Kewaunee girls set for clash against Oconto

Two of the top teams in Packerland girls' basketball are set to meet on Friday night when Kewaunee travels to Oconto.

Both teams are perfect in conference play so far, but they got there in different ways. The Blue Devils rely on their all-Packerland player Lianna Baxter, who leads the team in points, rebounds, and assists. She scored 15 points in their 79-21 win over Gibraltar earlier this week as the Blue Devils' defense allowed only four points in the second half. The Storm get relatively balanced scoring from Mykenzi Uhlers and Taylor Schleis. They beat NEW Lutheran in their last game 58-17.

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Kewaunee wrestling team gets back to work Tuesday night when they travel to Kiel for a dual meet.

The last time the Storm took the mat, Logan Steinhorst won the first tournament title of the year for Kewaunee on Friday night. A third-period pin of Two Rivers' Justin Klinkner clinched the Neenah title at 170 pounds for Steinhorst while Max Severin lost his championship bid in a 9-7 decision to Burlington's Austin Reeseman at 145 pounds. The Storm finished in sixth place with just under 85 points. They lost their last dual to Green Bay United 39-36 last week, though they won four of the six contested matches.

Kewaunee boys hit road to face New Holstein

The Kewaunee Storm boys' basketball team will take a dip into non-conference waters on Monday night when they travel to New Holstein.

New Holstein knows something about comebacks too as they eliminated their own seven-point deficit to beat Sheboygan Falls 54-49 for their first win of the season.
