Storm top Vikings on the road on 105.1 The GOAT

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team traveled to Gibraltar to take on the Vikings in a Saturday conference matchup. 

 

The Vikings got out to a hot start taking a 5 point lead halfway through the first half. From there the Storm would turn the tides as they would use a full court press to generate turnovers from the Vikings and convert defense into offense to take a double digit lead into the half time break. In the second half Kewaunee was still firing on all cylinders offensively, shooting well from beyond the arc, and was using their physicality to make Gibraltar commit unforced turnovers and that would ultimately help them win the game by a final score of 62-41. 

 

Gibraltar has some time off before they take on Algoma on Thursday, and Kewaunee will face Valders in a non-conference game on Tuesday. 

Storm fall short against Phantoms

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team hosted West De Pere on Friday night in a non-conference game. 

 

The Storm were able to hold their own against a bigger squad in the Phantoms, but unfortunately were not able to overcome the challenge and lost 53-66. The loss marks the second consecutive for the Storm. 

 

Kewaunee will travel to N.E.W Lutheran on Tuesday to take on the Blazers as they return to conference play.

Storm travel to face Vikings on 105.1 The GOAT

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team will head north to take on the Gibraltar Vikings in a Packerland matchup on 105.1 The GOAT. 

 

Kewaunee is coming off of a loss against Brillion their last time out, and are looking to get back in the win column as their record is creeping closer to that .500 mark. Ben Heim and Cameron Cullen are leading the Storm averaging 21 and 14 points per game respectively. 

 

Gibraltar is coming off of a win over Two Rivers in their last game, and are hoping to win back-to-back games with a win over the Storm on Saturday in front of their home crowd. Sam Lindenberg is leading the Vikings averaging 21 points per game, followed by Will Friedenfels and Jake Schar who are each averaging 9 points per game. 

 

The game will be broadcast on 105.1 The GOAT and Newradiosports.com with Tanner DeGrave and Reece Robillard on the call with pregame starting at 2 p.m. followed by tip at 2:30 p.m. 

Storm fall to Lions in non-conference play

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team faced the Brillion Lions on Thursday night in non-conference action. 

 

Out of the gate Brillion’s offense was firing on all cylinders, and it propelled them to a 20 point victory over the Storm by a score of 60-40. 

 

The loss for Kewaunee moves their season record to 8-6, as they look forward to this weekend, where they will travel to Gibraltar to take on the Vikings on Saturday afternoon, with that game scheduled to be broadcast on 105.1 The GOAT.

Storm host Phantoms in non-conference play

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team is getting set to play West De Pere in their second straight non-conference game on Friday night. 

 

The Storm dropped their last matchup on Tuesday to Menasha by 3 points and are looking to pick up their first non-conference win in over a month. The Storm have two players averaging double figures with Mykenzi Uhlers and Taylor Schleis averaging 12 and 11 points per game respectively. 

 

The Phantoms come in with a record of 11-6 and are currently on a three game win streak. They are led by Katie Waukau who is averaging 11 points per game. 

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

Storm set to host undefeated Lions in non-conference play

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team is getting set to host the Brillion Lions on Thursday night in non-conference play. 

 

Kewaunee is coming off of an impressive 40 point victory over Algoma on Tuesday, and are looking to keep that kind of intensity going in a non-conference game against the Lions. The Storm currently have two players averaging double figures with Ben Heim averaging 21 points per game, and Cameron Cullen averaging 14 points per game. 

 

The Lions come in with a perfect 16-0 record with their latest win coming against Two Rivers by 42 points. Brillion is led by Jeremy Lorenz who is averaging 20 points per game, and Grady Geiger who is averaging 10 points per game. 

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

 

Blue Jays outlast Storm

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team hosted the Menasha Bluejays on Tuesday night in non-conference play. 

 

The game was a battle throughout but in the end the Blue Jays would walk away with the 3 point victory, winning by a final score of 64-61. The loss moves the Storm to 11-5 on the season. 

 

The Storm will have another non-conference game on Friday, as they get set to host West De Pere with tip set for 7:30 p.m.

 

Storm sweeps through Wolves

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team hosted Algoma on Tuesday night in Packerland conference play. 

 

This game was controlled by the Storm from the opening tip as Kewaunee would outscore the Wolves by 32 in the first half and take a 53-21 lead into the halftime break. The Storm would keep that momentum rolling and walk away with an 84-44 victory. 

 

Carter Zimmerman led Algoma with 21, while the Storm were led by Anthony Jerabek (18), Ben Heim (15), Sawyer Pribek (13), and Cal Ihlenfeldt (10). 

 

Kewaunee will next be in action on Thursday as they will host Brillion.

Storm set to host Menasha on Tuesday night

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team will host Menasha Tuesday night in a late season non conference game. 

 

The Storm are coming off of a huge 63 point victory last night, and are hoping to keep that momentum going as they have a couple non conference games coming up on their schedule. The Storm are 11-5 on the year, and are being led by Mykenzi Uhlers and Taylor Schleis who are averaging 12 and 11 points per game respectively. 

 

Menasha comes in with a record of 10-7 and are being led by Mara Rieder and Abbie Bates who are averaging 15 and 14 points per game respectively. 

 

Tip is set for 6:00 p.m.

Storm host Wolves in latest chapter of the "War on the Shore"

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team will host Algoma on Tuesday night in a Packerland conference matchup. 

 

It has been one whole week since the Wolves were last in action, as they beat Stockbridge 68-41 last Tuesday. Algoma will look to take that winning mindset into their next couple of games against conference opponents. The Wolves have 3 players averaging double figures on the season with Carter Zimmerman leading the way with 23 points per game, and Owen Robertson and Kaden Vardon averaging 11 and 10 points per game respectively. 

 

As for the Storm, they are coming off a hard earned 63-61 victory over Sturgeon Bay last Friday night, which marked their third consecutive victory. They are looking to keep that momentum rolling entering the remaining 11 games on the schedule. The Storm are led by Ben Heim who is averaging 21 points per game and Cameron Cullen who is averaging 15 points per game. 

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

Storm crush Vikings in Packerland play

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team hosted the Gibraltar Vikings in Packerland Conference action on Monday night. 

 

Kewaunee controlled things from the start and that would be the story for the entirety of the night as the Storm would walk away with 63 point victory by a score of 78-15. Kewaunee has now won back-to-back games and is looking to keep that momentum going heading into future matchups. 

 

Kewaunee will turn right around and host Menasha on Tuesday night.

Storm face Vikings in Packerland play

The Kewaunee girls' basketball team will host the Gibraltar Vikings, as the Vikings make their trip south on Monday to face the Storm in Packerland Conference play. 

 

The Storm is coming off of a win against Algoma in their last matchup, and are currently two games back of the first place and undefeated Oconto Blue Devils in the Packerland conference standings. Kewaunee came out of the gates hot, outscoring Algoma 41-5 in the first half before taking the game 60-13. The Storm was led by Taylor Schelis who posted 17 points and Alyssa Wesely added 13. 

 

The Vikings remain winless on the season after falling 67-41 to Wabeno-Laona Friday night. The Vikings could only muster 13 points in the first half but found themselves in a 20-point hole to start the second half against the Rebels. Andie Schar helped spark the offense in the second half, scoring 12 of her 14 points after the break.

 

The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Storm outlast Clippers in Packerland play

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team hosted Sturgeon Bay on Friday night in conference action. 

 

It was a battle throughout, but the Storm were able to come away with the two point victory and win the game by a score of 63-61. The win moved Kewaunee to 5-2 in the conference which is good enough to put them in third, and the Clippers moved to 3-5 which places them sixth. 

 

The Storm will look to win their 4th straight as they travel to take on Algoma on Tuesday night.

Storm host Clippers in Packerland play

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team will host Sturgeon Bay on Friday night in conference play. 

 

The Clippers are coming off of a big win against Gibraltar on Tuesday night, while Kewaunee also is coming off a hard fought victory against Southern Door. 

 

The Clippers come in with a conference record of 3-4 and are led by Isaak Aune who is averaging 13 points per game. 

 

The Storm are 4-2 in the conference and 2.5 games back of the top spot. They are led by Ben Heim who is averaging 21 points per game, and Cameron Cullen who is averaging 15 points per game.

Storm dominates Wolves on the road

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team traveled to Algoma to take on the Wolves in Packerland conference play on Thursday night. 

 

Kewaunee came out of the gates hot and never looked back, holding Algoma to single digit point totals in both halves. The Storm were led by Taylor Schelis who posted 17 points and Alyssa Wesely added 13. 

 

Algoma was led by Ryley Zimmerman and Emily Kirchman who each posted 5 points in the game.

Storm tries to dodge back to back losses vs. Algoma

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team will be traveling to Algoma to take on the Wolves in Packerland Conference play on Thursday night. 

 

Kewaunee is coming off of an 18 point loss to New Holstein their last time out, while Algoma is coming off a 48-27 win against Gibraltar. The Storm are 2nd place in the conference standings and Algoma is currently in 5th. 

 

Algoma is led by Ryler Zimmerman who is averaging 10 points per game, and Kewaunee is led by Mykenzi Uhlers and Taylor Schleis who are averaging 13 and 11 points respectively. 

 

Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. from Algoma High School.

Storm surges past Eagles on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm boys' basketball team did not show signs of rust from its virtual learning-caused pause to their season Tuesday night as they beat Southern Door 62-56.

 

The game was as snug as both teams' defenses in the first half. Ben Heim was kept in check for most of the first half, scoring the bulk of his 11 first-half points in the final minutes of the frame. Neither team was able to extend their lead by more than three points to break away from each other.

 

That changed in the second half when the Storm registered back-to-back three-pointers from Heim and Cameron Cullen off of turnovers deep in the Eagles' defensive zone to build an eight-point lead at the halfway point in the second half. The Eagles would cut that lead to three thanks Drew Daoust's 24 point night and timely offensive plays by Nic Pierre and Jared Hawkey, who each reached double figures in the contest. Heim would go on to score a game-high 28 points while Cullen chipped in 14 points of his own to lead the Storm to victory as they held off the Eagles' comeback.

 

The Storm will return home on Friday to face Sturgeon Bay.

 

 

Storm can't escape Huskies

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team couldn’t escape the New Holstein Huskies on Tuesday night in non conference play. 

 

Kewaunee was in action for the first time after a brief program break due to the school district opting to close due to illnesses going around including COVID-19. 

 

Kewaunee was unable to gain momentum against the Huskies and ended up losing the game by a score of 58-40. The loss was just the fourth one of the season for the Storm who have put themselves in a battle for the Packerland Conference title, as they only trail the undefeated Oconto Blue Devils by two games. 

 

The Storm will next be in action on Thursday as they travel to take on Algoma

 

Storm set to face Huskies in non conference play

The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team will host New Holstein in non conference action on Tuesday night. 

 

This will be the first game back for Kewuanee after the school announced that it would be shifting to virtual learning on January 13th, which meant no practice and causing their game against Menasha to be postponed. Prior to that, the Storm beat Southern Door 78-35 for their ninth win of the season. The Storm are led by Mykenzi Uhlers and Taylor Schleis who are averaging 13 and 10 points respectively. 

 

The Huskies come in with a record of 12-2 and were winners in their last two consecutive games. They are led by Grace Schisel who is averaging 25 points per game, and Payton Grenzer who is averaging 13 points per game.

Storm back in action vs. Eagles on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee boys’ basketball team will travel to Southern Door High School on Tuesday night to take on the Eagles in Packerland Conference play. 

 

This will be the first game back for Kewaunee after the school district announced that it was going to be moving to virtual learning on January 13th, meaning that there would be no more practice and that the Storm’s game against Sevastopol would be postponed as well. Their last time out, Kewaunee was able to beat Shiocton 77-54. The Storm are led by Ben Heim who is averaging 20 points per game, and Cameron Cullen who is averaging 15 points per game. 

 

As for the Eagles, they are coming in looking for their fifth straight win, and are being led by Drew Daoust who is averaging 17 points per game. 

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. from Southern Door High School and the game will be broadcast on 104.1 WRLU with Tim Kowols and Reece Robillard on the call.

Storm boys look to even record against Shiocton

The Kewaunee boys' basketball team is trying to even its record at 5-5 Tuesday night when it visits Shiocton.

 

The Storm could not close the gap quick enough on Saturday as it fell 64-60 to Peshtigo on Saturday. Ben Heim scored 21 points while Cameron Cullen chipped in 12 points in the loss. Shiocton exploded for 40 points in the second half of its 75-52 win over Bonduel last Friday.

 

Tip is set for 7:15 p.m.

Kewaunee girls look for bounce back against Eagles

After a shocking defeat on the road in its last game, the Kewaunee Storm girls' basketball team looks to get back on track against Southern Door Tuesday night.

 

The Storm had three players score in double figures, but could not hold onto its lead as it lost to Sevastopol 53-48 over the weekend. The Eagles used a 36-11 first half advantage to soar past Gibraltar last Friday 47-22 victory to make them winners in three of their last four games.

Storm wrestlers go 2-1 at quad meet

The Kewaunee Storm wrestling team made the most of its trip on Saturday, capturing wins in two of its three duals.

 

The Storm started out its day taking six of its 8 contested matches against Green Bay Preble as they went on to win 38-27. Clintonville only had a handful of wrestlers with them as the Storm won two of the three contested matches en route to a 48-3 victory. The Storm won only four of its nine contested matches as it lost to Oconto Falls 42-24. 

 

3-0 wrestlers on the day included Donovan Konop, Logan Steinhorst, and Matthew Boeder.

 

The Storm, which also beat Oconto last week, will wrestle Southern Door this Thursday.

Kewaunee travels to face undefeated Bulldogs

The Kewaunee Storm will travel to take on the Peshtigo Bulldogs who are undefeated in Packerland Conference play so far this season.

 

Kewaunee is coming off of a big conference win against the Oconto Blue Devils on Tuesday, winning that game by a score of 54-42. The Storm are going to look to their 3 top offensive scorers to keep the momentum going against Peshtigo. Ben Heim is leading the way averaging 18 points per game, Cameron Cullen is averaging 16 points per game, and Sawyer Pribek is averaging 10 points per game.

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. from Peshtigo High School.

Kewaunee wrestling visits Oconto

The Kewaunee wrestling team will take a break from tournament action to wrestle Oconto in a dual meet on Thursday.

 

Kewaunee was the top-performing local team at the Lourdes Academy On the Water Classic hosted at UW-Oshkosh. The Storm scored 117 points over the two days. Mitchell Thompson took second place, Max Severin finished in ninth, and Logan Steinhorst came in 10th. The trio are also ranked in the top 10 in the state according to WIWrestling.com with Thompson boasting the highest mark at number 3 at 195 pounds. 

 

The Blue Devils took 14th at the Shawano Holiday Classic last month. Tyler Beekman took seventh at 120 pounds to be the highest placing Blue Devil while Conner Christensen (285), Jaymison Markham (126), and Charlie Jordan (113) all took eighth.

 

First match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
