Baseball: Vikings have tough day at plate in loss

Gibraltar couldn’t get much of anything going at the plate in their 2-1 loss against Peshtigo on Monday. Gibraltar won both matchups the last time they faced the Clippers, by scores of 6-1 and 7-2. Gibraltar is coming into Thursday’s games with an overall record of 7-5. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 5 PM.

Gibraltar to host Door County Classic

Four schools will battle for bragging rights on Monday afternoon as the Gibraltar track team hosts the Door County Classic on Monday.

In its last running of the meet in 2019, Sturgeon Bay swept the boys and girls titles. The Clippers girls scored 103 points, which was 24 more points than second-place Sevastopol. The Clippers boys edged Southern Door 92-89.5. This year, the Sevastopol girls track team has won all of its conference meets so far this season, Southern Door won a quad meet it hosted earlier this month, edging out Sturgeon Bay.

The first events begin at 4:30 p.m. at Gibraltar.

Baseball: Strong hitting day not enough for Vikings

Gibraltar and Green Bay Southwest combined for thirty-three hits and nine errors in their high-scoring affair on Saturday. Green Bay Southwest ultimately won the game, 14-10 while collecting eighteen hits. Gibraltar would hold a 2-1 lead after the first inning but the Blazers would score in the top half of the second to go up 5-2. Gibraltar got one run to start their climb back in the third inning but that was quickly answered with three runs in the top of the fourth by NEW Lutheran. The Vikings followed that up with a two run frame, and then got two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Going into the sixth inning, the score was 8-7 in favor of the Blazers.

New Lutheran took the wind out of Gibraltar’s sails with a six run inning in the top of the sixth. Facing a 14-7 deficit, Gibraltar grabbed three runs in their seventh inning comeback attempt, and would lose 14-10. The Vikings had fifteen hits and four errors. They will play on Monday in Peshtigo.

Baseball: Gibraltar looking to slow down Oconto

The Gibraltar-Washington Island Vikings will close out the school week trying to stop an Oconto team who is on a three-game winning streak. The two teams are neck and neck in the Packerland conference standings. Oconto has a 5-3 conference record compared to Gibraltar’s 4-3 Packerland record. Gibraltar recently hung on to beat Green Bay NEW Lutheran 4-3 on Tuesday. Gibraltar and Oconto’s Friday game will begin in Oconto at 5 PM.

Softball: Vikings narrowly sweep Clippers

In two straight games with Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday, Gibraltar was able to get the sweep, but both wins took work to get. In the first game, Gibraltar would win the conference game 8-7 and they would follow that up with a win by a 5-4 final. The conference loss keeps the Clippers winless in Packerland play and Gibraltar picked up their first Packerland victory. Gibraltar will try to carry that momentum against an undefeated Kewaunee team on Thursday. For the Clippers, they will pursue their first conference win on Thursday in Peshtigo.

Baseball: Gibraltar snaps losing streak with win in Sturgeon Bay

Gibraltar would get their first win in over ten days on Tuesday when they would beat Sturgeon Bay. In the first game, Gibraltar would allow just two Clippers hits on their way to a 6-1 win. In the non-conference game after, Gibraltar would take the 7-2 win. The win puts Gibraltar’s Packerland record 3-2. Sturgeon Bay will now have the same Packerland record. The Vikings will try to carry their momentum on Friday when they host Kewaunee. The Clippers will look to bounceback when they visit Peshtigo on Friday.

Softball: Vikings woes continue against Peshtigo

Gibraltar would be on the losing end of their sixth straight game on Saturday, when they fell 12-0 to Peshtigo. The loss drops the Vikings record overall to 1-7 this season. The Vikings will look to get on the winning track when they take on Sturgeon Bay on the road on Tuesday. It will be the first of two times the Clippers and Vikings meet up this season. The Packerland conference matchup will begin at 5:00 PM.

Baseball: Vikings go cold through week

After a hot season start, Gibraltar has yet to win again since April 30th. The Vikings would go toe to toe with Peshtigo on Saturday in all innings other than the third, which ended up the difference. After the first inning the score would be 1-1. In the third, Peshtigo would score four runs and Gibraltar would answer with two. The Vikings would match Peshtigo’s one score in both the fifth and seventh innings as well, but it would not be enough, as they would lose by a final score of 7-5. With the loss, Gibraltar’s overall record is 4-3-1.

Softball: Vikings shutout in Valders

The Gibraltar softball team was unable to generate the offense needed to win in Thursday’s defeat against Valders. The softball and baseball teams would lose to Valders by the same 7-0 score on Thursday. With the loss, Gibraltar softball is now on the losing end of their last five games, and will try and turn their momentum around on Saturday when they host Peshtigo. The Vikings are currently 1-6 overall this season.

Baseball: Vikings slow day at the plate verse Valders

Gibraltar fell behind early and was only able to get three hits in Thursday’s 7-0 loss against Valders. Gibraltar would give up a run in each of the first two innings, and then give up three in the fourth. In the fifth, Valders would get two more insurance runs. Gibraltar will get Friday off and on Saturday they will take on Peshtigo, trying to get their first win in over a week. Gibraltar is now 4-2-1 on the season.

Softball: Vikings to visit Valders

The Gibraltar softball team is searching for a momentum-shifting win on Thursday when they take a trip to Valders for a single game. Gibraltar is 1-5 on the season but have dropped both games in their last two doubleheaders. Their opponent, Valders, started the season 2-2. Thursday's game in Valders is scheduled for 4:30 PM.

Baseball: Vikings looking for quick turn around

Gibraltar will face an Eastern Wisconsin Conference opponent on Thursday when they visit Valders. Gibraltar is coming off of their first loss after a hot start to the season. They are 4-1-1 to this point. Valders struggled early on but won in their last game against Two Rivers, and are 1-3 this season. The teams do not have any familiar opponents this season. The game start time in Valders is scheduled for 4:30 PM.
