Zimmerman's big day leads Wolves boys over Palmyra-Eagle

Carter Zimmerman nearly defeated Palmyra-Eagle himself as the Algoma Wolves boys' basketball team won 68-27 at home on Friday.

 

Zimmerman did most of his damage in the 1st half as the Wolves got out to a 40-14 halftime advantage. Kaden Vardon was the only other Wolves player to reach double figures in the game, scoring 12 points. Brady Koopman led Palmyra-Eagle with 10 points. 

Algoma boys host Palmyra-Eagle

The Algoma boys' basketball team will turn their attention from turkeys to a different bird when Palmyra-Eagle comes to town on Friday.

 

It is the season opener for the Wolves which only picked up a pair of wins over Sevastopol last season. Palmyra-Eagle opened their year with a 52-33 loss to Horicon on Tuesday.

 

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. in Algoma. 

Algoma girls fall to Two Rivers

The Algoma Wolves were defeated by the Two Rivers Purple Raiders 47-29 in non-conference girls basketball on Tuesday night.  Trailing 18-15 at halftime, the Wolves could not mount a comeback in the second half as Two Rivers cruised to the victory at Algoma High School.  Ryley Zimmerman led the Wolves with 10 points and Isabella McCosky added six more.  Two Rivers had three scorers in double-figures to come away with the victory.  

Algoma girls fall to Aswaubenon

The Algoma Wolves girls basketball team opened the 2021-22 campaign Tuesday night with a 36-27 non-conference loss to the Ashaubenon Jaguars.  The Wolves stayed close until halftime, trailing only 14-12, but the Jaguars pulled away in the second half outscoring Algoma 22-15 to get the win.  Algoma was led in scoring by Halee Panger with seven points and Nyia Marohl led Aswaubenon with 11 points. The Wolves will travel to Two Rivers next Tuesday in another non-conference game starting at 7:30 pm.  

Algoma girls basketball face Ashwaubenon at home

The Algoma Wolves girls basketball will have a little home cooking when they open their season Tuesday against Ashwaubenon. 

 

The Wolves struggled last season, capturing their only two wins against a winless Sturgeon Bay squad. They dropped their playoff opener to Manitowoc Lutheran 68-39 to end their 2020-2021 campaign. The Jaguars went 5-13 last season, ending their year with a seven-game losing streak and a 40-29 playoff loss to Luxemburg-Casco in the WIAA's opening round.

 

The opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
