The Gibraltar/Sevastopol and Algoma soccer teams will meet Monday in Fish Creek to kick off the second full week of the season. 

The United are coming off two consecutive losses, including a 4-0 decision on Friday to Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian. Connor Schmitz led the assault for the Eagles with two goals while Enrique Zamora added two assists as the United had a -16 shots on goal margin. 

The Wolves bounced back from an 8-3 loss in their opener to beat Peshtigo 5-0 in their last match.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Gibraltar Vikings scored a touchdown in all three phases of the game on Friday night as they cruised to a 48-22 win over Oneida Nation in Fish Creek.

Both teams traded scores through the air on their opening drives with Hobbs Emerson connecting with Jake Larson from 18 yards out and Osa Cornelius connecting with Delano Malone for a 28-yard score that was eight years in the making to make it 8-8 at the end of the first quarter. 

The Vikings dominated the second quarter thanks to the strong line play of Finn Bremer, Kaleb Hummel, and Xavier Gaddes. Larson scored two touchdowns on the ground, and Emerson bulldozed his way to another to hit halftime up 26-8. Emerson added an interception to help ward off a Thunderhawks drive midway through the second quarter.

The Vikings reached the end zone three more times in the second half, but only one of them was guided by Emerson. Milo Andrews started the scoring when he came up with a fumble recovery that he took 99 yards for a touchdown, while Landen Pelkey took a Thunderhawks punt to the house to expand the Vikings' lead to 40-8. The Thunderhawks traded scores to end the game with Cornelius rushing for one score and finding Malone again for the other, while Brady White took a handoff from Larson to the end zone to end the game on a high note.

The Vikings go back to work next week for their first road trip of the season when they play at Algoma on Thursday. Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT from Algoma beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the kickoff at 7 p.m.

The Gibraltar/Sevastopol soccer team will have to have short memories before they head to Sheboygan Christian on Friday after falling to local rival Sturgeon Bay on Thursday 2-1.

The United will now shift their attention to the Eagles, who are 2-0 with wins over Winnebago Lutheran (7-0) and Sheboygan Falls (5-1) on the record.

With the Wisconsin cross country squad lining the course to support all of the runners, the Gibraltar cross country teams opened their 2026 season on its home course on Thursday for the Chief K Invitational.

Graham Devoe continues to hold the top spot among the Vikings boys, coming in 13th place with a time of 18:46.  Olivia Pelkey was the lone girl for the Vikings, finishing in 36th with a time of 27:17.

The Gibraltar team will get a crack at the other half of the former United squad on Friday when they host Oneida Nation. 

The Vikings fell behind 30-0 and could only claw half of it back in a 30-16 loss to NEW Lutheran last Friday. The Vikings started the second half on the wrong foot when Hobbs Emerson threw an interception deep in Blazers territory. That set up a momentum shift in their favor when Wyatt Bultman sacked Schultz in the endzone to make it 30-2. On the ensuing drive, Emerson led the Vikings down the field before cashing in on a one yard touchdown carry to make it 30-10. After a short Bultman kick that was recovered by the Vikings, Emerson engineered another scoring drive, this time ending with Jake Larson's first touchdown of the season on a clever misdirection in the backfield. Long drives made possessions limited in the fourth quarter with neither team able to find the endzone. Emerson nearly snuck in to make it a one score game with just over 90 seconds remaining, but the Blazers' James Roeske made a tackle short of the pylon to prevent the Vikings comeback from continuing.

The Thunderhawks were supposed to open their first season back as an independent squad last Friday against Menominee Nation, but their school canceled their season before its start. They have not fielded a team since they went 1-8 in 2018. In that season, they forfeited their first two games (including one against Gibraltar) and failed to break double-figures in five other games. They were a part of co-op with NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy ever since.

More than a dozen teams will head to Fish Creek on Thursday to open the season with the Chief Kahquados Invitational.

Hosted by Gibraltar, Crivitz, Denmark, Luxemburg-Casco, Mauston, Oconto, Providence Academy, Reedsville, Roncalli, Sturgeon Bay, and Wrightstown will tackle the course that takes runners inside Peninsula State Park. 

Last year, Luxemburg-Casco swept the team titles with 26 points for the boys and 44 points for the girls. The Spartans boys scored all five of their runners in the top 10 including a second place finish for Ezra Treml, who finished with a time of 17:05. Claire DuChateau won the girls race for the Spartans with a time of 19:39.

Races begin at 1 p.m.

The GIbraltar volleyball team heads to Crivitz for a multi-team tournament on Tuesday.

The Vikings are coming off of a 5-24 season, which included a 13-match losing streak to end the year. They fell to Roncalli in their final match a year ago.

Florence, Goodman-Pembine, Green Bay Southwest, Marinette, Mercer, Niagara, and Peshtigo will also be making the trip to battle the Vikings and the host Wolverines with the first serves set for 9 a.m.

The Gibraltar/Sevastopol United soccer team opens play on Tuesday with a match in Fish Creek against Wrightstown.

The United went 12-7-3 last season, scoring 59 goals while allowing 37. Their season ended in the regional final round with 2-0 loss to Kiel after tipping Roncalli 3-2 in the semifinal. 

The Tigers went 5-10-3 with a -5 goal differential. They were eliminated from the postseason with a 2-1 loss to Algoma.

Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

It was the worst of halves, it was the best of halves that still left the Gibraltar Vikings on the losing end of a 30-16 decision to the NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy Blazers on Thursday.

The Blazers struck first in the opening the game when Hayden Schultz found Cashe Martin for a 41 yard touchdown pass to make it 6-0. The Vikings drove the length of the field, only to fumble in the red zone and see the Blazers turn it into another touchdown drive, this time concluding with a 37 yard touchdown pass from Schultz to Julian Trimberger to make it 14-0. It was a case of deja vu in the Vikings' second drive as they fumbled the ball again in the red zone only to see the Blazers turn it into another touchdown to make it 22-0 The Blazers capped off their scoring on a Andrew Kim four-yard touchdown catch following a blocked punt to make it 30-0 at the break.

The Gibraltar Vikings open their 2026 campaign at home Thursday night when they welcome NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy to Fish Creek.

The VIkings are coming off a 2-6 campaign a year ago with an outside chance of qualifying for the playoffs before dropping their final two games of the season. Wyatt Bultman is the only All-Across the Bay Conference player they have returning from last season's squad and the Vikings will have to replace all but 19 yards of its passing and all but 150 yards of its rushing. With a lot of new faces, head coach Mike Peck is relying on the kids that were on the team to shift into some new roles and grow as leaders.

The Blazers were 4-4 including a 43-26 win over the Vikings on September 12th, 2025. In that game, Hayden Schultz threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another three scores to guide the Blazers to victory. The Blazers will be playing without some of the players they had on last year's squad after Oneida Nation separated from the co-op to form their own team.
