Kewaunee's close playoff victory

In Kewaunee's playoff matchup with Southern Door, the Storm needed a big play to help them hold on to the game. They had a 31-28 in the final minutes of the game. Kewaunee got the big play they needed from Max Hanrahan who picked off a pass to clinch the game. Ryan Carmicheal threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns in the game as well.

A look back at Kewaunee's dominant girls basketball team

What a year it was for the Kewaunee girls basketball team. The Storm only lost twice all season long and went undefeated in the Packerland Conference. Sara Dax scored over 22 points per game and won Packerland Conference Player of the Year. She will be playing basketball at Michigan Tech next year. Mackenzie Tlachac scored about 15 points per game and was only a sophomore so she will try to lead the Storm to similar success in 2019-2020.

Kewaunee boys soccer looks to repeat playoff success of 2015

Kewaunee boys soccer has been very consistent the last few years, usually right in the middle of the pack in the Packerland Conference. In 2018 the Storm finished with a respectable 8-9-1 overall record and a 5-5 finish in the conference. The 2015 season, Kewaunee found some serious playoff success in winning a regional championship. That team was 10-4 overall finished third in the Packerland at 6-3. The Storm knocked off Gresham/Bowler and Gibraltar/Sevastopol in the playoffs before losing to powerhouse Sturgeon Bay in the sectionals.

Three Kewaunee athletes receive Packerland Outstanding Achievement Awards

Three Kewaunee athletes have performed admirably on the field and in the classroom. Dylan Steinhorst, Sara Dax and Kassidy Smidel were all awarded Outstanding Achievement Awards. To qualify to win one, you must be a three-sport athlete for their junior and senior season, earn at least seven athletic letters and maintain at least a 3.9 GPA.

 

Kewaunee football will open season at home

After last season's conference championship-winning season Kewaunee will open the 2019 campaign in front of their home fans. On August 23rd the Storm will host Kiel. Kewaunee did not lose in the regular season. Their playoff run finally came to an end to Stratford.

 

In 2010, the Storm's playoff run never ended and won the state championship. They defeated Brodhead/Juda in the state title game. The game started off with a 66 yard touchdown pass to Mike Lux on the first play from scrimmage. The final score was 41-21.

Waleca makes All-Packerland Conference First Team

The star of the Kewaunee soccer team deservedly made All-Packerland Conference First Team. Midfielder Brooke Walecka was named to the team over the weekend. McKenzie Baumann and Maddy Spranger were named Honorable Mentions.

Baumgartner finishes seventh in state in Pole Vault

Kewaunee's all-time best pole vaulter competed in the Division 2 State Championship meet in LaCrosse on Saturday.  Nick Baumgartner broke the school record in the pole vault earlier this season placed 7th in the state. He got a height of 13-6.

Hewitt and Baumgartner compete at state

Alex Hewett and Nick Baumgartner will try to make some noise in LaCrosse today at the State Track Meet. Hewett will be competing in the Triple Jump while Baumgartner in the Pole Vault. Both set school records in those events this year. Hewett broke the record held by Jordan Schmidt in the Triple Jump and Baumgartner broke the record of Spencer Schleis who had held it since 2008.
