Storm softball holds off Algoma in twinbill

The Kewaunee Storm softball team won a pair of close battles Thursday against their shoreline rivals Algoma, winning 4-3 and 4-2.

In game one, the Wolves struck first with a Rylee Fenendael RBI single, but the Storm answered with a Taylor Schlies RBI double. The Storm would go on to score two more runs in the third thanks to a two-run single by Emily Todd. Despite losing, the Wolves hammered the Storm with 10 hits, including RBI by Ryley Zimmermann and Maisen Luedtke.

Game two was highlighted by a three-run second inning thanks to a pair of groundouts and an RBI single.

Kewaunee hosts shoreline diamond battles against Algoma

Kewaunee and Algoma will renew their rivalry on the diamonds in Kewaunee on Thursday afternoon when the baseball and softball teams clash.

In baseball, the Storm has lost to two North Eastern Conference opponents this season but won its game against Sevastopol in between them last week 10-0. The Wolves split a pair of games last week to Sturgeon Bay to get their season record up to 2-1.

In softball, a 4-1 loss to Sevastopol is the only result on the Storm's schedule. The Wolves' softball team swept their two games against Sturgeon Bay last week with 7-0 scores.

Games begin at 4:30 p.m.

Storm softball looks to bounce back against Reedsville

The Kewaunee softball team looks to get back into the win column against Reedsville Monday.

Libby Ash proved to be too much for the Storm as they lost to the first game to Sevastopol last week 4-1. It was their first game of the season and it was the first time the Pioneers were limited to less than 10 runs this season. Reedsville has split their first two games, including a 12-3 loss to Random Lake last week.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Kewaunee baseball looks to keep streaking against Omro

The Storm baseball team hopes to keep their offense rolling when Omro comes to Kewaunee for 4:30 p.m. tilt. The team has won its two games against NEW Lutheran and Sevastopol by a combined score of 22-2, including a 10-0 win their last time out against the Pioneers when Cal Ihlenfeldt threw a five-inning no-hitter. Omro is winless on the season (0-5), including a 9-1 loss to St. Mary's Springs last Tuesday.

Kewaunee baseball storms past Pioneers with big inning, no-hitter

Cal Ihlenfeldt did not need much support thanks to a six-run third inning as Kewaunee beat Sevastopol in baseball 10-0.

Ihlenfeldt did not give up a hit and struck out eight across five innings of work for the Storm, who also doubled in the game's first run in the opening frame. Sawyer Pribek and Mitchell Thompson drove in runs before Cain Hall dealt the game's biggest blow with a grand slam in the third inning. Pribek, Ihlenfeldt, and Caleb Schaller dealt the game's fatal blows in the fourth inning with RBI.

Jack de Young took the loss for the Pioneers, giving up seven earned runs on four hits through three innings of work.

Kewaunee baseball stay at home to face NEW Lutheran

The Kewaunee Storm baseball team will try to get on the field Tuesday when NEW Lutheran comes a calling on Tuesday.

The Storm have struggled to get on the field since their season opening loss to Denmark. No results have been posted since then despite three games being scheduled.

The Blazers won their first game against Laona/Wabeno 7-6 and haven't posted a decision since. They were tied 1-1 against Sturgeon Bay before weather called it off before it can be completed.

The game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Track boys capture 10 event wins

The Kewaunee track teams had impressive showings against Algoma, Gibraltar, and Sevastopol at a Packerland Quad meet hosted in Fish Creek on Tuesday.
