Gibraltar and Lena/St. Thomas combined for over 100 points and 900 yards, but the Vikings walked away with a 54-50 victory in Lena Friday night.

It was a tale of two quarters in the first half as the Titans outscored the Vikings 22-7 in the first quarter and even extended it to 30-7 in the opening moments of the second quarter a big reason why was Sam Marquardt who ran for two scores and threw another to Ethan Braley. Even when Braden Kita for Braden Sitte for a long 56-yard score for the Vikings, the Titans' Tyler Shallow answered the bell with a 48-yard scamper of his own. 

The Vikings would score the final four touchdowns of the half, sparked by a Kita touchdown pass to Sitte and a special teams miscue by the Titans. That miscue may go down as the play of the game as it turned the momentum in favor of the Vikings. Giuseppe Mercier followed the failed punt attempt with a touchdown on the ground from six yards out to make it a 30-20 game. 

Kita would cap off the half with a 45-yard touchdown run and a three-yard touchdown pass to Sitte in the final seconds to send the Vikings to a 33-30 halftime lead.

The Titans and the Vikings would exchange blows in the second half as the defenses played closer to what the rest of the conference has seen all season long. Mercier scored his second touchdown of the game for the Vikings on a 69-yard run. Marquardt was not going to go down quietly as he found a gap and scored on his own rushing play from 39 yards out. Marquardt would score two more times in the fourth quarter in between Kita-led touchdown drives for the Vikings. Kita opened the fourth quarter with a quarterback keeper for the score and capped off the game's scoring with a long 57-yard touchdown pass to Sitte.

Kita went 9-16 for 246 yards and four touchdowns for the Vikings while adding while rushing for another 104 yards and two scores. Marquardt was dynamic as well for the Titans, throwing one touchdown pass and running for another five while accumulating 288  total yards. Head coach Mike Peck said the player of the game might be the player that won't show up in the stat column. He credited Emmett Moroney's play at nose tackle for turning the tide of the game allowing the Vikings to make more plays in the running game while the team was down by multiple scores.

The Vikings return home for their homecoming matchup against Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran. The United lost to Algoma Friday night at Oneida Nation by a score of 42-24  margin. Gibraltar's cross country teams did not have to travel far for their race on Thursday, competing at Sevastopol's Pioneer Invite hosted at Cherry Hills Golf Course.

For the girls, Betsy Lecy posted the best time under the Vikings' banner, covering the 5K course in 22:26 for an 18th place finish.

Logan Mittermann was the only Gibraltar boy to race on Thursday, finishing in 18:17 to finish in eighth place.

The winner of Friday's game between the Gibraltar Vikings and the Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Titans will go a long way to determining the winner of the inaugural Peninsula Eight Player Football Conference.

The Vikings and the Titans are very similar as they are both are the top 2 in total offense and defense and they both boast quarterbacks leading the charge on the ground.

The Titans' Sam Marquardt has scored 12 touchdowns on the ground to go along with 645 rushing yards. He also has three passing touchdowns on the season as well Marquardt rushed for 229 yards rushing and four scores in the Titans' 52-24 romp over Algoma last week.

The Vikings counter with Brady Kita, who rushed for 157 yards and three scores last week in Gibraltar's 62-8 win over Gillett. Kita has proved to be a dual threat in recent weeks, pairing his 499 yards/eight touchdowns on the ground to his 640 yards/12 touchdowns through the air.

The winner will likely be in the driver's seat to win the Peninsula Conference barring major setbacks the final two weeks of the season. The two teams have outscored their conference by a score of 374-52.

The Gibraltar volleyball team will take its crack against a county rival when Sturgeon Bay comes to Fish Creek.

Coming into the match 5-12, the Vikings have played better this month as they have won four of their nine matches. They lost their rubber match against Algoma on Tuesday 3-2 after splitting their two matches against each other over the weekend.

The Clippers have been streaky this year as they look for their second three-match winning streak of the season. They beat Kewaunee on Tuesday 3-1 for their second straight victory.

The two teams will play each other beginning at 7 p.m.

Gibraltar scored early and often as they dominated the Gillett Tigers 62-8 Friday night. 

The Vikings got the scoring going right away as Braden Kita ripped off a 55 yard touchdown run that went all the way to the endzone for a quick 7-0 lead. Kita would find Will Friendenfels on back to back drives and before you know it it was 28-0 Gibraltar after the first quarter. 

This one would continue to be all Gibraltar though, as they would pile on 20 more in the second quarter, with 3 rushing touchdowns. Hayden Reetz would be pushed out of bounds after a 25 yard run, and he would finish it off from 1 yard out to make it 34-0 after a fake field goal pass was broken up. Braden Kita would break off two more huge runs, resulting in touchdowns of 53 and 49 yards each. The Vikings would go into the half on top of the Tigers 48-0. 

Gillett would respond on their opening drive of the 3rd quarter, with Quarterback Jesse DeBauch finding Tight End Brandon DeBauch for a 46 yard touchdown on their only touchdown of the night to make it 48-8. 

Giuseppe Mercier would find the endzone from 4 yards out before Braden Sitte would read Jesse DeBauch like a book and run a pick 6 back for 60 yards and put the finishing touches on a 62-8 blowout of the Gillett Tigers. 

The player of the game for the Gibraltar Vikings was once again Braden Kita, who threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns, but was also effective on the ground running for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns as well. 

Gibraltar will travel to Lena next week as they take on the undefeated Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Wildcats. 105.1 The GOAT and NewRadioSportsNetwork.com will have the coverage on that one from Lena. 

Even though they could not score as a team, Gibraltar's cross country runners did score some personal and season bests at Thursday's Bremser Invite in Mishicot.

Coming in 19th place overall in the boys' race, Logan Mittermann ran a personal record 18:37 on the 5K course.

For the girls, Betsy Lecy's personal record of 22:08 was good for 21st place. Gaby Gerard's time of 26:44 was good for 71st place overall and a new season-best.

The Gibraltar Vikings will look to remain perfect as they welcome in the Gillett Tigers. 

Last week the Vikings blew out the Wausaukee Rangers 50-12, which marked yet again another game where Gibraltar eclipsed the 40 point mark, their 4th of the year out of 4 games. With the offense, comes a stifling defense that has only allowed 20 points in Peninsula conference play this season. Brady Kita did the scoring against the Rangers, playing a role in every one of the 7 touchdowns scored on the night. 

The Tigers have cooled off after their Week one win against Wausaukee 52-50. Gillett has had troubles slowing down opposing offenses though, giving up 118 points in their 3 conference games. They will have to figure out that defense against the Vikings Friday night, as a high powered offense will match up against a struggling defense.

If the Gibraltar Vikings reached the end zone, you can bet Brady Kita played a role in it getting there as he led the team to a 50-12 win over Wausaukee Friday night in Fish Creek.

Kita was easily the player of the game, playing a role in all seven touchdowns and picking up and was responsible for 355 of the team's 433 yards.

He got the team on the scoreboard in the first quarter, scampering 56 yards to put the Vikings up 7-0. Kita nearly matched the effort on his next touchdown, a 55-yard run that had a little more twists and turns than his first score. He would find the end zone a different way to end the first quarter, this time throwing a perfect deep ball to Braden Sitte for 46-yard touchdown pass.

The Rangers were dealt a major blow in the second quarter losing their best offensive player Luke Smith to a shoulder injury. He had thrown for 52 yards and rushed for another seven before being forced from the game. Kita would lead the Vikings to a score three different ways in the second quarter, kicking thing off with an 11-yard rush to put the Vikings up 28-0. A flea flicker went Kita's way on their next drive as Sitte took the pitch from Giuseppe Mercier and threw it to Kita to make it 35-0. Kita had one more magic trick up his sleeve when he ended the quarter scrambling to his left and finding William Lecy sitting on his route. With help from a Sitte block, Lecy found the endzone to make it 43-0 after a busted field goal attempt turned into another Kita to Sitte connection.

The Vikings would open the third quarter and end their night scoring with another 55 yard rushing touchdown by Kita to make it 50-0. With the back-ups in on offense for the Vikings and a running clock, the Rangers turned two turnovers into touchdowns. Connor Schroeder spoiled the shutout for the Vikings' defense with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Shaw to make it 50-6. Prestin Brunette also had a pick-six of Giovanni Mercier to end the night.

The Vikings outgained the Rangers 433-109 and had a 15-5 edge in first downs.

NEW Radio Sports Network and 105.1 The GOAT will have the Vikings' next game as they stay home to face Gillett.

The Gibraltar Vikings return home to Fish Creek on Friday night to host Wausaukee.

The Vikings ran away from the Algoma Wolves last Saturday 42-8. Even with Rylan Caldecott's injury early in the game after his 23 yard touchdown, the Vikings rushed for over 200 yards and an additional three scores in the Vikings' first win against the Wolves since their 11-man football days. Head football coach Mike Peck says keeping their focus on their season's goals was a point of emphasis this week. 

The Rangers come into the game fresh off their first win of the season, a 26-20 victory of Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran. Luke Smith has provided balance to the Rangers' offense, throwing for 444 yards and rushing for another 400 on the year. After scoring 50 points in their week one loss to Gillett, they have scored a combined 48 points in the two weeks since.

The Gibraltar/Sevastopol Vikineers will try to break Sturgeon Bay's two-year conference winning streak when they hit the road Thursday night.

After losing two matches at The Prairie School Quad, the Clippers have gone 1-0-1, including a 3-1 conference win over NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy their last time out. Their non-conference match against Fox Valley Lutheran was canceled due to inclement weather. 

The Vikineers join the Clippers as the only teams in the Packerland with a perfect 3-0 conference record. They beat Kewaunee 2-1 in their last match and are currently enjoying a two-game winning streak after dropping three straight to end the month of August.

Bryan Mazur and Reece Robillard will have the call on 103.3 The Clipper beginning at 6:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening kick at 6:30 p.m.

The Gibraltar girls volleyball team will face off against the Storm of Kewaunee as both teams are looking for their first conference win. 

Gibraltar (1-9 Overall, 0-2 Packerland), got their first win at their opening tournament at Crivitz against Niagara, but have fallen short in every single match they have played since. The Vikings will look to get back on the right track against Kewaunee, who has also had a rough start to their season. 

The Storm (0-10 Overall, 0-1 Packerland), are still looking for their first win of the season, and potentially a trip up to Gibraltar could be where it could happen. Kewaunee will have to snap a stretch of 9 matches in a row getting 3-0 swept by teams. 

The match will begin at 7:00 P.M. up in Gibraltar. 

Logan Mittermann and Betsy Lecy were the top runners for the Gibraltar cross country teams at the Crusader Challenge Tuesday afternoon in Shebooygan.

Lecy finished in 22:32 to capture 17th place overall on the 5K course. Helen McCormack made the leaderboard in 89th place with a time of 27:08, while Anna Dalke completed the course in 31:07 for a 114th place.

Mittermann took 30th place with a time of 19:09.

The Gibraltar Cross Country team will head down to Sheboygan Area Lutheran for a cross country meet that multiple teams are scheduled to participate in. 

The boys team is only Logan Mitterman for the Vikings, as his best time of the year has been 18:55.8 at the Nightfall Classic. Mitterman has been a bright spot for the Vikings team that is only him. 

Gibraltar’s girl team is anchored by senior Betsy Lacy and Helen McCormack. Lacy ran an impressive 22:22.0 at the Chief K Invitational, as has had a good season ever since. 

The meet starts at 4:30 from Sheboygan. 

The Wolves may have had the win streak coming into Saturday’s matchup with Gibraltar, but it was the Vikings that left with the victory.  

Gibraltar took control early and never let go, giving up just a single score, which came in the second half.  Unfortunately for Algoma, it was sandwiched between two Viking touchdown drives as well.  Gibraltar has now outscored their opponents 132-14 this season.

Gibraltar, now 3-0, sits in a two-way tie atop the Peninsula conference and will head home to host Wausaukee Friday night.  Algoma will travel to Gillett which is the first Friday night game of the season for the Wolves.

Two undefeated squads in the newly formed Peninsula Conference will go head to head Saturday afternoon when Algoma plays host to Gibraltar.

The Wolves have opened up 2-0 on the young season, winning soundly against Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran and Wausaukee. Winning is nothing new for the Wolves, who have gone 16-3 since joining Eight-Player football. All three losses have come against eventual playoff teams, including the state-runner-up Newman Catholic in 2019. Head coach Wade Vandervest is thankful for the talented players he has had to coach during that their run in Eight-Player football to have that kind of success.

The Vikings also enter the game 2-0 after convincing wins against Sevastopol and Suring. They were a miscommunication on a blocked kick away from posting two shut-outs on the season. Winning the Peninsula Conference means beating an Algoma team that has not been done before and a challenge head coach Mike Peck knows his team is prepared for.

Both teams have twin threats that can hurt you in multiple ways in Algoma's Grant Vandervest and Kale Vardon and Gibraltar's Rylan Caldecott and Brady Kita. All four players lead their respective teams in multiple offensive categories.

Running under light trucks brought out the best in the Gibraltar cross country Friday night at the Nightfall Classic 920 in Neenah.

Four Vikings runners finished the evening with personal records.

In the boys' race, Logan Mitterman broke 19 minutes with a time of 18:55, which was good for 12th place overall.

For the girls, Betsy Lecy set the pace with a time of 22:36, earning her 19th place and helping the Vikings finish ninth overall. Helen McCormack, Abigail Demeuse, and Rose Stackhouse all set personal records.

The Gibraltar Vikings cross country team will have a unique experience on Friday night when they race at Winagamie Golf Course

Gibraltar will join a large field under the lights at Winagame Golf Course for an invitational hosted by Little Chute. Antigo, Mosinee, Seymour, Amherst, Cedar Grove-Belgium, Coleman, Freedom, Green Bay Preble, Kewaskum, Marathon, Northland Pines, Lourdes Academy, Peshtigo, Port Washington, St. Mary Catholic, Laona-Wabeno, Waupaca, Winnebago Lutheran Academy, Winneconne, Menominee (MI), Weyauwega-Fremont, Reedsville, Marinette, and Providence Academy (Green Bay) are also scheduled to race. The first race is supposed to start at 7:40 p.m.

The Gibraltar Vikings will travel to Green Bay to take on the NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy Blazers on Thursday night. 

Gibraltar was in a match against the Blue Devils of Oconto last week that was closer than the final scoreline would say. The Vikings put up 20 or more in each set and made the Blue Devils sweat for every set win that they got. Gibraltar is hoping to carry that success over to their matchup with the Blazers where they will look to get their first conference win in 2 seasons. 

The Blazers come into the matchup with a 1-0 conference record and a 7-3 overall record. NEW has had wins over some conference opponents in non-conference tournament play, over teams like Southern Door. They will be looking to go 2-0 on the very young season after winning in a 3-0 sweep over the Storm of Kewaunee. 

The match is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. in Green Bay. 

The Gibraltar/Sevastopol Vikineers will take on the Kewaunee Storm in a Packerland conference matchup on Thursday night. 

The Vikineers come into the game with a 2-0 conference record, and a 2-3 overall record. Gibraltar/Sevastopol is coming off of a 2-0 win over the Bulldogs of Peshtigo, and have been performing very well in Packerland conference play. With the Storm in sights on Thursday, the Vikineers will look to put together a good performance and get back to .500 on the season. 

The Kewaunee Storm are 0-4 on the season and 0-1 so far in the conference before the matchup against the Vikineers. Looking to get into the win column, the Storm have a chance to break a long losing streak and get to .500 as well, but in the conference standings. 

The match is set for 6:30 at Gibraltar. 

The Gibraltar Vikings volleyball team threatened but never prevailed as they were swept by Oconto at home Thursday night. 

The Blue Devils defeated the Vikings 25-21, 25-20, 25-21.

The shutout that proved elusive last week against Sevastopol was found Thursday night in Gibraltar's 48-0 win over Suring in Fish Creek.

After stopping the Eagles on their first drive, Giuseppe Mercier got the Vikings going with a 28-yard run that was capped off by a 10-yard scamper by Rylan Caldecott to make it 7-0. The Vikings found their stride in the second quarter, with Caldecott finding Braden Sitte to make it 13-0.

Brady Kita would take the offense's reins in the second half, connecting on a 13-yard pass to Giuseppe Mercier before ending the first half on a strong note when he found a streaking Sitte for a 77-yard touchdown to make it 25-0 at the half.

The Vikings would not let up in the second half, with Caldecott a part of four straight touchdowns. He ran for a score in the third and fourth quarters, found Kita for a 13-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, and caught a 30-yard pass from Kita in the fourth quarter.

On the other hand, the Vikings' defense bent but didn't break, allowing just one Eagles to drive into the red zone before eventually turning it away. The Eagles only gained 93 yards, compared to 351 for the Vikings. Rattin was the leading rusher for the Eagles, collecting 28 yards on 15 carries. 

The Vikings are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Algoma to face the Wolves. Kickoff is 1 p.m. with coverage on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 12:45 p.m.

The Gibraltar Vikings cross country team will take a trip down to Kiel for an invitational, the second of the very young season. 

The boys team sees Logan Mitterman as their lone runner on the year, as he ran a personal best 19:07.0 time at the Chief K Invitational which was good for 11th place. He will look to improve on that time at Kiel. 

The girls team has 4 runners, led by senior Betsy Lacy who ran a 22:22.0 at the Chief K Invitational which landed her in 7th place at the meet.

The Gibraltar Vikings look to make it two in a row to start the season on Thursday when Suring visits Fish Creek. 

The Vikings used a 21-point second quarter to jump ahead of Sevastopol en route to a 42-6 victory over their county rivals. The team effectively used two quarterbacks, Brady Kita and Rylan Caldecott, to lead the offense to a 360-yard night featuring six touchdowns. Kita threw for three scores while Caldecott ran for a pair and caught another. Head coach Mike Peck says he will let the quarterback situation settle itself. 

The Eagles struggled in their first game of the year, falling 35-0 to the reigning conference champions and playoff participant Lena-St. Thomas Aquinas 35-0. They posted only 75 yards of offense, all of which occurred on the ground. The two teams last faced each other in 2019, with the Vikings taking both matchups including an exciting playoff game that went down to the wire.

Gibraltar will open up their conference slate with a test, as the reigning conference champions Oconto roll into town Thursday night. 

Gibraltar saw themselves stumble into a tough season last year, ending up in last place and not winning a conference game. This year, they are looking to trend forward though, and hoping to improve on their 1-7 start in their tournaments to open the year. Starting off against the Blue Devils is a tall task, but could be a great look for Gibraltar to see where they are at the beginning of the year.

Oconto on the other hand, are the exact opposite of the Vikings. Oconto did not lose a conference game last season, and found themselves with an astounding record of 39-3 overall. The Blue Devils did challenge themselves in their tournaments this year, reportedly starting off with a 1-7 record. Do not let the record fool you though, Oconto will yet again be a force in the Packerland conference once again.

The Gibraltar/Sevastopol Vikineers face off with the Peshtigo Bulldogs in a conference matchup Thursday in Peshtigo. 

The Vikineers have a 1-3 record on the young season, but are 1-0 in conference after narrowly beating the Wolves of Algoma last week 1-0. The Vikineers went 0-3 in their most recent tournament over the weekend, and are looking to get back into the win column against the bulldogs this afternoon. 

Peshtigo is 1-1 on the year, with a win over Marinette, but a shutout loss to NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy 4-0. The Bulldogs finished 11-5-1 last season, good for a 3rd place finish in the conference last year. 

The match is set for 4:30 P.M. in Peshtigo.
