looking to build off their 67-28 victory over Lena. Leading the Pioneers in points was Cash Kuehn with 22 points, followed by Bo Tanck with 15. Daniel Castillo, Andrew Wiesner, and Logan Schuh contributed 7 points apiece. 

    

Friday’s tip-off is at 7:00 PM.
