Storm boys track team heads to Stevens Point

A trip to Stevens Point is on the cards for the Kewaunee Storm boys Track and Field team Friday night, as they are set to compete in yet again another indoor invite. 

 

The last time the boys ran in a meet, they finished fourth at the Earl Hebert Invite at Manitowoc Lincoln. The team boasted several top-three performances to lead the way for the Storm, including event winners Jordan Lamack (high Jump) and Christopher Cullen (400m). Finishing just outside of the winner's circle was Maddix Mueller (Triple Jump) in second place. Mueller also captured a third-place finish in the high jump while the 3200m relay team featuring James Joski, Mitch Swagel, Paul Rosinsky, and Lamack and the 1600m relay team featuring Cullen, Swagel, Lamack, and Joski also took third. 

 

The Storm will be up against Adams-Friendship, Amherst, Antigo, Auburndale, Augusta, Bonduel, Coleman, Columbus Catholic, Gresham, Iola-Scandinavia, Laona-Wabeno, Lourdes Academy, Loyal, Manawan, Marathon, Neillsville, New London, North Fond du Lac, Northland Lutheran, Oconto Falls, Pacelli Catholic, Pittsville, Reedsville, Rosholt, Sevastopol, Spencer, Suring, Three Lakes, Tri-County, Westfield, Whitehall, Wild Rose, Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

 

The events are set to begin at 4:00 P.M. 

Miller does it all for Storm girls track

Hannah Miller ran and leaped her way to several top-five finishes for the Kewaunee Storm girls' track team at the Kjono Invite hosted by Manitowoc Lincoln.

 

Miller won the triple jump, took second in the long jump, and fourth in the 800m to lead the Storm. Jessica Barnica took third in the 55m hurdles and Fany Pecout took third in the 55m dash to also finish in the top five alongside the 4x400m relay.

Storm boys takes fourth place at Herbert Invite

The Kewaunee boys' track team scored the most points they have ever registered at the Earl Herbert Invite hosted by Manitowoc Lincoln High School on Thursday.

 

Their 63 points were good enough to take fourth place overall. The team boasted several top-three performances to lead the way for the Storm, including event winners Jordan Lamack (high Jump) and Christopher Cullen (400m). Finishing just outside of the winner's circle was Maddix Mueller (Triple Jump) in second place. Mueller also captured a third-place finish in the high jump while the 3200m relay team featuring James Joski, Mitch Swagel, Paul Rosinsky, and Lamack and the 1600m relay team featuring Cullen, Swagel, Lamack, and Joski also took third.

Storm head to Manitowoc for Indoor Invite

Kewaunee’s track and field team has had a blistering start to their season with their two indoor events completed, and will look to continue it at the Earl Hebert Invite Thursday night. 

 

Last Friday, Kewaunee competed at the Princeton/Green Lake Indoor Invite and found success.

 

On the boys' side, Christopher Cullen (400m), Maddix Mueller (high jump, triple jump), and the 4x800m relay all won their events. In addition, Cullen (800m), Maurits Chabre (3200m), Jordan Lamack (high jump, triple jump), DJ Echos (long jump),  and the 4x400m relay produced top-five performances. For the girls, Hannah Miller (long jump, triple jump, 1600m), Wren Kunesh (pole vault),  Fany Pecout (60m, 400m), and the 4x400m relay captured top-five finishes.

 

Kewaunee will take on Appleton East, Chilton, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Fond du Lac, Gibraltar, Kiel, Luxemburg-Casco, Manitowoc Lincoln, Manitowoc Lutheran, Mishicot, Ozaukee, Plymouth, Sheboygan Falls and Two Rivers. The events will begin at 4:00 P.M. 

Kewaunee cleans up at Princeton/Green Lake Track Invite

The Kewaunee track teams produced four event winners and several other top-five performances in Friday's Princeton/Green Lake Invitational hosted at Ripon College.

 

On the boys' side, Christopher Cullen (400m), Maddix Mueller (high jump, triple jump), and the 4x800m relay all won their events. In addition, Cullen (800m), Maurits Chabre (3200m), Jordan Lamack (high jump,  triple jump), DJ Echos (long jump),  and the 4x400m relay produced top-five performances.

 

For the girls, Hannah Miller (long jump, triple jump, 1600m), Wren Kunesh (pole vault),  Fany Pecout (60m, 400m), and the 4x400m relay captured top-five finishes.

Kewaunee track nearly tips D1 school for Wausau West title, heads to Ripon Friday

Kewaunee JV Storm Boys Track start the 2023 season with a great 2nd Place finish at the Wausau West 8 team Invite. 

 

The Storm fell to D1 Wausau West by the narrowest of margins 125.5 to Kewaunee's 125.

Also, a number of close just misses in scoring by a number of individuals led by Kemper Robinson in the Shot Put to start the season.

 

Special mention to Colton Pribek and Seth Chevalier competing in both the 55 and 200 Hurdles being just freshmen and with very little time in the event.

 

The Storm has a quick turnaround heading to Ripon for another indoor invite on Friday. They will face Living Word Lutheran, Valley Christian, Algoma, Cedar Grove-Belgium, Hustisford, Laconia, Markesan, Mayville, Palmyra-Eagle, Columbus, Tri-County, Weyauwega Fremont and Reedsville.

Kewaunee track field dig out for indoor season debut

The long wait is over for the Kewaunee track and field team as they head out for their first competition of the season.

 

Kewaunee is scheduled to travel to Wausau West to face the host school, Antigo, Cadott, Crandon, Gresham, Tigerton, and Wausau East with the first events beginning at 4 p.m. Both the boys and the girls' teams will compete at this meet.

Storm boys defeat Bonduel; travels to Crivitz for Regional Final

The Kewaunee Storm boys basketball team will be moving on to a regional title game tomorrow night after defeating the Bonduel Bears 62-43. 

 

Kewaunee was able to dominate the game throughout the whole night, as they have done so often throughout this season. The Storm improved their record to 17-6 after winning their first game of the WIAA playoffs after receiving a first round bye. Kewaunee will go on to take on the Crivitz Wolverines tomorrow night, who’s only loss on the season came against Packerland champion Southern Door. 

 

Crivitz is coming off of their first win in the WIAA playoffs as well after receiving a first round bye. The Wolverines defeated 7 seeded Coleman tonight 61-45. The Wolverines will get the home court advantage over the Storm, who will have to take the one hour and 19 minute drive for the chance at a regional title. 

 

The tip from Crivitz is set for 7:00 P.M. 

Kewaunee boys take on Bonduel in Regional Semis

The Kewaunee Storm boys basketball team will begin their WIAA Division 4 postseason tournament run taking on the Bonduel Bears Friday night after a first round bye Tuesday. 

 

Kewaunee will have a week's rest coming into their matchup against Bonduel Friday night after defeating the Sturgeon Bay Clippers 84-45 on February 24th. The Storm went 16-6 overall in the regular season with a 13-3 record in the Packerland, earning them a three seed in the playoffs. Thomas Stangel was a breakout star this season for Kewaunee, averaging just under 17 points per game. He was joined by Cal Ihlenfeldt and Payton Kohnle in double digit scoring this season, which led Kewaunee to 66.6 points per game. 

 

Bonduel enters this matchup against Kewaunee with a 19-6 overall record, and coming off of a first round blowout over the Crandon Cardinals 87-56. Noah Weier has been the leader this season for Bonduel, as he leads the Bears in scoring with 13.5, just above Freshman Ryan Westrich at 13.4. These two teams have not faced off this season before this game, but Bonduel is 3-0 against teams in the Packerland, with wins over Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay and Peshtigo. 

 

Tip from Kewaunee is set for 7:00 with the winner going to the Regional Final.
