Gibraltar's Reisen picks up a pair of event wins

Gibraltar's McKailey Reisen picked up the majority of the points in the team's appearance at Friday's Pam Kjono Invite in Manitowoc.

 

Reisen won the 55m dash in the 55m hurdles and the high jump to pace the Vikings. Hayden Knudson posted the only other top-10 performance with a personal record in the 200m relay.

Sitte leads the way for Gibraltar track

Gibraltar's Braden Sitte did not let a scratch in the long jump affect the rest of his day at the Hebert Invite in Manitowoc on Thursday.

 

Sitte took second in the high jump with a personal record and was part of a 4x200m relay that took third at the meet. Will Lecy was also on that relay as he posted a pair of top-five performances, including his fifth-place finish in the 200m dash. 

 

The girls will make their appearance in Manitowoc on Friday.

Vikings finishes third and fourth in Oconto Indoor Track Meet

The Gibraltar Vikings participated in the Oconto Falls Indoor Track meet at Oconto Falls High School on Tuesday afternoon to start the 2024 campaign.  The Gibraltar boys finished fourth with 27 points, while on the girls side, Gibraltar had 51 points while finishing third.   Individually, Gibraltar’s Braden Sitte tied for first in the 45 yard dash, second in the long jump, and took third in the 200 meters.  

In the girls meet, Gibrlatar’s McKailey Reisen won the 55 meter hurdles while Mikala Gorham took third in the high jump.  According to Coach Clayton Buske, Reisen’s 7.5 second 55 meter hurdles broke the previous facility record at Oconto Falls held by Liz Butler from Southern Door since 2008.

Oconto Falls swept the boys and girls meets with scores of 171 and 201, respectively.

Packerland schools scatter for track meets Tuesday

A few of the area's Packerland Conference teams are heading out of town Tuesday afternoon for track meets.

 

Algoma and Gibraltar will visit Oconto Falls to take on the host school, Suring, Lena, and Oconto, beginning at 4 p.m.

 

Algoma and Southern Door's girls' teams will head to the campus of UW-Oshkosh to battle the likes of Lake Country Lutheran, Valley Christian, Antigo, Little Chute, Horicon, Seymour, Assumption, Berlin, Brillion, Campbellsport, Chilton, Clintonville, Dodgeland, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Fox Valley Lutheran, Freedom, Gillett, Kiel, Laconia, Manawa, Lomira, Necedah, Omro, Pacelli, Randolph, Rosholt, St. Mary Catholic, Sheboygan Falls, Shiocton, Two Rivers, Wautoma, New London, Kettle Moraine Lutheran, Saint Mary Springs, Xavier, Pius XI, Weyauwega Fremont, Reedsville, Green Lake/Princeton, Kewaskum, Marinette, Denmark, and Wrightstown when they meet at UW-Oshkosh at 4:45 p.m.

 

Luxemburg-Casco will open their season on Thursday at Seymour as they compete against the host school, Bonduel, and Southern Door beginning at 4 p.m. with the field events.

Gibraltar takes small roster to track opener

Just a couple of male athletes made the long trip to UW-Oshkosh on Thursday for the opening track meet of the season.

 

Sean Neal posted the best times among his teammates in the 200m and 60m dashes, while Kayin Jackson led the way in the long jump and Isaac Nelson did the same in the shot put.
