The Gibraltar Vikings girls' basketball team picked up another conference win over the Sturgeon Bay Clippers, 60-44. 

The Vikings improved to 4-1 in the Packerland Conference standings and the Clippers fell to 0-2. Sturgeon Bay tallied the first points of the game but couldn't hold on after the Vikings put together a 27-20 scoring run together to end the first half. The second half saw a 33 point display by Gibraltar while the Clippers hit 24 points. Gibraltar will face Oconto on the first Tuesday in January and Sturgeon Bay will host the Sevastopol Pioneers the first Tuesday in January as well.  

The Gibraltar Vikings girls’ basketball team did not skip a beat on Monday evening as they won big over the Sturgeon Bay Clippers, 65-35. 

The Vikings improved to 4-1 in conference play as the Clippers collected their third conference loss of the season. The Clippers could not keep pace with the Vikings all game and struggled offensively to find the rim. Sturgeon Bay will play next on January 4th, 2021 against the Sevastopol Pioneers while the Vikings play Southern Door on December 29th, both games are slated for a 7pm start time.

The Gibraltar Vikings boys’ basketball team landed a big conference win over the Algoma Wolves on Saturday afternoon, 67-27.

The Vikings improved to 4-1 in the Packerland Conference and sit in the top half of the conference standings. Algoma has still not found their touch yet and remains winless in conference play. The Vikings threw up 39 points in the first half alone while Algoma did not eclipse that through two halves of play. Gibraltar’s Sam Lindenberg dropped 32 points on the Wolves while Luke Steebs gathered double-digit points as well. Algoma will visit Green Bay to take on the West Wildcats on Monday at 7pm. The Vikings will face the Sevastopol Pioneers on Tuesday evening for a 7:30pm tip-off.

The Gibraltar Vikings girls’ basketball team threw up a quality win over the Oconto Blue Devils on Friday night, 55-43. The Vikings improved to 3-1 in the Packerland Conference after this victory and saw another key performance from Sage Krause. Gibraltar pulled out to an early lead over the Blue Devils in the first half, 27-12. The Vikings found consistent play from their offensive unit on Friday night. Krause collected 17 points while Maggie Moroney tallied 15 points and was followed by Karlee Kita who scored 13 points. The Blue Devils were led by Lianna Baxter who outperformed everyone with 31 points total. Gibraltar will travel to Southern Door on December 29th for a 7:30pm tip-off.

The Gibraltar Vikings girls’ basketball team is looking to collect win number three in conference play on Friday night when they head to Oconto to face the Blue Devils. The Vikings come into this matchup with a 2-1 conference record and are playing competitive basketball being that all three of their games have been within 5 point finishes. Oconto finds themselves with three games of conference play under their belt as well but share the opposite record of Gibraltar at 1-2. The Vikings leading scorer in Sage Krause will look to lead her team to victory after the two squads clash in a yellow and blue festivus on Friday night at 7:30pm.

The Gibraltar Vikings boys’ basketball team notched a win over the NEW Lutheran Blazers on Thursday night, 64-55. The Vikings came into the matchup 1-1 on the season and improved to 2-1 after an impressive scoring performance. Gibraltar found themselves in a tight one after the first half concluded, 32-31 in their favor. Vikings head coach Justin Burress rallied his team for a nine point victory. The Vikings will visit the Algoma Wolves on Saturday for conference play at 7:30pm.

The Gibraltar Vikings boys’ basketball team is 1-1 and feeling solid about the start of Packerland Conference play entering their matchup against NEW Lutheran on Thursday evening. 

The Vikings sit in the middle of the pack in the conference standings while NEW Lutheran is feeling good coming off a non-conference win. Gibraltar’s Luke Steebs looks to continue his offensive input for the Vikings after a 17-point display last game and he has not forgotten the high note that his team finished on last season after winning two playoff games in 2019-2020. Vikings head coach Justin Burress will take his team to Green Bay for a 7:30pm tip-off.

The Gibraltar Vikings were able to erase small deficits all night long including in the final seconds of the game to beat Peshtigo Monday 69-68.

The Bulldogs held a slim 42-41 lead at the break, but the Vikings were able to take a 65-63 advantage with under a minute remaining to try and lock up the win. Instead, Adam Bauman engineered a steal at midcourt drove the rest of the way to tie the game at 65 with just seconds remaining. The Vikings returned the favor when they stole the ball shortly after the inbounds. The ball ended up in the hands of Sam Lindenberg, who hit the game-winning lay-up with approximately 20 seconds remaining. The win gave the Vikings their first victory of the season.

The team will travel to Green Bay Thursday night for a game against NEW Lutheran.

The Gibraltar Vikings boys’ basketball team will face the Peshtigo Bulldogs on Monday evening. The Vikings are coming off a season opening loss and will look for top scorer in Luke Steebs to carry his team to their first win. The Bulldogs enter this matchup 2-1 in conference play and have put up high scoring games all season. Gibraltar will open their second conference game at home and tip-off at 7:30pm.

The Gibraltar Vikings could not get enough shots to fall in its 62-51 loss to Kewaunee on Friday in Fish Creek.

The Vikings kept things close in the first half and entered the break down 31-27. The Storm was able to stretch things out a little bit in the second half and the Vikings could not break into the lead as they fouled players at the end to extend the game. The Vikings also struggled getting to the line compared to the Storm, shooting only nine free throws compared to 20 for the Storm. 

Luke Steebs led all Vikings with 17 points and Sam Lindenberg chipped in another 10 points. Spencer Krause sank two three-pointers to add another eight points. Alex Rohr led the Storm with 21 points in the victory.

The wait is over for the Gibraltar boys basketball team as they open Packerland Conference play against the Kewaunee Storm on Friday night.

The Vikings return many of their contributors from last year's team, losing Brandon Stillman, Conor Duffy, Dominic Krauel, and Paul Hartmann to graduation. The team does return its top two scorers in Luke Steebs (15.4 ppg) and Sam Lindenberg (10.8 ppg). Steebs also led the Vikings in rebounds and assists. The Vikings hope to improve on their conference record from last year which was 3-13.

The Storm comes into the game 1-0 after defeating its lakeshore rival Algoma 58-38 on Tuesday.

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. at Gibraltar.

The Gibraltar Vikings girls’ basketball team clinched a win over the Sturgeon Bay Clippers Thursday evening, 46-42. The Clippers started off the game on high note by outscoring the Vikings 29-17 in the first half. The peninsula battle saw a scrappy second half of play with the Vikings delivering a 29 point second half performance which would prevail for a Gibraltar win. Sage Krause keyed the comeback for the Vikings, scoring 15 of 18 points in the second half. The Vikings' Karlee Kita and Sophia Alexander teamed up to score another 18 points in the win. Sierra Arneman led the way for the Clippers with 11 points while Ashley Alberts chipped in another nine points. The Vikings improved to 2-1 in conference and will face NEW Lutheran next Tuesday while the Clippers fell to 0-2 and will face Peshtigo next Tuesday as well.

The Gibraltar Vikings girls' basketball team found themselves on the wrong side of a close game Monday night, falling to Peshtigo 44-42.

The seesaw battle saw the Vikings enter the second half with a slim 28-26. The Bulldogs were able to take the lead in the final moments of the game but left enough time for the Vikings to get one last shot off. Senior Karlee Kita had a great look at the buzzer for a game-winner well behind the arc, but saw the ball rim out to give the Vikings their first loss of the season.

The Vikings will have some time off before their next game on December 15th against NEW Lutheran. Their game against Kewaunee on Thursday has been postponed while a matchup scheduled against Crivitz on Saturday has been canceled. 

A little less drama with the same result is on the minds of Gibraltar fans before their first road trip of the season.

The Vikings won their first game of the season 44-43 after Sage Krause drilled a three-point shot at the top of the key for the victory over Algoma. She scored a game-high 17 points while Karlee Kita showed how her presence was missed by grabbing nine rebounds. 

Peshtigo comes into the game 1-1 on the season, winning its last time out 58-32 over Marinette. Sydney Lund enters the game averaging 14 points for the Bulldogs.

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Gibraltar Vikings boys’ basketball team have yet to play a game this season due to COVID-19 concerns but remain excited for the opportunity. Head coach Justin Burress has prepared his team for any and everything this season. 

The Vikings have been producing quality workouts individually and collectively.

The Vikings collected eight wins during the 2019-20 season and finished the season on a high note, winning two playoff games to make it in the regional final before losing to Wausakee.  Gibraltar is scheduled to face Kewaunee on Friday, December 11th.

Gibraltar's Sage Krause hit a three-pointer with just seconds remaining in the game to give the Vikings the 44-43 win over the visiting Algoma Wolves Tuesday night in Packerland girls' basketball action.

The see-saw affair saw the Vikings take a 25-21 lead into break, only to see the Wolves take a slim lead heading into the final moments of the game. After a Wolves' free throw miss, good ball movement led to finding Krause at the top of the key to hit the game-winner. The Wolves turned the ball over deep Gibraltar territory and had to foul them with just a few seconds on the clock to give them hope. Gibraltar missed the free throw but collected the rebound to secure the victory.

Krause led all scorers with 17 points while Sophia Alexander chipped in 12 in the winner. Hannah Wiese scored 16 in the loss.

The Vikings will play next on the road at Peshtigo on December 7th for a 7:30 p.m. tip. 

Gibraltar will host its first indoor events since February when its girls' team hosts Algoma on Tuesday night.

The Vikings lost two big pieces of their offense due to graduation in Nina and Abbi Sitte. They also lost Karlee Kita for the entire season as she continued to rehab her leg injury. Head coach Devin Thomas says having Kita back in the line-up is big for his team. 

The Vikings do return their two other top scorers in Sage Krause and Maggie Moroney, both of which did a lot of their work from behind for last year's regional final qualifier. They face an Algoma team that will lean on Hannah Wiese for its leadership as its top scorer, rebounder, and assist maker.

Tuesday's game begins at 7:30 p.m.
