Wolves fall short in hard-fought battle with Bears

The Algoma girls basketball team came up on the short end of another hard fought game on Monday night, this time a 36-30 decision to the Bonduel Bears. 

 

Trailing 26-16 at the break, Sadie Rikkola scored all 10 points of her points in the second half to try and help the Wolves reel in the Bears as they outscored their visitors 14-10 in the frame. Behind three first-half three pointers, Jadyn Nellis led all Wolves scorers with 11 points while two others scored at least three points. The Bears had no players reach double figures, but had four players score at least five points.

Wolves girls look to rebound vs. Bears

The Algoma Wolves hope a fresh week will yield different results on Monday when they welcome Bonduel to the Fulwiler Fieldhouse. 

 

The Wolves fell to Denmark in their season opener 52-22 last week. The Wolves were led by Therese Gerdmann and Jadyn Nellis. 

 

The Bears have split their two matchups on the season, throttling Sevastpol 71-11 before losing to St. Mary Catholic 48-37.

 

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Algoma girls fall to Denmark

The Algoma girls basketball team saw themselves down 29-8 at the break and never could dig themselves out in a 52-22 loss to Denmark Friday night. 

 

The Vikings were led by two players scoring in double figures while the Wolves were led by Therese Gerdmann and Jadyn Nellis. 

 

The Wolves will try again Minday when they face Bonduel.

 

Wolves travelling to face Vikings in season opener

The Algoma girls' basketball team is set to open its season this Friday on the road against Denmark.

 

This will be the first action for the Wolves, who went 15-10 last season, finishing 3rd in the conference with a 12-4 record. The Wolves graduated three seniors from last year's team, including two of the team's top four scorers. The team does welcome back Bristol Schmidt (9.5 ppg last year), Jadyn Nellis (8.8 ppg), and Claire Gerdmann (4.7 ppg) back to the squad.

 

Meanwhile, Denmark, the Wolves' first opponent, has already played their season opener, defeating Kewaunee 49-46. 

 

The tip-off is at 7:00 PM.
