Sevastopol volleyball battles familiar opponent in sectionals

The Sevastopol Pioneers girls volleyball team is coming off of their Regional Championship, as they get ready to take on top seeded NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy Blazers.

Sevastopol earned themselves a three seed in the tournament, and took down the number two seed Central Wisconsin Chrisitian in three sets. These two teams recently met in a Packerland conference match, where the Blazers came out victorious in a 5 set thriller. The Pioneers will look to turn that matchup their way on Thursday night.

For the Blazers, a first place finish in the Packerland conference was enough to get them a one seed overall in division four. The Blazers have only had to play two matches, where Sevastopol had to play three to win their region. It will be a good matchup in Green Bay between the two Packerland teams.

The match is set for 7:00.

That is the same course as the meet on Saturday, so Dadam is well set and well familiar with the course. He recorded a time of 19:28 there, and finished in 92nd.

Sevastopol had a strong girls cross country team this year, strong enough for them to finish second in the conference, ten points behind the Peshtigo Bulldogs. The Pioneers can give that success to Bea Dramm and Naomi Rikkola who have scored times of 21:28 and 21:32 respectively.

The meet will be at Meadow Links Golf Course in Manitowoc.

Sevastopol hosts Kewaunee in Packerland volleyball match

The Sevastopol Pioneers will welcome in the Kewaunee Storm for a Packerland volleyball matchup between two teams on the opposite ends of the conference standings.

Sevastopol (3-2 Packerland, 18-8 Overall), has played an impressive non-conference schedule, and have fared pretty well playing against those teams, even though the Pioneers have lost 2 out of their last 3 packerland matchups. Sevastopol will look to get right against the struggling Kewaunee Storm, who are last in the conference, while the Pioneers are tied for second.

Kewaunee (0-5 Packerland, 0-15 Overall), is still searching for that first win so far this season, and would have to play upset if they would want to beat the Pioneers on Tuesday night. The Storm recently won their first set since the first match of the season against Sturgeon Bay, but then got swept by Southern Door 3-0.

The match is set for 7:00 P.M. in Sevastopol.

Pioneers football clip Eagles

A fourth-quarter score proved to be the difference in a 20-18 Sevastopol win over Suring in Peninsula Conference Eight-Man Football action.

Logan  Schuh led the way for the Pioneers, accounting for a touchdown pass in the first and fourth quarters and a touchdown run in the third. His pass to Logan Retzlaff for the 18  yard touchdown broke up a string of two unanswered touchdowns by the Eagles' Rattin that put the Pioneers down 18-14. late.

The Pioneers find themselves south of the county line next Friday for a matchup against Algoma.
