After a second-place finish in the Packerland Conference in soccer, the Vikineers all well-represented on the All-Conference teams. Midfielder Ben Fitzgerald and defenders Brady Ash and Cole Dvorak were named to the First Team. Forward Kiegan Sargent, midfielder Ty Johnson and goalkeeper Hayden Hoffman all earned Second Team honors. Forward Connor Thompson and midfielder Evan Lardinois were Honorable Mentions.

Agne Zukauskaite has helped lead Gibraltar to a regional championship in volleyball and has been rewarded with a spot on the All-Packerland Conference First Team. She made it in the all-around category. Bella Bunda and Abbi Sitte also made conference honors by earning spots on the Second Team with Bunda for front row and Sitte as a setter.

Gibraltar will travel to Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy on Thursday in the sectional semifinals.

Anthony Casanas was the top runner for Gibraltar at Division 3 Sectionals at Manitowoc Lutheran on Saturday. He finished in 26th for the boys with a time of 18.06.1. Gibraltar's boys did not have enough runners to get a team score.

The Viking girls had a team score of 377 and were led by Betsy Lecy with a time of 23.03.2.

The Gibraltar volleyball team went on the road and swept Hustisford on Saturday to win the regional championship. It was a small upset for the Vikings as they were the 3-seed and Hustisford the 2 plus playing on the road. The scores of the sets were 25-12, 26-16 and 25-19. Abbi Sitte had 25 assists and 7 kills. Bella Bunda led the Vikings with 15 kills and is now the school's all-time leader in kills at 548. Agne Zukauskaite added 10 kills and 34 digs.

Gibraltar will move on to take on number one seed Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence on Thursday at 7 PM in the Sectional Semifinals.

In Division 4, Gibraltar High School's volleyball team has rolled so far but the (2) Vikings must travel for Saturday's match to Hustisford. Gibraltar has won in straight sets the first two rounds. Given that the Vikings face almost exclusively Division 2 and Division 3 competition in the regular season, they are battle tested. That has proven advantageous in the Division 4 tournament in the early rounds.

The match gets underway at 7 PM.

Gibraltar captured its first playoff victory in school history Friday night in a 30-28 nailbiter against Suring on 105.1 The Viking.

After a scoreless first quarter,  the Vikings scored twice on a pair of Luke Steebs touchdown passes to his running backs, Brandon Stillman and Alex Laughlin. The Eagles' star running back Logan  Stuart showed why he was the conference's top rusher, scoring his first of four touchdowns to cut the lead to 16-8 at the break. After Steebs found Laughlin for a second touchdown from 64 yards,  a face-mask penalty ignited an Eagles comeback with two unanswered scores from Stuart. The Vikings would see a penalty swing the momentum back in their favor when Laughlin drew a pass interference penalty on fourth down to extend the drive. Laughlin would later take a pitch from Steebs and find Sam Lindenberg in the endzone to extend a lead to 30-20. The Eagles would strike back quickly thanks to long kickoff return by Dequez Sepulveda and Stuart's fourth touchdown of the game. With the ball inside the 10 with under a minute remaining, the Vikings were able to turn the Eagles away one final time with Connor Duffy getting a game-clinching sack.

The Vikings will be back in action next  Friday night on the road against Newman Catholic. 105,1 The Viking will have the call beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame show followed by kickoff at 7 p.m.

The Gibraltar Vikings volleyball team is still on track to win their second straight regional title after sweeping Valley Christian with three straight sets.

The Vikings won the regional semi-final at home by set scores of 25-21, 25-8, and 25-15. It was even effort across the board for the Vikings, which saw Abbi Sitte collect15 assists, Agne Zukauskaite and Bella Bunda register 10 kills each. while Sophia Alexander earned 15 digs.

The Vikings will hit the road for their regional final match against Hustisford, which also easily handled its semifinal opponent Sheboygan Christian in three sets. Match time is set for 7 p.m.

"One better" than last year has been preached since the first practice of the season, and the Gibraltar Vikings will look to do that as they open the 2019 WIAA Eight-Man Football Playoffs on 105.1 The Viking Friday night.

The Vikings will travel to Suring for their Level 1 tilt, a rematch of its 43-24 win over the Eagles during the third week of the season. Key to that win was being able to handle Logan Stuart better than almost any other team in the state, limiting him to 114 yards. Gibraltar head coach Mike Peck says even though the offense is evolved over the course of the season, controlling Stuart's impact is key.

Gibraltar High School's volleyball team made quick work of Oneida Nation in the first round of the WIAA Division 4 postseason tournament Tuesday night. The Vikings took it in straight sets, 25-11, 25-12, 25-8. Abbi Sitte was all over the court with 7 Aces, 10 kills, 26 assists and 26 digs. Agne Zukauskaite led the team in kills with 15 and added 17 digs. Bella Bunda contributed 12 kills.

In the second round Thursday, Gibraltar is set to host (6) Valley Christian from Oshkosh. They won in four sets Tuesday, 25-13, 13-25, 25-15, 25-19, over Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah. 

For the third time, their matchup was rained out on Monday. It will not be made up and Sturgeon Bay will have to wait until 2020 to get revenge on the Vikings. They handed the Clippers their first conference loss since 2016 in Fish Creek on October 14th. The final score was 1-0 in a match heard on 103.3 The Clipper and DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com. Sturgeon Bay and Gibraltar/Sevastopol finished first and second respectively in the Packerland Conference this season. The Vikings were 7-1-3 in the conference. 

Gibraltar/Sevastopol now looks ahead to the playoffs where they are a 13-seed and will travel to Kohler for a 7 PM kickoff on Thursday.

For the second time this season Gibraltar will make a trip to Suring. This time it will be a do-or-die game for both teams. Gibraltar earned a 3-seed in the 8-Man Football Tournament and they'll take on the 2-seeded Eagles on Friday. The Vikings defeated Suring on September 6th 43-24 and held their star running back Logan Stuart to only 112 yards on the ground. Stuart ended up with 2,252 rushing yards on the season. He averaged 267.5 yards per game in the other 8 contests for Suring. It was the Eagles' only loss of the year. The winner of the game will take on the winner of (#1) Newman Catholic and (#4) Marion/Tigerton.

The Gibraltar Vikings relied on its running game to capture its first football conference crown in 45 years Friday night, defeating the host Wausaukee Rangers 42-13.

The Vikings got off to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to rushing touchdowns from Luke Steebs and Alex Laughlin. After the Rangers' Hayden Reinkow found Brandon Shigouri for a 20-yard touchdown pass, Laughlin found the endzone again from 20 yards out on the ground to make it 22-6 at the break. Laughlin would get his third rushing touchdown of the game on a circus-like recovery of his own fumble for the only score in the third quarter. After the Vikings' Brandon Stillman punched in one touchdown from the one-yard line to open the fourth quarter, Reinkow would score one of his own from the same distance for the Rangers. Sam Lindenberg threw a touchdown pass to Spencer Krause to end the scoring for the evening with less than a minute remaining in the game.

The Vikings eclipsed the 300 yard mark rushing as a team for the second time in as many weeks, led by Laughin's 170 yards. The Vikings must now wait to see who, where and when they will play as the playoff field gets set on Saturday.

Both teams took sixth place with the boys faring just slightly better than the girls with 110 points compared to 139. Anthony Casanas took seventh overall with an 18:04 for the boys 5K while Betsy Lecy led the way for the girls with a 22:30.

The first conference crown in 45 years is on the line Friday night when the Gibraltar Vikings battle the Wausaukee Rangers on 105.1 The Viking.

The Vikings are tied with Suring for the MONLPC-EIght-Man Conference lead and need a win to keep pace after the Eagles blew out Three Lakes last night 70-24. The Rangers are almost like looking at a mirror offensively with Hayden Renikow trailing the Vikings' Luke Steebs for the passing yards lead and Brandon Shigouri behind Alex Laughlin for the receiving yards title. After losing their first six games, the Rangers have won two straight. This gives Gibraltar head coach Mike Peck more reason to make sure his team stays focused for Friday night and not look ahead to their playoff berth.

On and off the football field, Gibraltar’s Connor Duffy and Brandon Stillman lead by example. Both players start on offense and defense, anchoring their respective position groups. Along with fellow seniors Dominic Krauel and Paul Hartmann, the pair went undefeated in all of their contested homecoming matchups and finally got their first win against county rival Sevastopol last week. Speaking after last week’s game, Stillman says it is all about getting the win.

For Duffy, he takes great pride in seeing his brother, freshman Jack Duffy, rise up to the occasion.

The Culver’s Co-Student-Athletes of the Week are also partners in the classroom, winning first place in the district DECA meet earlier this year in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team event. The pair hope to lead the Gibraltar Vikings to at least a share of the MONLPC-Eight-Man Football Conference championship when they travel to Wausaukee Friday night.

Gibraltar’s boys cross country team does not always have enough runners to score points, but that is not stopping Anthony Casanas and the rest of his teammates from running hard. Teams need to have at least five runners on their team to compete for team places, which is one runner more than what the Vikings have been able to bring to the starting line on a consistent basis. Casanas, Nico Salm, Jack Hitzeman, and Emiliano Marvin all have been posting impressive and improved times all season long. Casanas has been one of the faster runners on the team, posting sub-19 minute 5K times four out of six races this year including a 17:59 last month at the Jim Bremser Invitational in Mishicot. The sophomore says he has big goals for the rest of the season.

Casanas and the rest of the Gibraltar Vikings cross country team will welcome the rest of the Packerland Conference to Fish Creek this afternoon for its championship races beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Gibraltar High School's volleyball team went on the road Tuesday to defeat Sevastopol in straight sets 25-20, 25-17, 25-22. It was the third win in conference play for Gibraltar. They finish up 3-5 with their next action being Saturday in the Conference Tournament hosted by Southern Door. The Eagles are the one seed going undefeated in Packerland play. 

Gibraltar remains a dangerous team going into the tournament even though they finished in the bottom half of the conference standings. Gibraltar has faced Southern Door twice this year and taken the Eagles to a deciding set in both matches. 

One night after Gibraltar/Sevastopol pulled off a giant upset against Sturgeon Bay, the Vikings beat the second best team in the Packerland Conference. Green Bay NEW Lutheran came into Fish Creek on Tuesday and left with a 3-1 loss. Gibraltar/Sevastopol is now alone in second place in the conference.

The Vikings will try to keep their hot streak going on the road on Thursday when they travel to Stockbridge for a 4 PM kickoff.

Gibraltar had to rely on its ground game to get past its county rival Sevastopol Friday night, winning 36-14 on 105.1 The Viking.

The cold, wet, and windy conditions kept the Vikings' air game grounded, but their only completion seemed to help the offense settle into the game. After a 31 yard completion to Alex Laughlin, Brandon Stillman was able to punch it in from 10 yards out to give the Vikings the early lead. Luke Steebs would add another touchdown at the end of the half to make it 16-0 at the break. 

The Pioneers and the Vikings traded scores in the third quarter with Spencer Evenson and Laughlin each scoring from inside the ten-yard line. After Triston Beauchamp made it a one-score game for the Pioneers, Laughlin and Steebs each scored touchdowns to put the game out of reach. The two teams combined for close to 600 yards of rushing compared to just 57 yards passing.

The Vikings continue their quest for a conference championship next Friday night at Wausaukee. 105.1 The Viking will make the trip with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by kickoff at 7 p.m.

The Gibraltar volleyball team could not quite become the first team to topple the conference-leading Southern Door Eagle, losing 3-2. 

It was a back and forth match with the set scores being 10-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-21, and finally 11-15. Leading the way for the Vikings was Abbi Sitte with 2 aces 10 kills, 22 assists, and 22 digs,  Bella Bunda adding 4 aces, 12 kills, and 10 digs, Agne Zukauskaite collecting 15 kills and 20 digs, and Sage Krause earning 32 digs.

The Gibraltar Vikings cross country team stayed ahead of the weather with its Thursday cross country meet in Brillion.

The girls finished in sixth in the seven-team field, led by freshman Betsy Lecy, who ran a 22:22 to lead the Vikings. The boys' team did not have enough runners Thursday to score points, but that did not stop sophomore Anthony Casanas from having a nice day on the 5K course, running an 18:08.

The Gibraltar Vikings hope to bounce back from its second loss of the season when it faces county rival Sevastopol on 105.1 The Viking. In a hard-fought game, the Vikings fell to the Algoma Wolves 46-22 last Friday night after winning the previous five straight. The Pioneers have rebounded from a slow start, winning their last three. It has been since 2015 since the Vikings have been able to defeat their county rival, including giving up 64 points its last two times out. Gibraltar head coach Mike Peck says it did not take long for his team to refocus after its defeat to the Wolves, especially its seniors.

FULL INTERVIEW WITH HEAD COACH MIKE PECK

The Gibraltar volleyball team held on to pick up a conference road win on Tuesday. Gibraltar lost the first set to Sturgeon Bay 26-24. The Vikings then came back to take the next two sets 25-19 and 25-23. Sturgeon Bay won the fourth 26-24. Gibraltar finally finished them off in the fifth set 15-10. 

Abbi Sitte had 34 assists and 10 kills. Agne Zukauskaite contributed 21 kills and 35 digs while Sage Krause also added 35 digs. Bella Bunda was second on the team with 19 kills.

The Vikings will host Southern Door on Thursday and the match begins at 7 PM. 

Gibraltar volleyball won the third game, but couldn't come all the way back in its 3-1 loss to Algoma Thursday night.

The scores for the match were 18-25, 18-25, 25-16, and 21-25. 

Stat leaders for the Vikings include Abbi Sitte with10 kills, 25 assists, and 31 digs, Bella Bunda with18 kills, Agne Zukauskaite adding 11 kills and 20 digs, and Sage Krause with 25 digs.

Three critical turnovers helped doom the Vikings in their eight-man football match-up against Algoma Friday night. 

The two teams traded turnovers at the game's outset, but it was the Wolves that capitalized first when Brett Benesh followed his interception of Luke Steebs's first interception with a touchdown run. Steebs' second interception proved to be even more costly when Carter Zimmerman took a tipped pass for six to make 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. After Zimmerman scored a touchdown on the offensive side of the ball, the Vikings' Alex Laughlin scored on a 65-yard kickoff return. Jordan Deringer capped the first half scoring with a touchdown from 50-plus yards out to make it 30-6 at the break. Zimmerman and Deringer would each score a touchdown to start off the third quarter before the Vikings scored a pair of touchdowns on a Steebs scramble and a pass to Brandon Stillman.

The Vikings forced a couple of fumbles for recoveries but couldn't turn them into points. Following the game, Gibraltar head coach Mike Peck said the Wolves' size up front caused problems for them on both sides of the ball as they struggled to stop the Wolves' potent run game and strong defensive line play. He also added that his team was ready to turn the page to next Friday night when they host county rival Sevastopol for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Gibraltar Vikings hope to spoil another homecoming game Friday night when they travel to Algoma to play the Wolves in a matchup between two of the best eight-man football teams in the state. Both teams come into the game with just one blemish on their record after the Vikings won their homecoming game last week against Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas 38-14. The Wolves were also successful, defeating Sturgeon Bay 52-10. The two teams have found success in different ways with the Vikings’ Luke Steebs and Alex Laughlin taking to the sky while the Wolves have used Carter Zimmerman and Brett Benesh to rule the ground. Gibraltar assistant coach Tom Sawyer is excited for the challenge.
