The Storm and the Huskies traded runs early before Kewaune came away with a one-run lead in the fourth inning. The Huskies broke through in the fifth inning with two runs and followed it up with one more in the sixth inning. Storm baseball leaves Oconto tied at five

The Kewaunee baseball will need a different day to settle its game against Oconto, leaving the game delayed at 5-5.

The Storm struck first in the second inning on a RBI single by Ethan Paplham and were threating to score more with the bases loaded, but the Blue Devils were able to avert the early disaster. After the Blue Devils tied the game in the third inning, the Storm put up a four-spot in the fourth inning, assisted by two Blue Devils errors after leading the frame off with back-to-back singles from Toby Kunkel and Paplham. The Blue Devils ensured more baseball would be needed with their own four-run rally in the sixth. According to GameChanger, the game was delayed in the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied at five with two outs.

Errors doom Storm in Manitowoc

Five errors made it hard for the Kewaunee baseball to climb back into a 5-1 loss at Manitowoc on Thursday.

It was 1-0 Ships in the third inning when the Storm committed three errors, lead to three more runs for the home team. The Storm finally scratched across a run in the fifth inning when they registered their one and only hit of the game off the bat of Waylon Delain. He was able to score on a sacrifice fly by Ethan Paplham. The Ships would get that run back in the bottom of the fifth inning on a run-scoring double by Benson Dickrell.

Jackson Walecka took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs (1 ER) on five hits while striking out three. Gabe Eichmann registered the win for the Ships, allowing one run (0 ER) on one hit while sitting down seven Storm batters.

The Storm scored another run in the fourth inning before hanging another crooked number in the sixth thanks to singles from Carlson and Toby Kunkel. Carlson led the way with two hits with three RBI while six other Storm players garnered at least one hit.

Paulsen did not need much to earn the complete game win. He limited the Bulldogs to just one hit while striking out 14.

Storm softball edged by Bulldogs

The Kewaunee softball team's comeback came up just short on Tuesday, falling to Peshtigo 4-3.

The one-run deficit was short lived as the Bulldogs extended the lead to two on a triple hit by Cami Finger, who later scored on the play due to a misthrow. It would stay that way until the fatal fouth inning when the Storm walked the first four batters before being cleared off by a triple. Storm pitching powers past Southern Door on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm were able to use a stellar pitching performance to get past Southern Door, winning 2-0, as heard on 104.1 WRLU on Tuesday afternoon.

Brett Paulsen took the hill for the Storm and was masterful, pitching 5.2 innings of perfect baseball before Braylon Berg bunted a single down the third baseline, Southern Door’s only baserunner of the game.  Paulsen struck out 12 over 6 total innings of work and earned the win.  Waylon Delain closed out the game with 2 strikeouts in the 7th.

Offensively, Kewaunee had plenty of traffic on the basepaths, working several walks off Drew Daoust, but couldn’t plate a run until the 3rd.  Ethan Pathan worked a walk, followed by back to back singles from Connor Kilgore and Brett Paulsen loaded the bases. Brady Pribek drove in a run on a fielder’s choice to put Kewaunee in front.  The Storm tacked on another in the 6th when they loaded the bases after a pair of walks sandwiched around a Diesel Bosdeck double. Alec Carlson got hit by a pitch to bring in the run, putting Kewaunee up 2-0.

After 4 games in 5 days, the Storm get some well deserved rest prior to a battle against Gibraltar on Friday for control of the Packerland Conference.

Storm rally falls short at home

The Kewaunee softball team could not dig all the way out of a hole against Chilton as they lost Monday night 12-9 in nine innings.

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Storm was able to answer with three runs in the bottom of the third as they took advantage of five free passes to first bases, including two bases-loaded walks. The Tigers responded with four runs in the top of the fourth inning as they scored five of the next six runs. The Storm would come back to force extra innings with four runs in the sixth and matching the Tigers with one in the eighth. The Tigers took the lead for good in the ninth when they stole home and laced a two-run triple. Breanna Riha, despite going 3-4 with a double, took the loss from the circle, allowing five runs (5 ER) on six hits. Vivian Bootz, Mariah Schlies, and Kambreia Last all drove in two runs in the loss.

Kewaunee looks to remain unbeaten in Packerland play on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm will be looking to remain undefeated in Packerland Conference play, and for their second win in as many days,  when they host the Southern Door Eagles on 104.1 WRLU.

Kewaunee won Monday, taking down Brillion 3-2, to move to a 7-3 record overall,  after a heartbreaking loss to Two Rivers on Saturday at Fox Cities Stadium. In Monday's contest, the Storm scored all three runs in the third inning thanks to a two-run double from Brett Paulsen that was preceded by Jackson Walecka stealing home on a wild pitch. A win would help the Storm keep pace with Gibraltar/Washington Island atop the Packerland Conference standings, who have been off since Friday’s 8-1 over Peshtigo, but are also in action Tuesday afternoon when they play Sturgeon Bay.

To do so, Kewaunee will have to get past Southern Door, which is fresh off dropping to 1-4 in the Packerland Conference standings after losing to Sturgeon Bay on Friday afternoon by a score of 6-2. In that game, a pair of back-to-back doubles by Nick Beck and Collin Everard drove in runs, staking the Eagles to a 2-1 lead, but the Clippers were able to piece together a rally late to take a win on the road.

Eric Fischer has the call on 104.1 WRLU. The pregame show starts at 4:45 p.m., and the first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

Storm falls to Raiders at Neuroscience Field

The Kewaunee baseball team jumped out to a 6-0 lead only to see it disappear in an instant in a 7-6 loss to Two Rivers at Neuroscience Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

A Brett Paulsen RBI single scored the first run for the Storm in the first inning and drove in another via a hit by pitch in the second inning as a part of a five inning frame. Ethan Paplham and Brady Pribek also delivered run-scoring hits as a part of the rally. The Raiders tied the game in the next inning as the registered six hits, including a two run triple by Chase Rohrer. The game would stay tied at six until sixth inning when Rohrer struck again with an RBI double.

Noah Hudson took the bulk of the damage for the Storm, allowing six runs on six hits in 1/3 of an inning. Paplham led the Storm with two hits while Pribek drove in a pair on one hit.

Storm shuts out Wolves ahead of Timber Rattlers game

The Kewaunee Storm baseball team scored three runs in the first inning and let Brett Paulsen do the rest in a 4-0 win over Algoma on Friday.

Brady Pribek opened the scoring with a two-run double and came around to score a couple of batters later to make it 3-0. Paulsen dealt from there, going 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing four hits while striking out 14. Braden Leist, Charlie Prokash, Jordan Fenendael, and Carson Leist were the only Wolves players to solve Paulsen's riddles for a hit. Meanwhile, Pribek led the Storm with two hits and three RBI while Diesel Bosdeck and Micah Vanness also posted a pair of hits in the Storm victory.

Highlighting Saturday's action is Kewaunee's non-conference game against Two Rivers at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The game will take place following the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers' game against the West Michigan Whitecaps, which play at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday.
