Sevastopol boys bitten by Peshtigo

The Sevastopol High School boys basketball team came up short at Peshtigo Tuesday night, 58-36. The Bulldog defense proved to have a lot of bite, particularly in the first half when the Pioneers managed only 13 points.

Josh Pfeiger led the way with 10 outscoring even Robby Pollman who was limited to nine points as he was the focus of Peshtigo’s defensive scheme. Sevastopol’s next game is Saturday against Living Word Lutheran.

Sevastopol looks to rebound after tough loss

The Sevastopol Pioneers boys' basketball team will have to put last Friday in the rearview mirror when it travels to Peshtigo Tuesday evening for a conference matchup.

The Pioneers saw a four-point halftime lead disappear in the second half of its 73-70 loss to Oconto, which sits in the middle of the Packerland Conference pack. Robby Pollman pour in 25 points and Brent Haberli added another 17 in the loss. One team above the Blue Devils is the Bulldogs with a 5-3 Packerland mark. Coming off a 41-37 win over Green Bay West, the Bulldogs are led by Cade Tackmeier, who leads the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists on the season.

Sevastopol boys looks to regroup against Oconto

It has been over a week since the Sevastopol lost to NEWCHAA, but the Pioneers hope to return to the court healthy Friday night at home against Oconto.

A sickness that could have dated back to that Saturday loss led to the postponement of a matchup earlier this week. At the same time the Pioneers hope to snap a three-game losing streak overall and grab their first conference victory since January 7th against Algoma. Oconto is 4-4 in the Packerland Conference as they try to snap their only skid in search of its second win in their last five tries.

Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Pioneers breaks conference losing streak against Oconto

For the first time since the 2014-2015 season, the Sevastopol girls' basketball team got to enter the locker room after a Packerland Conference game with a smile on their face.

The Pioneers outscored the Oconto 36-26 in the second half to win the contest 60-51. It had been since a Valentine's Eve game against Sturgeon in 2015 that the Pioneers won a conference matchup. The Pioneers made life difficult for the Blue Devils defensively, holding them to under 28 percent shooting for the game. The Blue Devils did not do much to help their cause from the charity stripe either, making on 19 of its 33 attempts.

Pioneer girls look for first Packerland Conference victory

The Sevastopol girls' basketball team hit the road again Thursday night as they search for their first Packerland Conference win of the season in Oconto.

Zoe Kuehn leads the Pioneers in scoring and rebounds at around 15 and 7 on the year while Bailey Rikkola is pacing the team in the assists category at just under three a game.

Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol hosts Packerland double dual

Kewaunee is the only Packerland Conference not making the trip to Sturgeon Bay High School Thursday evening as Oconto and Peshtigo make the trip across the bay to battle Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol in high school wrestling.

It has been well over a week for both teams since they last competed on the mat with the Clippineers losing to the Eagles 54-21 despite winning the majority of the contested matches. Oconto and Peshtigo have struggled to field full squads in recent years with only five Blue Devils wrestling at January's Manawa Invitational and four Bulldogs getting matches at December's On The Water Classic.

The double dual meet has been moved up from its original start time to 6:30 p.m. Tim Kowols and Greg Letter will give updates on the Clippineer duals and possibly full matches during their broadcast of Southern Door wrestling. The matches can be heard on 104.1 WRLU and streamed worldwide at DoorCountyDailyNews.com, DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com, and the DoorCountyDailyNews.com mobile app.
