Storm surges past Eagles on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm boys' basketball team did not show signs of rust from its virtual learning-caused pause to their season Tuesday night as they beat Southern Door 62-56.

The game was as snug as both teams' defenses in the first half. Ben Heim was kept in check for most of the first half, scoring the bulk of his 11 first-half points in the final minutes of the frame. Neither team was able to extend their lead by more than three points to break away from each other.

That changed in the second half when the Storm registered back-to-back three-pointers from Heim and Cameron Cullen off of turnovers deep in the Eagles' defensive zone to build an eight-point lead at the halfway point in the second half. The Eagles would cut that lead to three thanks Drew Daoust's 24 point night and timely offensive plays by Nic Pierre and Jared Hawkey, who each reached double figures in the contest. Heim would go on to score a game-high 28 points while Cullen chipped in 14 points of his own to lead the Storm to victory as they held off the Eagles' comeback.

The Storm will return home on Friday to face Sturgeon Bay.
