Sevastopol hosts home meet

Sevastopol is inviting three other schools to tackle the hills of Cherry Hills Golf Course Thursday afternoon as the area's other cross country teams travel elsewhere for invites.

 

The Pioneers will host Gibraltar, De Pere, and NEW Lutheran beginning at 4 p.m.

 

In their last time out, the Sevastopol cross country teams took advantage of a fast course at Mishicot to place high at the Jim Bremser Invite. Bea Dramm took 3rd place in the small school division with teammate Jolene Luedtke finishing in 10th place.

Sevastopol volleyball falls to Oconto

In the battle of the undefeated teams, the Oconto Blue Devils swept the Sevastopol Pioneers in three games Tuesday night.  Oconto took the three games by scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-21.  Sevastopol was led by Madi Volkman with 14 kills and Johanna Andreae with 8 kills.  Emma Stueber added 29 assists while Bailey Rikkola had 13 digs for the Pioneers. 

Pioneers, Blue Devils battle for top of volleyball mountain

Sevastopol and Oconto will battle for Packerland volleyball supremacy on Tuesday night.

 

The Pioneers split its matchups against Two Rivers and toppled Shiocton, Bonduel, and Reedsville twice Saturday at the Algoma Invitational. The state-ranked Blue Devils beat Marinette, Oconto Falls, Sheboygan Falls, and West De Pere before falling to Green Bay Southwest in the West De Pere Invite. Both teams are currently undefeated in Packerland play. 

 

First serve is set for 7 p.m.

Sevastopol football downed in weekend matchup

Being the lone area team to play a football game this Saturday, Sevastopol had a tough showing against Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas, losing 45-6. Lena/STA had just an 8-0 lead after the first quarter, but the doors were blown open in the second frame, when the Pioneers were outscored 22-0. Sevastopol was down 30-0 at the half. 

 

In the third quarter, the deficit increased to 45-0 before Sevastopol finally got on the board in the fourth quarter. Emmett Tomaszewski scored the single touchdown for the Pioneers, on a 3-yard run. 

 

The loss drops the Pioneers record to 1-4 overall this season and their next game will be on Friday at home against Gillett. 

Pioneers volleyball tames Bulldogs

The Sevastopol Pioneers saw their success continue as they beat Peshtigo in four sets.

 

The Pioneers cruised to a 2-0 start with set wins of 25-12 and 25-19. The Bulldogs stole the third set 25-21 before the Pioneers finished things off in the fourth set by a score of 25-20.

 

Leading the way for the Pioneers was Madi Volkmann (15 kills), Alaina Schopf (10 kills), Emma Stueber (35 assists), and Bailey Rikkola (34 digs).

Dramm, Luedtke lead Pioneers at Mishicot Invite

The Sevastopol cross country teams took advantage of a fast course at Mishicot to place high at the Jim Bremser Invite.

 

Bea Dramm took 3rd place in the small school division with teammate Jolene Luedtke finishing in 10th place. The girls' team took 4th overall with 118. Head cross country coach Annie Kapolnek added  that the team finished behind two schools in their sectional next month, Cedar Grove- Belgium and Manitowoc Lutheran. Kapolnek said after the race that it was a "fast course and lots of good races, some PRs but work to do yet." The Pioneers also had two runners in the JV race.

Pioneer volleyball aiming for ten straight

The Sevastopol volleyball team has a chance to extend their impressive winning streak to double digits on Thursday when they host a solid Peshtigo squad. Sevastopol has a 13-3 record and Peshtigo will come into their place with an 11-5 mark this season. Sevastopol has also won nine games and has won all but two sets along the way. That streak includes regular season and tournament matchups. The opening serve for Thursday’s game is at 7:00 PM. 

Pioneers get road sweep

Sevastopol earned a non-conference victory in three sets in their visit to Mishicot on Monday. The non-conference win has been common for the Pioneers this season, as Monday’s was the tenth this season for the Pioneers. Including tournament play, Sevastopol has a 13-3 record to this point. The Pioneers will be back home on Thursday against Peshtigo, and first serve will be at 7:00 PM. 

Sevastopol visits Mishicot in volleyball action Monday

The Sevastopol volleyball team will hit the road Monday for a volleyball match against Mishicot.

 

The Pioneers have not played since they took four straight matches at the Suring Invite. Highlights of that tournament included Madi Volkmann's 27 kills, Johanna Andreae's 24 kills, Emma Stueber's 62 assists, and Bailey Rikkola's 36 digs along with 21 ace serves.

 

The Indians are 2-8 on the season, splitting their matches last week against Kiel (3-1) and Manitowoc Lutheran (0-3). 

 

The match is set for 7:15 p.m.

Pioneer football wins first game of season

The Sevastopol football team got into the winner’s circle for the first time this season, defeating Green Bay NEW Lutheran by a 32-8 final score. The win was the first time Sevastopol was able to put up multiple touchdowns this season, as they scored six points in each of their first three games. The Pioneers now have a 1-3 overall record. The next Pioneer matchup is a Saturday contest with Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas on September 25th. That game will kickoff at 1:00 PM and the Pioneers will be the home team. Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas is 4-0 so far this season, and coming off of a 69-8 win over Gillett. 

Sevastopol aiming for first win on Friday

Sevastopol football has been held to six points in their first three games, and looks to break through that ice on Friday when they visit Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation. According to wissports, the game is scheduled for 4:30 PM. The Blazers, similarly to Sevastopol, are 0-3 coming into the contest. The Pioneers have the offensive advantage, as the Blazers have yet to score this season. The two teams played to a shootout in the alternative spring season, with the Blazers winning 54-36. Sevastopol’s spring record was 1-3 and Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation had a 3-3 record. 

 

Sevastopol girls take fifth at Valders invite

The Sevastopol girls team held their own against some of the best teams in the state on a tough course Thursday afternoon. 

 

The Pioneers took fifth place in the varsity girls race, scoring 160 points. 

Bea Dramm led the team with a 10th place finish and Jolene Luedtke finished 13th. Naomi Rikkola, who is a dual sport athlete this fall, finished 30th to come in as the team's third runner. 

 

The team will have a week off before its next race at Mishicot.

Sevastopol cross country runs off to Valders

The Pioneers' cross country teams continue their busy week when they run at Valders Thursday afternoon.

 

Earlier this week, the Sevastopol girls team took eighth place at the Sheboygan Lutheran Invitational. Two girls medaled in the top 25 with Bea Dramm capturing 6th place and Jolene Luedtke taking 21st. 

 

Meeting the Pioneers in Valders will be Brillion, Chilton, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Hilbert, Howards Grove, Mishicot, New Holstein, Oostburg, Random Lake, Reedsville, Roncalli, Luxemburg-Casco, Sheboygan Falls and Two Rivers. The first race begins at 3 p.m.

Sevastopol, Gibraltar, and Algoma set to run at Sheboygan Lutheran

Three area schools will head south on Tuesday for a cross country invitational hosted by Sheboygan Lutheran. 

 

Algoma, Gibraltar, and Sevastopol are among the schools slated to run this afternoon along with Heritage Christian, Living Word Lutheran, Racine Lutheran, St. John's Northwestern Academies, Salam, Brillion, Campbellsport, Cedar Grove-Belgium, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, Howards Grove, Kohler, Manitowoc  Lutheran, Mishicot, Oostburg, Ozaukee, Random Lake, Roncalli, St. Lawrence Seminary, Winnebago Lutheran Academy, Washington County Home School Athletics, Kettle Moraine Lutheran, St. Mary's Springs Academy, and Reedsville.

 

The Pioneers have been winning plenty of hardware along the way while the Vikings and the Wolves have been able to put up strong performances despite their numbers.

Sevastopol girls take third in Roncalli XC invite

The Sevastopol girls cross country team made the trip home from Manitowoc with plenty of hardware.

 

Three girls medaled in the Top 20 with Bea Dramm taking 7th, Jolene Luedtke finishing 11th, and Naomi Rikkola collecting hardware at 20th. That led the Pioneers to score 102 points and coming in third as a team.

 

The Pioneers also had runners in both the boys and the girls' JV races.

Pioneers volleyball wins Suring Tournament

No extra sets were needed in Sevastopol's championship run at the Suring volleyball tournament on Saturday.

 

The Pioneers beat Stockbridge 25-7,  25-7,  Tigerton 25-17, 25-20, Bowler 25-19, 25-7
and Suring 25-8, 25-11. Leading the way in the four victories were Madi Volkmann (27 kills), Johanna Andreae (24 kills), Emma Stueber (62 assists) and Bailey Rikkola (36 digs 21 ace serves). 

 

The Pioneers are picking up where they left this spring when they made a deep run in the alternative fall tournament. They are 11-3 so far this season. 

Pioneers offense looking to get rolling in Florence

Sevastopol Football will try to get into the winners circle for the first time this season on Friday when they head to Florence. The Pioneers have been held to six in their first two games, coming away with two losses. Florence has a 1-1 record so far, including a 14-6 win over familiar area opponent Algoma. The last time the teams played was in 2019, when Florence won 60-0. Kickoff for the 2021 edition is at 7:00 PM. 

Pioneers too much for Eagles on Thursday

Southern Door came close to winning the second set in their volleyball match with Sevatopol on Thursday, but couldn’t quite pull through as the Pioneers won in three sets. Sevastopol won the first set, 25-11. Southern Door pushed the second set past the 25-point mark but the Pioneers won again, 27-25. Sevastopol finished the job in st three with a 25-17 win. The Pioneers are now 8-3 overall in the season, with four wins coming at the Adams-Friendship Invite. Sevastopol heads to Mishicot on Monday. Southern Door, who is now 0-1, faces Peshtigo on the road on Thursday. 

Pioneers defend home court in triangular

The Sevastopol Pioneers used their home-court advantage in their triangular, winning both of their matches. The Pioneers first beat Manitowoc’s Roncalli High School and then bested Kohler. The Pioneers are now 6-3 overall and will have their second conference match when they take on Southern Door on Thursday. The match will start at 7:00 PM in Brussels. 

Dramm, Pioneer girls top Algoma meet

Bea Dramm and the Sevastopol girls cross country team topped the field at the cross country meet hosted by Algoma on Tuesday.

 

Dramm's 24:07 on the 5K course was good enough for first place overall. Four of the top five scoring runners for the Pioneers finished in the top 10 overall.

 

The Pioneers did not field enough runners to score in the boys race.

Sevastopol cross country to take on Algoma course

The Sevastopol cross country team will take on a large field when it travels to Algoma for a meet to kick off the week.

 

In addition to the host Wolves, the Pioneers will take on Crivitz, Denmark, Lena, Mishicot, N.E.W. Lutheran - Green Bay, NEWCHAA  (Northeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschoolers Athletic Associaton), Oconto, Providence Academy (Green Bay), Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay, Wausaukee, and Wolf River Lutheran.

 

Bea Dramm got eighth place for the Pioneers and in the girls varsity division Sevastopol got sixth when they raced at De Pere last week.

Dramm medals at De Pere meet

In a cross country meet held at De Pere, Sevastopol, Luxemburg-Casco competed, and Kewaunee boys cometed, and one Sevastopol runner got into the top eight. Bea Dramm got eighth place for the Pioneers and in the girls varsity division Sevastopol got sixth and as a team Luxemburg-Casco got fourth place. 

 

In the boys division, Kewaunee got fourth place with Luxemburg-Casco right behind in fifth place. 

Pioneers take care of business against Clippers

The Sevastopol volleyball team won in four sets over the cross-town foe Sturgeon Bay. Sevastopol took the first two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-18 before Sturgeon Bay hung on to win the third set 25-22. Sevastopol closed out the contest in the fourth set with a 25-14 win. Leading the way for Sevastopol was Johanna Andeae with 13 kills and Madi Volkmann got 9. Emma Stueber was a passing machine for the Pioneers, with 32 assists and Bailey Rikkola had 28 digs. Sevastopol plays Southern Door next Thursday and Sturgeon Bay plays Shawano on Tuesday. 

Sevastopol football looks for bounceback against Suring

The Sevastopol Pioneers look to rebound from their loss last week when they play a home game against Suring.

 

The Pioneers could only muster a single touchdown last week against Wausaukee in its 30-6 loss. Jack de Young threw the lone touchdown pass in the third quarter as a part of a 42-yard passing night.

 

The Eagles tied its game in the third quarter before giving up 26 unanswered points in its 32-6 loss to Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas last week. Jeremy Hensel threw the Eagles' only touchdown in the game.

 

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
