Things could not have gone better for the Algoma Wolves in their first season of eight-man football.

The Wolves steamrolled teams with a strong running game all season long with their lone blemish coming against the eventual state champion Newman Catholic. Unless the WIAA makes some changes, it is still unlikely Algoma would make the playoffs not because of a lack of talent, but because of its higher enrollment.

The Algoma High School boys’ basketball team ended their campaign with a loss at Cedar Grove-Belgium Tuesday night in the opening round of the postseason tournament. The Wolves fell, 86-47, and had only one scorer reach double figures. Carter Zimmerman’s 13 points were not enough to offset the scoring depth of Cedar Grove-Belgium.

Algoma wraps up their season at 2-21 overall. They failed to win a contest in conference play.
