Sevastopol boys season ends in the playoffs

The Sevastopol boys basketball team couldn't pull off an upset in the opening round of the WIAA Playoffs Tuesday night. The 11th-seeded Pioneers traveled to sixth-seeded Saint Mary's Springs and went home with an 82-62 loss. They lost despite a huge performance from junior guard Robby Pollman who poured in 26 points to lead all scorers. Sevastopol got down big early and trailed 44-20 at halftime. They actually outscored the Ledgers in the second half but it was not enough. Mitchell Waechter led Saint Mary's Springs with 21 points as they will move on to face number three seed Oostburg on Friday night. Sevastopol finishes the regular season at 5-17 overall.

Sevastopol hits the road to start journey to Madison

Sevastopol hopes to snap a three game slide when it travels to St. Mary’s Springs. It has a chance to do so if it can stop Cade Christensen, who is averaging almost a double-double a game with 20.5 points and 8.1 rebounds. Robby Pollman leads the Pioneers in scoring with almost 18 points per game. The game begins at 7 p.m.

Zoe Kuehn with big game but Sevastopol season ends

Sevastopol sophomore Zoe Kuehn did all she could to try to lead the Pioneers out of the opening round of the WIAA Playoffs Tuesday night. She poured in 25 of Sevastopol’s 41 points against Saint Mary’s Springs but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Ledgers. Sixth-seeded St Mary’s Springs defeated 11-seed Sevastopol by a final of 78-41. The Ledgers were led by Jenna Gilgenbach who had 31 points. Saint Mary’s Springs will take on three seed Oostburg on Friday night. The Pioneers finished the season at 5-18 overall.
