Algoma baseball has rough go against North Fond du Lac

The Algoma  Wolves baseball could not get a hold of the North Fond du Lac Orioles's offense in a pair of losses on Saturday.

 

In game one, Algoma fell behind 5-0 early on its way to a 9-1 loss. Noah Lukes drove in the lone run for the Wolves. Grant Vandervest and Carson Lischka each had a hit.

 

In game  2, the Wolves jumped out to a three run lead only to see an 11 run inning by the Orioles put the game well out of reach in a 15-3 loss. Javen Charles gave up four runs in his three innings of work to lead the Wolves pitching staff.

Softball: Wolves try to awaken bats against Oconto

Algoma will attempt to revive their game at the plate when they face Oconto on Thursday. Algoma is coming off a loss to the Packerland’s top team, Kewaunee, in which they lost 10-0. In contrast, Oconto beat Sevastopol 13-3 in their last game on Monday. Oconto and Algoma met up on May 11th and Oconto downed the Wolves, 8-5. First pitch for Thursday’s showdown in Algoma is scheduled for 5:00 PM. 

 

Baseball: Wolves trying to knock off Oconto

Algoma will be on the hunt for their first win of the year when they play Oconto at home on Thursday. They will try to halt a strong second half of the season from Oconto. It is the second time this season the teams will square off, with the first game going to Oconto, 14-2. First pitch for the Thursday game is scheduled for 5:00 PM. 

 

Algoma softball visits Kewaunee

The Algoma softball team will try to take down the conference champion Kewaunee Storm in a Monday evening matchup.

 

The Wolves were able to hang on against Sevastopol in their 4-3 win on Saturday while the Storm clinched their Packerland crown with its own close win against Peshtigo last Friday 10-9. 

 

First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.

Algoma throwers lead the way at relays meet

No one hit the track but Algoma made their presence known in the field events at Tuesday's Packerland Conference Track Relays meet.

 

Bobbi Blahnik was the only event winner for the Wolves, capturing the top spot with Sydnee Guilette and Emily Kirchman also finishing in the top four.

Baseball: Algoma unable to cash in on late runs

In a battle of teams looking for their first victory of 2021, Algoma would score too little too late against Green Bay NEW Lutheran. Algoma would muster just two hits in the game, and score three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. 

 

NEW Lutheran scored the games first run in the top of the third inning and would pack in four more in the top of the fifth. For extra comfort they would score another in seventh, securing a 6-3 win. The Blazers would get their first win of the season and Algoma’s next chance will be next Friday against Sevastopol. 

Softball: Algoma looking to turn around against NEW Lutheran

Algoma will look to gain traction in the Packerland conference on Thursday after a 2-4 start in the Packerland Conference and 5-7 overall. They will host Green Bay NEW Lutheran, who is looking for their first victory of the season. This is the first time the teams will meet, and the second will be on the first of June. First pitch for Thursday’s game is scheduled for 5 PM in Algoma.

 

Wolves' Blahnik, Guilette go 1-2 in shot put

The Algoma girls' track team did their damage in the field events again on Tuesday when it hosted the quad meet.

 

Bobbi Blahnik won the shot put with Sydnee Guilette right behind in second place to help the Wolves score 36 points for a fourth place finish.

 

The Wolves boys came up empty in their events, scoring just three points as a team with an undermanned roster.

Softball: Algoma falls short of upset

The Algoma Wolves up and down start to their softball season start continued with a loss to Oconto on Tuesday. The Wolves fell 8-5 to Oconto, who has just one loss this season. With the loss, Algoma’s record is now 2-4 in Packerland play and are 5-7 overall. Algoma will look to build consistency on Thursday when they face a struggling NEW Lutheran team. 

 

Baseball: Algoma downed by Oconto

The Algoma Wolves are still trying to piece together their first win of the season after Tuesday’s 15-2 loss to Oconto. Algoma and NEW Lutheran are the two Packerland teams still looking for a win after Tuesday. The two teams will square off on Friday for a chance at their first win. Algoma is currently 0-6, and NEW Lutheran is 0-1. First pitch for Friday’s game is 5 PM.

Softball: Wolves looking to get to .500

The Algoma softball team will try to get their Packerland conference record to 3-3 on Tuesday when they take on Oconto. It will be the first of two times they play Oconto this regular season. Oconto is 3-1 in conference play this season. Algoma has been up and down on the season, beating Sturgeon Bay in their last outing. Tuesday’s game is scheduled to begin in Oconto at 5 PM.

 

Baseball: Wolves hunting for first win

Algoma will be in Oconto at 5:00 PM on Tuesday looking for their first victory of the season. The Wolves have lost their first handful of games, onto an 0-5 record to start the 2021 campaign. Oconto is 1-2 in conference, and just two spots above Algoma in the Packerland standings. This is the first of two meetings between the two teams this year.

 

Softball: Wolves cruise past Clippers

The Algoma softball team worked their way back to a .500 record after defeating Sturgeon Bay on Thursday, by a score of 17-7. The productive day at the plate for Algoma brought their record to 5-5. For Sturgeon Bay, the loss keeps them winless as they are now 0-5 on the season. Algoma will look to keep their momentum when they play Kewaunee on Saturday. For the Clippers, they will take the diamond against Green Bay NEW Lutheran on Monday. 

 

Softball: Wolves, Clippers scheduled for Packerland matchup

The Sturgeon Bay Clipper softball team will be going for their first victory of the season when they play host to Algoma on thursday. The Clippers have lost their first five games to begin the season. For Algoma, they will be looking to get above .500 in the doubleheader, as they come in with a 4-5 record. The games will begin in Sturgeon Bay at 4:30 PM. 

 

Algoma battles at Packerland Track meet

The Algoma track and field teams were able to get some strong performances at its Packerland Conference meet hosted by Southern Door on Tuesday.

 

The boys were only able to muster five points with Austin Miller collecting the bulk of those in pole vault.

 

The girls garnered 38 points with Morgan Mattson the sole event winner in the 100M dash.

Baseball: Wolves set for twin bill

The Wolves will be looking for their first win of the season when they face Peshtigo for a doubleheader on Tuesday. The first game will begin at 4:30 against the 1-1 Peshtigo team with an out-of-state win against Gladstone, MI. Algoma will try and snap their season-opening five game win streak.

Softball: Algoma hosting doubleheader

Algoma will look to get back above .500 with a doubleheader against Peshtigo. Algoma will be the home team with a 4-4 record, and coming off of a tournament where they went 1-2. Algoma's last game in the Saturday tournament was a 7-6 win over Coleman. Their opponent has been on fire so far in their season, as Peshtigo is 4-0, including a 10-0 win over Sevastopol. 

 

Tuesday’s game in Algoma is scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM. 

 

Baseball: Algoma lost their single game on Saturday at Roncali.

Algoma lost their single game on Saturday at Roncali. The final score was 20 to 5 in five innings. Algoma will continue to chase their first victory of the season, as they are now 0-4 on the season. Their next game is against Peshtigo at home on Tuesday. 

 

Softball: Algoma goes 1-2 in Pulaski tourney

The Algoma softball team captured a victory but suffered two losses on Saturday. Algoma dropped their first game to Neenah by an 8-1 score. They also dropped their next game to Oak Creek, 10-4. They got a win to end the night, beating Coleman, 7-6. Algoma is now 3-4 on the season. Their next game is on Tuesday when they host Peshtigo.

Algoma softball gets area sweep

Algoma softball had a good day against Gibraltar on Friday, grabbing wins in both games of their doubleheader. Algoma would win game one 15-0, and game two 8-4. Gibraltar falls to 1-3 on the season and will have their next game Tuesday when they visit Southern Door. For Algoma, they will take on Oak Creek on Saturday with a 3-2 record. The first pitch is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
