Kewaunee's Miller makes All-State team

Kewaunee's Hannah Miller received extra recognition from the Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association as she was named to the All-State team as an honorable mention.

The organization honored over three dozen of the fastest runners from last weekend's state cross-country meet in Wisconsin Rapids. Miller's time of 19:10 placed her among the fastest receiving honorable mention designation and placing her just one second behind four runners who received second-team honors.

Raiders calm Storm in playoffs on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm saw their season Friday night in Kiel as they lost to the Raiders 42-7 in their WIAA Division 5 Level 2 matchup.

The two teams played even in the first quarter as they battled for field position by trading punts.

The Raiders took control in the second quarter thanks to the legs of senior running back Bryce Gullixon. His first of three second-quarter touchdowns came from nine yards out to make it 7-0. Gullixon would find the end zone again from three yards out to end the half on a high note, but not before Cade Voelker followed up a long pass play with a back-shoulder touchdown toss to Harrison Zorn.

Already up 21-0 after halftime, the Raiders marched down the field before Gullixon scored his third touchdown from one yard out to make it 28-0. A determined Brett Paulsen was able to get the Storm on the scoreboard on the ensuing drive as he was able to score on the very next drive from 24 yards out to make it 28-7.

The momentum shift would disappear on the very next offensive play, with Gullixion sprinting past the Storm for a 60-yard score to stretch the lead back out by 28 points. The Raiders would send the game to a running clock with Gullixon's fifth score early in the fourth quarter. Gullixon would end his day breaking the program's all-time single-game rushing record.

The Storm ended their season 7-4 and said goodbye to eight seniors. The Raiders' season will hit the road next week to face Wrightstown after demolishing Southern Door in their Level 2 game 50-8.
