Kewaunee boys battle with Peshtigo Tuesday

The Kewaunee Storm will look to take down a top Packerland Conference opponent as they welcome in the Peshtigo Bulldogs Tuesday night.

After a strong win against the surging Gibraltar Vikings, the Storm will look to take their momentum into the matchup against Peshtigo. Thomas Stangel has started to cement himself as the main scorer for the Storm, as he has averaged 20.2 Points per Game in his last four games, with a high of thirty in the game against Southern Door. With a great all-around team, Kewaunee will look to remain in the hunt for the Packerland title, hoping for an Eagle slip-up.

After dropping their game against Southern Door on Saturday, the Peshtigo Bulldogs have gone 3-2 in their last five games after not losing a game since the day after Thanksgiving. Kaine Fort was a victim of fouling out early in the second half, after a technical foul after picking up his fourth kept him on the bench for the final fifteen and a half minutes of the game. Peshtigo is very much still in position to win the Packerland, and could knock another contending team back with a win over Kewaunee.

Tipoff from Kewaunee is set for 7:30 P.M.

Storm girls face Blazers in home matchup

The Kewaunee Storm girls basketball team will face off against the Green Bay NEW Lutheran Blazers on Tuesday night.

Other than Monday's 60-39 loss at Menasha, It will be a week's rest for the Storm since they were last in game action against West De Pere in a 68-32 loss. Sitting at 4-12 overall and 4-5 in the Packerland conference, Kewaunee has won three of their last five Packerland matchups. The Storm were nearly doubled up in their first game against the Blazers, where Brianna Demmin led the way with eight points in a 42-24 loss. No statistics were shared from Monday's defeat at Menasha.

Ebony Sinclair has been the familiar name so far this season for the 9-8 overall and 5-5 in conference NEW Lutheran Blazers. With that record being good for fourth in the conference standings, the Blazers have won back to back conference games. Ingrid Beaumont has been another strong contributor to NEW’s success, averaging 11.3 points per game.

Tipoff from Kewaunee is set for 6:00 P.M.

Storm girls battle Blue Jays in road contest

The Kewaunee Storm girls' basketball team starts the week on the road with a game against the Menasha Blue Jays.

The Storm was battered by West De Pere in its last game almost a week ago against West De Pere. The Phantoms had three players reach double figures in a 68-32 victory to drop the Storm to 4-12 on the season.

It will not get any easier against the Blue Jays, who are 11-6 on the year. That includes a dominating 48-13 win in their last game. They are led by Mara Reider, who paces the Blue Jays with a double-double of 16.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg.

Tip-off is set for 7:15 p.m.

Kewaunee boys see Vikings come to town

The Kewaunee Storm will have a chance to take down another conference foe as they take on the surging Gibraltar Vikings Thursday night.

Kewaunee defeated Algoma on Tuesday night by a score of 68-52, and improved their conference record to 7-1. A win against the Vikings will pull the Storm even in record with the Packerland leading Southern Door Eagles at 8-1. Thomas Stangel has been impressive in recent stretches for the Storm, but it was Cal Ihlenfeldt and Payton Kohnle leading the scoring for Kewaunee against Algoma with 18 and 17 points respectively.

Gibraltar could be having a repeat performance of last season where they finished the second half of Packerland play with a 6-1 record in seven games. Jake Schar has picked up the shoes that Sam Lindenberg left and has filled them well, averaging 18.2 points per game. Complete performances are needed and have been received from the Vikings, and could set them up well come March.

Tip from Kewaunee is set for 7:30 P.M.

Storm girls host county rival Algoma

This game has been postponed due to Thursday's storm closing school.

Pending weather, the Kewaunee Storm girls basketball team will take on their county rival Algoma Wolves on Thursday night in a Packerland Conference matchup.

Kewaunee has been 2-1 in the past three conference games, upsetting Southern Door by two and rolling over Sturgeon Bay by 29. Kewaunee has gotten a big boost coming from Freshman Jadelynn Kroll, as she averages 16.5 points per game in her two games so far this season. The Storm got the best of the Wolves in both matchups last season, winning 61-31 and 60-13.

Sitting fourth in the Packerland currently, the Wolves are on pace to match or even better their production from last season.

Tip from Kewaunee is set for 7:30 P.M.

The Kewaunee Storm will host the Southern Door Eagles Tuesday night with a top spot in the Packerland conference at stake.

Jared Hawkey has become another vital piece to this Eagle team with his defensive and offensive rebounding ability to give Southern Door second and third chances on possessions.

The Storm will look to match up their stars with Southern Door as one of the potential best matchups of the season will take place in Kewaunee Tuesday night.

Kewaunee girls make up their game against Peshtigo Monday

After the weather denied them the first time, the Kewaunee girls' basketball team will head to Peshtigo on Monday for a Packerland Conference showdown.

The Storm lost seven straight games before their current two-game winning streak against Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay. In their game against the Clippers, Gabrielle Stangel scored 18 points, while Jadelynn Kroll and Brianna Demmin each scored 17 points for a 76-45 win.

The Bulldogs are looking up at both Sevastopol and Oconto in the Packerland standings after losing to the Blue Devils 57-47. Akira Smalls leads the team with 13 points, while Jaci Tonn and Brooklyn Phillips are both knocking on the door of 10 points per game.

The opening tip is 7:30 p.m.

Storm boys double up Pioneers

The Kewaunee Storm doubled up the Sevastopol Pioneers Friday night 80-40 in a Packerland conference matchup.

The win for the Storm will move them to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in the Packerland Conference standings, keeping their first place position. That will be tested as they welcome in the Southern Door Eagles for their next matchup on Tuesday night. The Storm won both matchups of that series last season.

For Sevastopol the loss drops them to 2-10 on the season, and still in search of that first Packerland conference win this season. The Pioneers will look to right the ship when they travel to Green Bay to take on the NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy Tuesday.

Kewaunee girls roll Sturgeon Bay Friday night

The Kewaunee Storm girls basketball team has made it two Packerland wins in a row as they defeated the Sturgeon Bay Clippers 74-45.

All three of the Storm’s wins in their 3-10 record have come in the Packerland conference, as they sit 6th at 3-4. The Storm will look to keep the tides rolling as they travel to Peshtigo on Monday, with a chance to make it three in a row.

Sturgeon Bay dropped to 2-11 overall and 0-8 in Packerland conference play with the 29 point loss to the Storm. The Clippers will need to get back on track soon as they welcome in non-conference opponent Roncalli on Monday.

Storm girls host Clippers for Packerland showdown

The Kewaunee Storm and Sturgeon Bay Clippers' girls' basketball teams will make up their Christmas blizzard game on Friday night with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

The Storm snuck past Southern Door on Tuesday 56-54. Brianna Demmin (7.8 pts),  Summer Walechka (6.1 pts), and Lexi Hanrahan (5.8 pts) are the team's leading scorers.

The Clippers lost their last game to Gibraltar 61-49. Dasha Yeltysheva and Cady Carlson would do most of the early scoring for the Clippers as they jumped out to a quick lead, but that lead was gone with the swarming defense of the Vikings. Autumn Rass end the game as the leading scorer with 12 points.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Luxemburg-Casco, Kewaunee, Southern Door battle in quadangular

Three of the area's four local wrestling programs will converge in Kewaunee on Thursday night for a quadrangular meet.

Kewaunee will host local foes Southern Door and Luxemburg-Casco along with Little Chute as a part of the meet that starts at 6 p.m.

All three local schools are coming off tournaments last weekend in seasons that have been short on dual meets thus far. The Spartans won the team title at the Duffy Invitational hosted by Port Washington with 254 points, more than 60 points ahead of second-place Baldwin-Woodville. Jake Jandrin (106), Michael Bostwick (112), Isaac Jerabek (126), Easton Worachek (138), Caleb Delebreau (145), and Trace Schoenebeck (182) all won their weight classes with nine others placing. The Southern Door wrestling team placed all six of its wrestlers at the 15-team Rocket Scramble at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School on Saturday. Hayden Jeanquart took first place at 170 pounds, pinning all four of his opponents. Four other wrestlers finished the day with just a single loss. The Storm wrestled at a triple-dual last week in Oconto Falls, but results were not shared.

Outside of tournament action, the JV wrestlers for Southern Door and Luxemburg-Casco battled against each other at Bay Port last month.

Kewaunee boys make way to Valders

The Vikings are 7-4 on the season and are winners of three of their last four games. They coasted during the second-half of their 81-60 win over New Holstein in their previous game last week.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, Pierce Arenz scored 17 points, and Braden Aprill added 14 points to lead the Raiders.

Storm girls face tall task vs. Sevastopol

The Kewaunee Storm girls' basketball team look to knock off the Packerland leaders on Friday night when Sevastopol comes to town.

The Storm is 1-9 coming into the matchup as the offense just has not been there this season, averaging just under 31 points per game. They found themselves in a 33-15 hole in their last game against New Holstein before eventually losing the contest 62-46. Brianna Demmin leads the team with eight points and six rebounds per game.

Naomi Rikkola scored a team-high 16 points, while her sister Bailey added 15 more to lead the Pioneers to a 59-34 victory over Oneida Nation earlier this week.  Kayla Ranly and Libby Ash chipped in 10 points apiece to help the cause.  The team saw their standing in the state improve as they are now rated the eighth-best team in the state, up from tenth last week.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Kewaunee Storm girls basketball hope to put 2022 behind them when they head to New Holstein on Tuesday.

The Huskies are 6-4 on the year but have lost their last three games. That includes a tale of two losses at the Oostburg Holiday Shootout, where they were blown out 75-27 by Waukesha West and nipped by University School 60-56.
