Storm rally falls short at home

The Kewaunee softball team could not dig all the way out of a hole against Chilton as they lost Monday night 12-9 in nine innings.

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Storm was able to answer with three runs in the bottom of the third as they took advantage of five free passes to first bases, including two bases-loaded walks. The Tigers responded with four runs in the top of the fourth inning as they scored five of the next six runs. The Storm would come back to force extra innings with four runs in the sixth and matching the Tigers with one in the eighth. The Tigers took the lead for good in the ninth when they stole home and laced a two-run triple. Breanna Riha, despite going 3-4 with a double, took the loss from the circle, allowing five runs (5 ER) on six hits. Vivian Bootz, Mariah Schlies, and Kambreia Last all drove in two runs in the loss.
