Pioneers silence Thundercatz on 105.1 The GOAT

The Sevastopol Pioneers scored on five consecutive drives to set the tone early and cruise to a second-round win over Marion/Tigerton 50-16 on the road Friday night.

After turning away the Thundercatz on their first possession, Logan Schuh capped off the Pioneers' open possession with a 14-yard rushing touchdown. Thundercatz's Sam Anhueser answered the bell with a rushing touchdown of his own, but was matched quickly by the Pioneers' Gavin Jorns, barreling his way into the endzone to make it 12-8.

The Pioneers stood tall for the rest of the first half, not allowing a score on three consecutive drives, including an interception by Cash Kuehn. The offense fed off its defense with the Pioneers cashing in courtesy of rushing scores by Chase Haberli and Schuh to make 28-8.

The two teams traded scores to start the second half, with Schuh scoring his third touchdown of the day for the Pioneers while the Thundercatz's Braylon Mielke also found the endzone to make it 36-16. It would stay that way until the fourth quarter when the Pioneers' offense responded to a lost opportunity on the goal line with touchdown runs from Jorns and Ray Johnson to put the game on ice.

The Pioneers will be in action next Friday night when they travel to Oakfield to take on the Oaks at 7 p.m. The Oaks earned their trip to Level 3 thanks to a 32-26 win over Belmont on Friday. The game will be carried live on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
