Gibraltar High School Archives for 2019-12

Gibraltar girls nipped by single point

The Gibraltar High School girls basketball team lost by a lone point Friday to Oconto, 58-57. The defeat pulls Gibraltar down to 3-3 overall. The Vikings attempted an extraordinary number of three-pointers, 42 in total. They connected at a less than 25 percent clip. All things considered, given the final score, some more high percentage shots may have been advised. Sage Krause had 24 points to lead Gibraltar supported by Maggie Moroney’s 19.

Gibraltar’s next game is January 3rd at Two Rivers.

Gibraltar boys give up 80 in loss

The Gibraltar High School boys basketball team did enough offensively to win Thursday night, nearly matching their season-high in points, but the defense proved to be a problem again. The Vikings lost to NEW Lutheran, 81-63 less than a week after giving up 79 points to Kewaunee. Gibraltar has also given up over 70 to Brillion and Chilton early on in the season. That is putting too much pressure on the offense and the Vikings have found themselves allowing furious rallies that they can’t halt.

The team does not return to the court until the New Year when they visit Oconto on January 3rd.

Gibraltar girls can't solve NEW Lutheran

The Gibraltar High School girls basketball team fell to NEW Lutheran 51-36 on Tuesday night. The Vikings are another team to add to the list who have yet to figure out the Blazer defense. NEW Lutheran is averaging less than 40 points against over its last four games.

Gibraltar has just one game left in 2019, Friday against Oconto which is a very winnable contest. The Vikings are in good shape to head into the new year at 4-2 overall.

Sitte dazzles in Gibraltar victory

The Gibraltar High School girls basketball team improved to 3-1 on the young season Friday night taming the Brillion Lions 66-60. It was the best offensive performance of the campaign for Gibraltar so far with Abbigael Sitte leading the way. She had 27 points, five rebounds, and seven steals before she was knocked out of the contest due to foul trouble. All of that production was accomplished in only 27 minutes on the court. Sage Krause added 13 points for the Vikings.

Gibraltar trailed at halftime before exploding for 43 second half points. Gibraltar hosts undefeated Kewaunee on Thursday night.

Gibraltar tips Algoma in conference opener

Luke Steebs and Brady Ash led the way for the Gibraltar Vikings in their 64-63 comeback win over Algoma Thursday.

The Wolves held a 36-29 lead at halftime, thanks in part to their three-point shooting. Jackson Schoening and Trevor Nell each knocked down three shots from deep to help the Wolves knock down 10-three pointers on the evening. The Vikings did their damage on the inside with Brady Ash leading the way with 18 points and Luke Steebs adding 13 in the win. The Wolves were led in scoring by Owen Robertsons 15 points and Kaden Vardon's 10.

The Wolves will play at home against Kewaunee on Tuesday and the Vikings will visit Brillion on Monday.
