The Green Bay Blizzard are prepping to host the Orlando Pirates this Saturday at the Resch Center. 

The Pirates are in third place in the Eastern Conference, going 3-1 through the first few weeks. The Pirates look to bounce back from a 68-40 loss to the Jacksonville Sharks. 

The Blizzard are sitting atop the Eastern Conference early into the season with a 4-1 record. Most recently, taking down the Iowa Barnstormers 55-19. Quarterback Liam Thompson went 9/14 on completions for 153 yards and 3 touchdowns. Thompson was feeding Demilon Brown all night, going for 65 rushing yards with 2 rushing touchdowns, also picking up 45 receiving yards and a touchdown. Leading the defensive side of the ball was Franky West Jr. with 9 tackles, and Giovanni Waller going for 5 tackles and 2 pass deflections. 

The kick-off is at 6:00 p.m.
 

The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team has announced the signing of 5’10” guard Elisa Melvins. She played in two games last year for the Oregon Ducks before suffering a season-ending injury, which allowed her to receive another year of NCAA eligibility. During those two games, she put up 25 points and 7 assists. 

She began her collegiate career with the Sienna Saints, and she was named the MAAC Freshman of the Year, as well as being named to the All-Freshman and All-League Third Team. During the season, she appeared in all 32 games, starting 31 of them, and averaged 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.

Her sophomore year was just as bright, being named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, while also receiving All-League First-Team honors, averaging 12.0 points and 6.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and her 4.5 steals per game, which were second-most in the country. Her 135 steals that season are a Siena program record.

Going into her junior year, is when Melvins transferred to Oregon. With the Ducks, she played in 28 games, starting in 19 of them, and averaged 6.6 points, 3.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game.
 

The Sturgeon Bay and Sevastopol track and field teams are hitting the road this Friday as they are heading to St. Norbert’s College for an invitational meet at the Schiender Stadium. 

The Clippers and Pioneers will be met there by Wausau West, Dominican, Fond du Lac, Amherst, Athens, Gillett, Green Bay East, Green Bay Southwest, Green Bay West, Lomira, Peshtigo, Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan South, Shiocton, Winneconne, Notre Dame Academy, New London, St. Mary's Springs Academy, Xavier, Iola-Scandinavia, Reedsville, Carney-Nadeau Public, St. Ignatius - Chesterton Academy, and Chesterton Academy of St. John Paul II Classical.

The Clippers last ran in the conference triangular held at Kewaunee. The boys' team placed first out of five teams, while the girls' team finished second. Leading the way for the boys was Alex Boden, who won both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles (18.512 and 47.031), and Cedar Tomberlin, who won both the triple jump and long jump (39-5 1/2 and 21-1, PR). For the girls, it was Delaney Skiba who won the 3,200 with a PR of 12:24.034 and placed second in the 1,600 with a season-best 5:51.631, and Leah Hansen placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a PR of 19.031 and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a PR of 1:00.731.

The Pioneers are coming off an Algoma triangular, which saw them winning nine events. Aaron Tomaszewski swept the distance events with wins in the 800m and 1600m runs, while Zack Genske (shot put) and Cash Kuehn (high jump and triple jump) gave the Pioneers wins in the field events. For the girls, Breiah Newton matched Tomaszewski's success with wins in the 800m and 1600m runs, while Braelyn Staats also posted wins in two events, capturing the top spot in the triple jump and as a part of the 4x200m relay with Khloe Henrickson, Autumn Sargent, and Lillian Saltou.

The meet begins at 3:00 p.m.
 

The area golf teams are heading to Marinette this Thursday for a conference meet held at Little River Country Club. 

The schools to be in attendance are Gibraltar, Kewaunee, Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy Co-op, Oconto, Sevastopol, Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay, and Peshtigo. 

The last Packerland conference meet was held at Northbrook Golf Course in Luxemburg, which saw the Clippers win the meet with a score of 189. Only two strokes better than second-place Sevastopol. 

Kewaunee’s Evan MacCaux was the top golfer, shooting a 42. Followed by Ashton Benzinger (Sturgeon Bay) and Henry Wehrenberg (Gibraltar), both shooting a 44. Marek O’Dean (Sevastopol), Jameson Tepe (Gibraltar), Aiden Benzinger (Sturgeon Bay), and Caleb Nieslen (Sturgeon Bay) all shot a 45.

The tee time is for 4:00 p.m.
 

The Green Bay Packers tidied up their roster ahead of the NFL Draft taking place later this week in Pittsburgh.

On Friday, the Packers released TE McCallan Castles, CB Tyron Herring and LB Jamon Johnson.

According to Packers.com, all three players spent time on Green Bay's practice squad last season. Johnson received a little more action as a gameday elevation, appearing in two games for the Packers (Weeks 13 and 18), including his first career start in Week 18 at Minnesota.

The Peoria Chiefs scored four runs in the top of the second inning on Sunday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field.  The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the second but could only score one run and the offense never got on track after that while Peoria kept added to their lead on the way to an 11-1 victory on another cool Sunday afternoon in Northeast Wisconsin.

The Chiefs (5-9) needed one hit to score their four runs in the top of the second inning.  Wisconsin starting pitcher Yorman Galindez put two runners on base to start the inning on a walk and a hit batsman.  Won-Bin Cho followed with a three-run home run.

Miguel Villarroel drew a one-out walk and moved from first to third on a wild pitch.  He would just beat a throw home after a grounder to second off the bat of Tai Peete against Wisconsin’s drawn-in infield to score the fourth run of the frame.

The Timber Rattlers (8-5) had the bases loaded with one out after Peoria starter Nate Dohm walked three of the first four batters he faced in the bottom of the second.  A wild pitch let a run score, and another walk reloaded the bases.  Dohm escape the jam with a strikeout and a flyout to right.

Peoria tacked on single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to push their lead to 7-1.  Villarroel drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the third, Cade McGee knocked in a run with a two-out single in the fourth, and Rainiel Rodriguez delivered a two-out, RBI single in the fifth.

Rodriguez padded Peoria’s lead in the top of the seventh with a two-run double.

The Chiefs scored two more runs in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly by José Suárez and an RBI double by Tai Peete.

Wisconsin only had two decent chances to score after the second inning.  In the third, Daniel Dickinson single to left with two on and two out, but Josh Adamczewski was thrown out at the plate on a strong throw from José Suárez.  In the eighth, Andrew Fischer hit a lead-off double, but he would be stranded at third when the inning ended.

Yhoiker Fajardo earned the win with five scoreless innings out of the Peoria bullpen.  He retired ten Rattlers in a row at one point in the game.

Luis Peña moved his hitting streak to nine games for the Timber Rattlers with a first inning single.  Eric Bitonti extended his on-base streak to twelve games with a single in the third.

Five Timber Rattlers pitchers combined to allow twelve hits and eleven walks in the game.

The Rattlers won the series with three wins out of the five games.

The Timber Rattlers are off on Monday.  They return to action on Tuesday with the first game of a six-game series against the Fort Wayne TinCaps at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Game time is 5:35pm CDT.

The Green Bay Blizzard suited up as the Frozen Phoenix Saturday afternoon, donning an alter ego in collaboration with UW-Green Bay for the university's first ever football game. The Iowa Barnstormers came to town looking to avoid an 0-4 start, but it wasn't their night as Green Bay bounced back from last week's loss and piled it on, 55-19.

Green Bay got on the board first with a Demilon Brown two-yard rushing touchdown, but Iowa answered to make it 7-6 after one. 

The second quarter is where it got out of hand. The Frozen Phoenix reeled off three straight scores, including a 25-yard Thompson to Isaac Ross strike, and took a 28-6 lead into the half. Iowa's offense had no answers, going 3-and-out twice and missing a pair of field goals.

The second half was more of the same. Thompson hit Brown for 45 yards and a score to open the third, and Green Bay kept the foot on the gas from there. Tevaughn Grant capped the scoring with a strip sack of Corbin, with Allen Henry recovering it for a defensive touchdown. Iowa added a couple late scores to make it look a little closer, but the final was 55-19.

Thompson finished 9-of-14 for 153 yards and three touchdowns. Brown led the ground game with 65 yards and two scores on the day. Trevon Alexander added two rushing touchdowns of his own.

The Blizzard improve to 4-1 and are back home next Friday, April 24th against the Orlando Pirates at 6pm inside the Resch Center.

Saturday afternoon was a windy and frigid day for baseball at Neuroscience Group Field.  The conditions didn’t bother Wisconsin Timber Rattlers outfielder Josh Adamczewski.  The Indiana native homered twice, drove in five runs, and had a part in both the tying and winning run scoring in the bottom of the ninth for Wisconsin’s 8-7 victory over the Peoria Chiefs.

The game time temperature was 39 with a strong breeze of 16-mph blowing from left to right.  Adamczewski warmed up the crowd when he put the Timber Rattlers (8-4) up 1-0 with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the second.

An error on Peoria allowed Luis Peña to reach base with two outs in the third.  Blake Aita, the Chiefs starting pitcher, walked Andrew Fischer and Marco Dinges to load the bases for Adamczewski.  Aita walked Adamczewski on a 3-2 pitch to force in a run for a 2-0 lead.

The Chiefs (4-9) got their first two runners on against Wisconsin starting pitcher Bryce Meccage in the top of the fourth on a walk and a bloop single.  Meccage retired the next two batters and got a grounder to short for what should have been the final out of the frame.  However, first baseman Juan Baez dropped the throw to let the inning continue and the inning would go on without Meccage as Jesus Flores was called into the game from the Wisconsin bullpen.

Flores walked Ian Petrutz on four pitches to force in a run.  Tai Peete was next and he sent a grounder to second.  Flores had to cover the base when Baez ranged to far from the bag, but Flores also dropped a throw to first to allow the tying run to score.

Peña put the Rattlers back into the lead with a lead-off home run to right in the bottom of the fifth.  That homer was the first of the season for the Milwaukee Brewers #2 prospect.

Peoria evened the score in the top of the sixth on a two-out, RBI single by Rainiel Rodriguez against reliever Wande Torres.

Josiah Ragsdale opened the Wisconsin half of the sixth inning with a single.  He would steal second and move to third on a grounder to second by Luis Castillo.  Baez drove in Ragsdale with a groundout for a 4-3 lead.

Adamczewski gave the Rattlers two insurance runs when he crushed a two-run home run to right-center with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Chiefs charged back in the top of the eighth inning.  Torres had allowed one run in three innings of relief before going back out for the eighth.  He hit the first batter and walked the next batter to end his day.

Chandler Welch was called in from the Wisconsin bullpen, and he hit Rodriguez on a 2-2 pitch to load the bases.

Jesús Báez was next for the Chiefs.  Welch got him to hit a high popup that looked like an easy play on the infield.  The wind took the ball and blew it into shallow right-center out of the reach of all the Wisconsin defenders for an RBI single. 

Welch committed a balk to let in another run.  Then, Back-to-back sacrifice flies from Jalin Flores and Josh Kross plated two more runs and the Chiefs suddenly had a 7-6 lead.

Wisconsin drew a pair of two-out walks in the bottom of the eighth but did not score.  Welch went back out in the top of the ninth and retired the Chiefs in order to keep the deficit at a run.

The wind evened out its contributions to the game in the bottom of the ninth when Andrew Fischer’s high popup to shallow right dropped in for a lead-off double.  Marco Dinges moved Fischer to third with the tying run on a deep fly to the outfield.

That brought Adamczewski back to the plate for Wisconsin.  He smashed a single to the backhand of Cade McGee at second base to drive home Fischer.  McGee got a piece of the ball with his glove to deflect it towards second base.  He tracked down the ball and fired wildly to first base.  That error allowed Adamczewski to take second with the winning run.

Daniel Dickinson dropped a bunt single to put runners on the corners for Ragsdale against Jack Findlay. 

Ragsdale never had a chance to swing the bat as Findlay threw a wild pitch to allow Adamczewski to score.

Fischer went 3-for-3 with two walks, two doubles, and two runs scored.  Peña extended his current hitting streak to eight games with his home run.  On the pitching side of the ledger, Meccage and Torres each recorded five strikeouts.

Adamczewski has four home runs in the series.  He hit a home run in both ends of Wednesday’s doubleheader.  Adamczewski was tied with South Bend’s Owen Ayers for the league lead in homers after the completion of the Wisconsin game on Saturday.

Sunday is the series finale with Yorman Galindez (0-0, 2.25) set as the starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers.  Peoria has named Nate Dohm (0-0, 4.50) as their starter.  Game time at Neuroscience Group Field is 1:10pm. 

The Green Bay Blizzard are preparing for this Saturday at the Resch Center, where they are set to show their alter ego, the Frozen Phoenix, in collaboration with UW-Green Bay. The Frozen Phoenix will be facing off against the Iowa Barnstormers.

The Blizzard and Barnstormers met earlier this season, with the Blizzard coming out on top 50-39. 

The Blizzard are now 3-1, looking to rebound from a 51-36 loss to the Quad City Steamwheelers. In the game, Quarterback Liam Thompson completed 9 of his 16 passes, going for 121 yards, 4 touchdowns, and an interception, also picking up 22 yards on his feet. Two of his touchdown passes went to Terrel Carey, and the other two were slung out to Draysean Hudson and Trevon Alexander. Andrew Mevis had a perfect night, going 2/2 on field goals and making all 4 extra point opportunities.

The Green Bay Packers may not have many picks when they arrive in Pittsburgh for the NFL Draft next week, but they will have a familiar face announcing at least one of them.

The league office announced earlier this week several  former and active players representing all 32 clubs currently scheduled to make selections in Rounds 2 and 3 of this year’s NFL Draft. John Kuhn is among the former players with Pennsylvania ties after playing high school ball in his hometown of York before playing Shippensburg College, which is also located in the Commonwealth. Marques Colston (Harrisburg, representing the New Orleans Saints), James Conner (Erie, representing the Arizona Cardinals), Jim Covert (Conway, representing the Chicago Bears), Tony Dorsett (Rochester, representing the Dallas Cowboys), Bill Maas (Philadelphia, representing the Kansas City Chiefs), Curtis Martin (Pittsburgh, representing the New England Patriots), Pat McAfee (Plum, representing the Indianapolis Colts), Matt Millen (Hokendauqua, representing the Las Vegas Raiders) and Paul Posluszny (Butler, representing the Jacksonville Jaguars) are the other native Pennsylvanians announcing picks. 

The Draft, hosted in the city of Pittsburgh for the first time since the 1948 NFL Draft, begins with Round 1 on Thursday night, April 23, and continues Friday, April 24, with Rounds 2-3. The Draft will conclude on Saturday, April 25, with Rounds 4-7.

The Peoria Chiefs battered the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 24-7 on Thursday night at Neuroscience Group Field.  Tai Peete hit for the cycle and Jesús Báez drove in six runs for the Chiefs in the game.  The 24 runs are the most allowed in a game by a Timber Rattlers team.

Peoria (4-8) scored in every inning except the second frame, and it started as Rainiel Rodriguez continued his assault on Wisconsin pitching with a one-out double in the top of the first.  Rodriguez had three doubles and a triple against the Rattlers in Wednesday’s doubleheader.  Báez followed with an RBI single for the 1-0 lead.

Wisconsin appeared to get out of the inning as Baez looked to be out on an attempt to steal second, but the call was safe and the inning continued.  A balk by pitcher Ethan Dorchies and a passed ball by catcher Blayberg Diaz allowed Baez to score for a 2-0 lead.

The Rattlers (7-4) scored a run without a hit in the bottom of the first.  Braylon Payne drew a walk, went to second on a wild pitch, and stole third.  Andrew Fischer hit a deep drive to center for a sacrifice fly.

In the second, the Rattlers took the lead on a two-out, two-run single by Diaz.

The Chiefs retook the lead in the top of the third.  Rodriguez started the inning with a single.  Then, Báez homered to left for a 4-3 advantage.  Later in the frame, Miguel Villarroel had a two-out single to pad the lead.

Báez drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth and the Chiefs added two runs on a two-out rally in the fifth inning.

Braylon Payne golfed a solo home run to right in the fifth to bring Wisconsin to within 8-4.

A two-out rally in the top of the sixth saw Ian Petrutz deliver an RBI single for Peoria.

The Rattlers fell farther and farther behind in the seventh inning as the Chiefs tacked on ten runs against three Wisconsin pitchers.  Peoria took advantage of five walks in the frame.  Their big hits in the inning were a two-run single by Jose Cordoba and a three-run homer by Peete.

In the bottom of the seventh, Fischer drew a bases-loaded walk and Payne scored on a wild pitch for a pair of Timber Rattlers runs.  Eric Bitonti was up with the bases loaded and no outs when he hit a hard grounder to right.  However, the ball deflected off Josh Adamczewski, the runner at first base for an out.  Bitonti was given a single, but the dead ball put the other runners back on base without a run scoring.  The next two batters were retired and the Wisconsin rally ended.

Peoria poured on the offense when Villarroel hit a grand slam in the eighth for a 22-6 lead.

Fischer picked up his third RBI of the night with a run-scoring single in Wisconsin’s eighth inning.

Juan Baez, Wisconsin’s second baseman, took over on the mound for the top of the ninth to face Peete, who needed a triple for the cycle.  Pete line a pitch to the gap in right-center and didn’t stop running until he touched third to complete the cycle.  Jesús Báez drove in his sixth run of the night with a sacrifice fly for the final run of the game.

The Chiefs were 12-for-24 with runners in scoring position on Thursday.

The Rattlers had not allowed twenty runs in a game since September 2, 2004 when they lost 20-7 the Chiefs at Peoria.  That was also the previous record for the most runs allowed in a game by a Rattlers team.

Friday night is game four of the series at Neuroscience Group Field.  Bryce Meccage (0-0, 4.05) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers.  The Chiefs have chosen Blake Aita (0-0, 3.38) as their starting pitcher.  Game time is 6:40pm.

After two consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament, the Green Bay Athletics Department announced on Wednesday that they would like to see head women's basketball coach Kayla Karius stick around for a long time.

Karius and Green Bay agreed to an contract extension that will see her lead the Phoenix until the 2034-2035 season. She has kept up the tradition of winning at Green Bay that was started by Carol Hammerle and continued by Kevin Borseth and Matt Bollant. Karius has led the Phoenix to a 54-15 overall record, and 36-4 record in Horizon League play. In addition to her conference tournament titles, the trophy case includes a coach of the year award last year and seven All-Horizon League awards for her players, including last year's conference Player of the Year Jenna Guyer.

"She has done an amazing job since her arrival two years ago and truly embodies The Green Bay Way in every aspect of her leadership," said athletic director Josh Moon We are excited to watch her continue to build on the rich tradition of this program and take us to new heights in the years ahead."

Karius was equally thrilled to continue her reign at her alma mater. "This is a destination school for players and for coaches," Karius said. "I fell in love with this program as a young girl and want nothing more than to see it flourish. My family and I are proud to show recruits, current student-athletes, and fans that Green Bay is home!" 

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers grabbed an early lead to defeat the Peoria Chiefs 7-3 in game one of a doubleheader at Neuroscience Group Field on Wednesday afternoon.  Wisconsin score two runs in each of the first three innings to take that early lead.

The Timber Rattlers (6-3) took advantage of two walks and a double steal.  Marco Dinges and Josh Adamczewski had consecutive RBI singles with one out to give Wisconsin the early 2-0 lead.

Braylon Payne stepped to the plate in the bottom of the second inning with Luis Castillo on second and Josiah Ragsdale on third.  Payne singled sharply to center to score Ragsdale.  Payne would get caught in a rundown between first and second long enough to allow Castillo to score.

Josh Adamczewski cracked a lead-off home run in the bottom of the third inning to extend the Wisconsin lead and knock Peoria starter Nolan Sparks out of the game.  Later in the third, Castillo added to the lead with a sacrifice fly.

The Chiefs (3-7) rallied in the fourth inning against reliever Quinton Low.  Jalin Flores reached on a one-out triple and Low walked the next two hitters to load the bases.  José Suárez followed with a three-run double, and Wisconsin’s lead was cut in half.

Daniel Dickinson got one of those runs back with a two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.

Jesus Flores, Wisconsin’s third pitcher of the game, worked around a bases-loaded jam in the top of the fifth to maintain the lead.  The top of the sixth opened with a single.  Flores avoided trouble when Andrew Fischer snagged a liner to third and doubled the runner off first for a double play.  Payne made a diving catch in center for the final out of the inning.

The first two Peoria batters of the seventh inning reached against Bryan Rivera to threaten the comeback.  However, Rivera got the final three outs to close out the game

Adamczewski drove in two runs for the Rattlers.  Payne reached base four times with two singles, a walk, and a hit batsman.  He also added two steals, a run, and an RBI.

Late home runs by Josiah Ragsdale, Marco Dinges, and Josh Adamczewski brought the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers back from deficits of 4-1 and 5-4 and propelled them to a 6-5 victory over the Peoria Chiefs in game two of Wednesday’s doubleheader at Neuroscience Group Field.  The win, coupled with a 7-3 Rattlers win in game one, gave Wisconsin a doubleheader sweep of the Chiefs.

Peoria (3-8) grabbed the early lead.  Won-Bin Cho was hit by a pitch to start the game.  Rainiel Rodriguez lined a triple to right-center to drive in Cho.  An RBI grounder off the bat of Jalin Flores drove in Rodriguez for a 2-0 advantage.

Sammy Hernandez added a run for the Chiefs in the top of the second with an RBI grounder.  In the third, José Suárez lined a two-out, solo homer to left for a 4-0 lead.

Wisconsin (7-3) had runners at the corners with no outs in the bottom of the third inning.  David Garcia grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to get the run home from third.

Tanner Franklin, the Chiefs starting pitcher, struck out three straight Rattlers to retire the side in order in the bottom of the fourth to give him six strikeouts.  He went back out for the fifth but was not as fortunate.

Adamczewski started the frame reaching on a hit batsman.  Eric Bitonti hit a high popup to left field that was dropped by Suárez for an error.  That brought Ragsdale to the plate as the tying run.  Ragsdale launched a three-run run home run deep to right to even the score 4-4.

The Chiefs went back into the lead in the top of the sixth.  Jose Cordoba drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out RBI single to center.

Peoria reliever Christian Worley got the first out of the bottom of the sixth but hung a 3-2 pitch to Dinges.  The Rattlers designated hitter crushed the ball off the videoboard for his second homer of the season and a tie game.

Adamczewski, who had homered in game one of Wednesday’s twinbill, followed with a long home run to give Wisconsin its first lead of the nightcap.

Michael Fowler pitched around a lead-off walk in the seventh to close out the game and the doubleheader sweep.

Game three of the series is set for Thursday night at Neuroscience Group Field.  Ethan Dorchies (0-1, 9.95) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers.  Peoria places Leonel Sequera (0-0, 6.75) on the mound to start.  Game time is 6:40pm CDT.

 The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers were three outs from a doubleheader sweep of the Quad Cities River Bandits on Sunday afternoon at Modern Woodmen Park.  However, the top of the Quad Cities order collected three straight singles and scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh without making an out to defeat the Rattlers 7-6 in walkoff fashion.

Wisconsin (5-3) loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the second inning.  Josiah Ragsdale knocked in a run with a ground out for the lead.

Tyriq Kemp tied the game with a two-out, solo home run in the bottom of the second for the Bandits (2-4).

The Rattlers, who won the opener 5-3, went back in front in the top of the third.  Luis Castillo’s sacrifice fly drove in the go-ahead run.  Later in the frame, Luis Peña knocked in a pair of runs with a triple for a 4-1 lead.  Peña, who went 2-for-4 in game one, was not in the starting lineup for game two.  He would enter the game as a pinch runner for Daniel Guilarte in the top of the second.

Quad Cities responded in the bottom of the third inning with two runs against Wisconsin starting pitcher Braylon Owens.  Nolan Sailors drew a lead-off walk and scored on an RBI double by Ramon Ramirez.  Owens would throw a two-out wild pitch later in the inning to let Ramirez score.

A wild pitch by Hunter Alberini allowed Marco Dinges to score in the top of the fourth inning for the Rattlers.  Peña made it 6-3 in the top of the fifth with an RBI double.

José Nova entered the game for Wisconsin to pitch the bottom of the fifth inning and struck out the first two batters he faced.  However, he would walk Blake Mitchell, give up a single to Ramirez, and throw a wild pitch to let Mitchell score.  Then, Luke Pelzer singled to drive in Ramirez to cut Wisconsin’s lead to 6-5.

Bjorn Johnson, Wisconsin’s fourth pitcher of game two, pitched around a lead-off walk in the bottom of the sixth to maintain the lead.  The bottom of the seventh was a different story.

Sailors started the winning rally with a single.  Mitchell followed with a single to move Sailors to third.  Johnson threw a wild pitch to let Sailors score the tying run and move Mitchell to second.  A few pitches later, Ramirez singled to center to send Mitchell home with the game-winning run.

The loss in the nightcap spoiled an excellent game for Peña, the #2 prospect of the Milwaukee Brewers.  In a game he didn’t start, Peña was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and three RBI.  Including game one, Peña was 5-for-7 on Sunday.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers spotted the Quad Cities River Bandits an early lead before coming back to hand the Bandits a 5-2 defeat in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader at Modern Woodmen Park.

Quad Cities (1-4) took advantage of a pair of walks Wisconsin starting pitcher Wande Torres issued to start the bottom of the second.  Erick Torres drove in both runners later in the frame with a single for the 2-0 advantage.

Tayden Hall started the Wisconsin comeback with a lead-off home run in the top of the third.  Juan Baez and Luis Peña followed with singles.  Andrew Fischer drove in Baez with a sacrifice fly to tie the game.  Eric Bitonti gave the Rattlers the lead with an RBI double to score Peña.

Wisconsin (5-2) added to their lead with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

David Garcia launched a solo home run in the fourth.  It was his first home run since August 18, 2023.

In the fifth, Peña singled, stole second, and moved to third on a flyout to right.  Daniel Dickinson drove in Peña with an infield single for a 5-2 lead.

Wande Torres turned the game over to Yerlin Rodriguez with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Rodriguez got the final out of the fourth but made it interesting in the Quad Cities fifth.

Rodriguez walked the first two batters in the bottom of the fifth before striking out the next three to maintain the lead.

Yorman Galindez worked the sixth and seventh innings out of the Wisconsin bullpen with the only hiccup being a two-out, solo home run by Trevor Werner in the seventh.  Galindez earned the save in closing out the opening game of Sunday’s twinbill.

Peña went 2-or-3 with a stolen base and two runs in game one.  This was his third multi-hit game of the season.

The Timber Rattlers are off on Monday.  They return to action at Neuroscience Group Field on Tuesday night to start a series with the Peoria Chiefs.  Travis Smith (1-0, 1.80) is slated to start for Wisconsin.  Peoria has named Nolan Sparks (1-1, 2.46) as their starting pitcher.  Game time is 6:40pm.

Saturday night’s Midwest League game between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park has been postponed by rain.  The teams will wrap up their series on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader to make up for the rainout.  Game one of the twinbill is set to start at noon.

The teams will play two seven-inning games on Sunday with game one played to a conclusion.  The second game will start approximately thirty minutes after the end of game one.

The Green Bay Gamblers' 2025-26 season is over after falling to the Madison Capitols 2-1 in overtime Saturday night in front of 3,117 fans at Resch Center.

The Gamblers had a chance to force a second overtime but couldn't find the net, as Madison's Jack Pittsley ended it just 58 seconds into the extra period off a feed from Bergeson to send Green Bay home for the summer.

It was a tight, evenly matched game throughout. Both teams finished with 26 shots on goal and neither converted on the power play. Madison went 0-for-3 on the man advantage while Green Bay didn't get a chance all night.

Green Bay held the shot advantage in the first period 10-3 but couldn't get on the board. Madison struck first in the second when Geerdes netted his second of the year at 7:48. The Gamblers answered quickly, as Wooten tipped in his second of the season at 9:34 off assists from Jette and O'Malley to knot it at one. Neither team could break through in the third, setting up the overtime heartbreaker.

Gamblers goalie Henriquez was solid all night, stopping 24 of 26 shots in a strong effort in what turned out to be the final game of the season. It's a tough finish for a great season in Green Bay.

The Green Bay Gamblers dropped Game 1 of the playoffs Friday night, falling 2-1 to The Madison Capitols despite controlling the pace of play most of the night. Now, it’s a must-win situation heading into Game 2 at the Resch Center on Saturday night.

The Gamblers came out strong early and were rewarded midway through the first when Will Wooten cashed in on the power play giving Green Bay a brief 1-0 lead.

Madison answered just over two minutes later, tying it up before the end of the period despite being heavily outshot.

The second period turned the game. After killing off pressure for most of the night, Green Bay ran into penalty trouble late and Madison capitalized on the power play with under two minutes left in the period to take a 2-1 lead.

Green Bay pushed in the third, outshooting Madison and generating chances, but couldn’t solve the goalie and they fell in the series first game. 

The Gamblers finished with a 37-13 edge in shots, but Raul “Junior” Henriquez only faced limited action on the other end. Madison’s goalie turned aside 36 shots and was the difference.

Green Bay now faces a must-win Game 2 Saturday night at the Resch Center, with puck drop set for 6:05 in this best-of-three series.

The Gibraltar, Kewaunee, and Sturgeon Bay track and field teams will compete in an invitational meet in Denmark on Saturday.

The Gibraltar track team made plenty of noise in its first outdoor track meet of the season in Algoma. On the boys' side, Sean Neal was a part of two event wins, comfortably posting the best 100m time of the day while joining Hudson Fitzgerald, Jake Larson, and Matthew Seabright for a win in the 4x100m relay. On the girls' side, Azucena Jauregui captured wins in the 100m and 300m hurdles events while Josie Martin earned a win in the shot put.

The Kewaunee boys track team boasted 11 Top-3 finishes to win the Purple Power Track Meet hosted by Marinette on Thursday. The Storm scored 98.5 points, more than 10 points better than Green Bay West (87) and host Marinette. Joseph Schlies had the biggest day of the team, winning the 800m and triple jump individually while also being a part of the victorious 4x400m and 4x800m relays. Mitchell Boeder (shot put) and Garrett Lefevre (discus) also posted wins. On the girls' side, the quartet of Addison Kudick, Kamber Tulachka, Alison Kuehl, and Penelope Gerold helped the Storm win the 4x100m and 4x200m for the Storm's two event wins. 

Other schools in attendance include Menasha, Pulaski, Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, Howards Grove, Kohler, Omro, St. Francis, and Wrightstown.

The Green Bay Rockers have signed four pitchers to deepen their roster. Right-hander Toby Kwon will be joined by left-handers Jayden Martin, Kayden Hartunian, and Dalton Forck.

Toby Kwon, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound freshman at Golden West College, will join the Rockers for the 2026 season. In four appearances this spring, he compiled a 2-0 record with a 0.64 ERA. In 14 innings, he struck out 15 batters while allowing five hits and three walks.

Jayden Martin, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound redshirt junior at Georgia State University, spent last summer with the Rockers. With Green Bay, Martin pitched 7.1 innings, striking out five batters. At Georgia State, he made 11 appearances, recording 37 strikeouts and a 3.38 ERA.

Kayden Hartunian, a 6-foot, 215-pound sophomore at Dyersburg Community College, has appeared in nine games, making eight starts. This spring, he has posted a 4-3 record with a 4.66 ERA. In 36.2 innings, he has struck out 42 batters while walking 16.

Dalton Forck, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound sophomore at Three Rivers Community College, has made 12 appearances, including eight starts, this spring, pitching 37.1 innings. He has struck out 43 batters while walking 17.

The Green Bay Blizzard have picked up linebacker Brian Lee for the remainder of the 2026 IFL season.

Lee, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker, is entering his second year of indoor football. Last season, Lee played for the Quad City Steamwheelers, appearing in nine games and recording 31 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.

Before the IFL, Lee spent his collegiate career at the University of Maine. He appeared in 21 games, totaling 97 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one pass deflection.

Ed Blaine, a former guard for the Green Bay Packers, has died at age 86 due to illness.

The Packers drafted Blaine in the second round of the 1962 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Blaine appeared in all 14 games as the Packers won their second straight NFL championship under coach Vince Lombardi.

After his tenure in Green Bay, Blaine finished his professional career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team has announced the signing of senior forward Jorey Buwalda.

Buwalda, a 6-foot Wisconsin native, spent her first three seasons of collegiate hoops with Milwaukee. Last season, she led the Panthers in scoring with 12.1 points per game to go along with 8.7 rebounds, earning All-Horizon League third-team honors.

The Green Bay Gamblers are gearing up for this weekend as they are set to host the Madison Capitols in a three-game series for the first round of the 2026 USHL Clark Cup Playoffs. 

The Gamblers enter this contest as the No.3 seed, holding a 38-18 record. The Gamblers have dominated the season series against the Capitols, winning seven of their eight matchups.

A rainy night at Modern Woodmen Park saw the Quad Cities River Bandits pour on the offense in two big innings to hand the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers an 11-1 loss on Thursday.  A five-run first inning by the Bandits put the Rattlers on the back foot, and missed opportunities left Wisconsin unable to dig out of the early hole before a late offensive spurt by the hosts ended hope of a comeback.

Quad Cities (1-2) sent eleven men to the plate in the bottom of the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.  Blake Mitchell, the second batter of the inning, hit a two-run home run to right-center.  Ramon Ramirez made it back-to-back homers with a home run to right for a 3-0 lead.

One out later, Jose Cerice singled to right and took second on an error.  Derlin Figueroa singled to left with two outs to score Cerice.  Later in the inning, another error allowed Figueroa to score for the 5-0 lead.

Wisconsin (3-2) rallied for a run in the top of the second.  Luis Castillo grounded into a force play at second with runners at the corners to get a run home.  There were runners at first and second with a chance for more runs, but a 4-6-3 double play ended the opportunity.

The Timber Rattlers had several more chances through the middle innings, including a lead-off single in the third, runners at first and second to start the fourth, and runners at first and second with one out in the seventh.  Wisconsin was turned away each time.

The River Bandits put the game out of reach in the bottom of the seventh as their first six hitters of the inning reached base and all six scored.  An error allowed the first run to cross the plate.  Jose Cerice drove in a run with a bases-loaded single.  Austin Charles had a two-run double, and Tyriq Kemp capped the inning with a two-out, two-run single for an 11-1 lead.

The loss ended Wisconsin’s three-game winning streak.  The Rattlers did themselves no favors with four errors on the defensive side.  The offense managed four hits, went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, and struck out twelve times.

Juan Baez had a pair of singles in the game for Wisconsin.

Game four of the series is set for Friday night.  Bryce Meccage (0-0, 10.13) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers.  Aiden Jimenez is set to start for Quad Cities.  Game time is 6:30pm.

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has made multiple moves to strengthen the roster for the upcoming 2027 NFL season.

The Packers re-signed center Sean Rhyan along with other veteran linemen with expiring contracts. They also traded for former All-Pro linebacker Zaire Franklin and added two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, cornerback Benjamin St-Juste and receiver/returner Skyy Moore in March.

According to Over the Cap, Green Bay is expected to receive four compensatory picks in the 2027 NFL Draft due to the departures of quarterback Malik Willis (projected fourth round), receiver Romeo Doubs (fourth), linebacker Quay Walker (fifth) and edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare (sixth) as unrestricted free agents.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers were being no-hit through 5-2/3 innings on Wednesday night at Modern Woodmen Park against the Quad Cities River Bandits.  That didn’t faze the Rattlers as they were backed by solid pitching before the offense exploded for five runs in the top of the sixth and four more in the top of the seventh for a 9-1 victory.

Jason Woodward was the starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers.  He was making his first appearance since August 30, 2024 as he was making his way back after Tommy John Surgery.  Woodward allowed two hits, walked none, and struck out four on 39 pitches in 2-2/3 innings.

Justin Lamkin, the starter for the River Bandits, kept Wisconsin in check for four innings of no-hit ball.  The left-hander walked two and struck out six.

Quad Cities (0-2) had a good chance to score in the bottom of the fifth inning as the first two batters reached against reliever Travis Smith.  The right-hander escaped on a failed sacrifice bunt that wound up as a foul pop, a force play at second, and a weak grounder to Smith for a 1-3 putout.

Wisconsin (3-1) broke through in the sixth against Josh Hansell, who had retired the first five batters he faced after relieving Lamkin to start the fifth inning. 

Braylon Payne started the rally with two outs in the sixth with a single inside the bag at third.  He would steal second and was running on a 3-2 pitch to Luis Peña.

Peña ripped a single through the left side of the infield and Payne scored for the 1-0 lead.

Andrew Fischer struck out, but a dropped third strike allowed him to reach and Peña, who had stolen second bases, to take third base.  Then, Marco Dinges hit a rocket just over the head of the base umpire and just out of the reach of Tyriq Kemp at second base for an RBI single and a 2-0 lead.

Josh Adamczewski followed with a long, opposite field home run to left field for a 5-0 score.  The homer was Adamczewski’s first in the Midwest League.

In the seventh, three walks loaded the bases for Fischer, and he unloaded them with a home run to left-center for a grand slam and a 9-0 advantage.

Smith had to work through a bases loaded, one out situation in the bottom of the seventh after two errors and a single but he managed to keep the Bandits off the scoreboard.

Blake Mitchell spoiled Wisconsin’s hopes of a second straight shutout of the Bandits when he hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. 

The Timber Rattlers have won three straight games.

Game three of the series is Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park.  Ethan Dorchies (0-0, 4.50) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers.  Quad Cities has named Emmanuel Reyes (0-0, 0.00) as their starter.  Game time is 6:30pm. 

The Green Bay Glory have recently announced that they will be welcoming midfielder James Dorchester for the upcoming 2026 MWPL season. 

Dorchester is a Green Bay native who played his high school years at De Pere. During his tenure there, De Pere made three WIAA State appearances. He was also the 2023 conference player of the year, a 3-time 1st-team all-conference selection, and a 2-time all-state selection. 
 

A breezy and cold Tuesday evening at Modern Woodmen Park ended up being a really good night for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.  Four Wisconsin pitchers combined for seventeen strikeouts as the Rattlers won 6-0 to spoil the Quad Cities River Bandits home opener.

Wisconsin (2-1) took the lead with a two-out rally in the top of the second inning.  Quad Cities starting pitcher David Shields walked Josiah Ragsdale and Juan Baez after striking out the first two Wisconsin batters of the inning.  Braylon Payne and Luis Peña followed with consecutive RBI singles for the 2-0 advantage.

There was an eleven-minute delay heading into the bottom of the third inning.  Plate umpire Tanya Millette had two foul tips hit her in the mask earlier in the game.  She had stayed in the game at the time.  However, base umpire Nicholas Saxton changed into the gear to allow him to go behind the plate after the top of the third.  Millette would umpire the bases briefly before leaving the game.  Saxton would finish the game as the lone umpire.

Timber Rattlers starting pitcher Yorman Galindez had four strikeouts over two innings with just thirty pitches and was staying loose during the pause in the action while Saxton got ready to work the plate.  The Rattlers would decide to bring Bjorn Johnson on in relief when play resumed.

Johnson allowed one hit while striking out three in his one inning of work before turning the game over to Braylon Owens, a tenth round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2025 draft out of the University of Texas-San Antonio who was making his professional debut in this appearance.

Owens, who last pitched in a game on June 8, 2025, struck out eight over 4-1/3 scoreless innings while walking two and allowing two hits to hold the Bandits in check.

The Wisconsin offense added to the lead with two runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh.

In the sixth, Marco Dinges doubled and took third on a wild pitch open the inning.  Josh Adamczewski walked.  Then, Eric Bitonti singled to knock in Dinges.  A two-out error would allow Adamczewski to score later in the inning to make the score 4-0.

In the seventh, Payne and Peña started the frame with a pair of singles.  They would both move into scoring position on a wild pitch that forced Quad Cities to bring their infield in on the grass.  Andrew Fischer took advantage of the defensive positioning and ripped a single to right to drive in a pair of runs.

Jesus Flores took over for Owens with one out in the bottom of the eighth.  Flores struck out two and walked one in 1-2/3 scoreless innings to conclude the shutout.

Payne and Peña both went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI to lead the offense.

Quad Cities (0-1) had chances early against Galindez, Johnson, and Owens, but left a runner in scoring position in each of the first five innings.  The Bandits stranded eight runners and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Game two of the series is Wednesday evening at Modern Woodmen Park.  Jason Woodward is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers.  Quad Cities will counter with Justin Lamkin.  Both pitchers are making their 2026 debuts.  Game time is 6:30pm.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are on the road Tuesday to face the Quad Cities River Bandits.

The Timber Rattlers look to build off an 8-7 win over the Beloit Sky Carp. Three players hit home runs in that game: Braylon Payne, Marco Dinges, and Eric Bitoni. Dinges drove in Daniel Guilarte, while Bitoni brought home Andrew Fischer and Tayden Hall.

First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.

The Beloit Sky Carp rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 5-4 in game one of a doubleheader at Neuroscience Group Field on Saturday afternoon in the season opening game for both teams.

Wisconsin (0-1) took advantage of five walks, five wild pitches, and a balk to score three times in the bottom of the first inning.

Braylon Payne drew a leadoff walk against Beloit starting pitcher Liomar Rodriguez.  Then, Rodriguez threw three straight wild pitches with Luis Peña at the plate to allow Payne to come around and score the first run of the game.

Rodriguez walked the next two batters to load the bases before uncorking another wild pitch to allow Peña to score the second run of the game.

A balk followed moments later to let in Wisconsin’s third run.

The Rattlers made the score 4-0 with a run in the bottom of the second.  Peña walked with one out and went to third on a single by Andrew Fischer.  The duo pulled a double steal with Peña breaking for the plate on the throw to second.  Peña was able to beat the return throw to the plate to score.

Beloit (1-0) bounced back in the top of the third.  Wisconsin starting pitcher Bryce Meccage gave up back-to-back singles to start the inning before Brandon Compton lined into a double play.  However, Meccage walked the next two batters to load the bases and end his day.

Yerlin Rodriguez took over on the mound for Wisconsin but walked Drew Faurot to force in a run.  Cody Schrier followed with a two-run single to right to cut Wisconsin’s lead to one run.

In the top of the sixth, Beloit tied the game against Wande Torres, the third Wisconsin pitcher of the game.  The bases were loaded with one out after two walks and a single when Torres hit Chase Jaworsky with a pitch to force in the tying run.

Michael Fowler relieved Torres and struck out the next two batters to keep the game tied.

Connor Caskenette untied the score with a lead-off home run against Fowler in the top of the seventh.

The Rattlers had a chance in the bottom of the seventh.  Peña started the frame with a walk and Josh Adamczewski put runners on the corners with a one-out single.  Beloit pitcher Juan Reynoso escaped the jam with a strikeout and a ground out to end the game and collect the save.

The pitchers of both teams combined for 23 walks while the hitters went a combined 1-for-19 with runners in scoring position on a frigid afternoon.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers hit three homers and rode a two-out, five-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning to rally past the Beloit Sky Carp in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader at Neuroscience Group Field.  The home team also withstood a late rally from Beloit to earn an 8-7 victory.

Braylon Payne powered Wisconsin (1-1) to the lead in the bottom of the first with a lead-off home run to right-center.

Beloit (1-1) bounced back to take the lead on a two-out, two-run double by Starlyn Caba in the top of the third.

The Timber Rattlers used the long ball to go back in front in their half of the third.  Marco Dinges launched a long, two-run home run to left-center .

Caba struck again in the top of the fifth with a two-run single to vault the Sky Carp to a 4-3 lead.

The chances of a comeback looked bleak for the Rattlers in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs and none on base after Beloit reliever Brayan Mendoza struck out the first two Wisconsin batters of the frame.  Then, Mendoza walked Daniel Dickinson, hit Dinges, and walked Andrew Fischer to load the bases.

The Sky Carp called for reliever Xavier Cardenas to get them out of the jam.  It appeared that he would do that when Tayden Hall sent a popup to foul territory near third base.  The wind had other ideas as it blew the ball back into fair territory and out of the reach of Beloit third baseman Wilfredo Lara.  The ball dropped in for a two-run single and a 5-4 Rattlers advantage.

Eric Bitonti drilled the next pitch into the Wisconsin bullpen for a three-run home run and a comfortable 8-4 lead.

Beloit would load the bases with two outs in their last at bat during the seventh on three walks by Jesus Flores.  Cam Cannarella made it close with a two-run single.  Wilson Weber tightened the game to a one run with an RBI single to force Wisconsin to go to Bryan Rivera to close out the contest.

Rivera earned the save by getting the final out on a deep fly to center.  That earned the split in the doubleheader.

 They will return to action on Tuesday against the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa.  Game time is 6:30pm. 

You will not have to go far to watch the Green Bay Gamblers in the playoffs and their first-round playoff opponent will not have to travel far either.

The USHL announced the first round matchups for the league playoffs over the weekend, placing the #3 Gamblers vs. the #6 Madison Capitols a week after the two teams wrapped up a home-and-home series to put a cap on the regular season. The Gamblers won those games by scores of 3-2 and 3-1 and they are 7-1 against their in-state rivals this year.

The Gamblers will host the best-of-three series beginning on Friday. You can find the full USHL Playoff schedule.

The Green Bay Gamblers capped off their regular season in style Saturday night at the Resch Center, knocking off the Madison Capitols 3-1 in front of 7,219 fans to close the year at 21-9-2-2.

Green Bay came out firing, outshooting Madison 13-9 in the first period and setting the tone early. Gulley opened the scoring just over two minutes in on a power play, his 24th of the season. Madison answered late in the first as Stout evened it at one on a power play of their own.

The second period was physical as both teams combined for six penalties in the middle frame, including a pair of roughing calls assessed simultaneously. Through all the chaos, Wooten found a way to put Green Bay back in front at 12:39, his 35th of the year.

A flurry of penalties were assessed in the final three minutes of the third and things got heated as the clock wound down. Green Bay's Katz put it away with an empty net goal at 17:58 to seal it.

Henriquez was sharp in net for the Gamblers, turning away 21 of 22 shots. Madison's Cruitt stopped 29 of 32 in the loss. Green Bay held a commanding 32-22 edge in shots on goal and went one for four on the power play while holding Madison to one for five.

Madison seals their season with the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference meanwhile the Gamblers rally from a rough spot in the second half finishing third with 82 points overall. 

The Green Bay Blizzard stayed perfect on the season Saturday night, rolling past the Iowa Barnstormers 50-39 at Casey's Center in Des Moines to improve to 3-0.

Green Bay came out of the gate dominant, outscoring Iowa 23-0 in the first quarter and never looking back. The Barnstormers began chipping away after the scoreless first, but Green Bay always had an answer when it mattered most.

Quarterback Liam Thompson enlisted damage through the air, finishing 10-of-18 for 140 yards and three touchdowns without a turnover. His top target was Draysean Hudson, who hauled in four catches for 85 yards and a score, including a long of 40. Trevon Alexander added two catches for 30 yards and a touchdown, and Kairee Robinson reeled in a receiving score as well.

The rushing attack contributed four touchdowns on the ground, with Demilon Brown leading the way with 29 yards and a score on five carries. Alexander and Sylvere Campbell each ran for a score as well.

Iowa's Harry Roubidoux kept the Barnstormers in it with a big day airing it out, finishing 18-of-33 for 194 yards and six touchdowns, but he also made a mistake that Reggie Bracy corralled for the Blizzard turnover. Kurtis Ravenel was Roubidoux's top target with four catches for 47 yards and three scores.

Defensively, Trenton McGhee led Green Bay with nine tackles, two for loss and as a whole the team finished with seven total tackles for loss on the night. Andrew Mevis went six for seven on extra points, though he missed all three field goal attempts on the night.

The Blizzard head back out on the road next Saturday, April 11th, for a conference showdown with the Quad City Steamwheelers at Vibrant Arena at the Mark. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM CDT.

The Green Bay Blizzard is hitting the road this Saturday to face the Iowa Barnstormers. The Barnstormers are entering this match 0-1.

The Blizzard got off to a hot start to the season, winning their first two games. Most recently, taking down the Fisher Freight 51-41. Paving the way for the Blizzard was quarterback Liam Thompson, throwing for 141 yards and 3 touchdowns, also picking up 85 yards and 4 touchdowns on his feet. Draysean Hudson took his only two receptions for 65 yards and 2 touchdowns. 

The kick-off is at 7 p.m.
 

The Green Bay Gamblers picked up a big road win Friday night, taking down the Madison Capitols 3-2 at Bob Suter's Legacy20 Arena in Middleton. 

It was a tight, defensive game for the most part, but the third period delivered all the drama as four of the game's five goals came in a wild final frame.

Green Bay struck first, getting on the board late in the opening period when Knutson potted his 13th goal of the season at 17:37, assisted by Martin and Brady. The second period came and went without a goal from either side, though the penalty box saw plenty of traffic. 

The third period opened with Madison striking quickly. Kwajah scored 43 seconds in on a power play, his seventh of the year. 

Green Bay answered on their own power play at 12:53 when Carcone notched his 13th of the season, with O'Sullivan and Katz as helpers. Just 44 seconds later, Drabicki made it 3-1 Green Bay with his ninth goal of the year off a feed from Jette. 

Madison refused to go quietly, as Pittsley pulled the Capitols back within one at 14:23 on a goal from Pittsley, but the Gamblers held on from there.

Green Bay goalie Henriquez was solid when he needed to be, stopping 18 of 20 shots to earn the win. Madison's Heil turned aside 15 of 18 shots in a losing effort. The Capitols held a 20-18 edge in shots on goal, but Green Bay made the ones that counted.

Another battle will ensue Saturday night at the Resch Center to close out the regular season with puck drop at 6:05 pm CDT.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Beloit Sky Carp will try to start their 2026 season again tomorrow afternoon. Friday’s doubleheader at Neuroscience Group Field was rained out.  The in-state Midwest League rivals will have scheduled a doubleheader for Saturday.  Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:10pm.

A minor league doubleheader consists of two seven-inning games.  The first game will be played to its conclusion.  There will be a minimum break of 30 minutes from the end of game one to the start of the nightcap.

The game that was rained out on April 2 will not be rescheduled.  Wisconsin and Beloit do not meet again during the first half of the season.

The Green Bay Glory have announced they will welcome back goalkeeper Aaron Lambert for the 2026 season.

Lambert, a Green Bay native, is entering his second season with the Glory. He began his collegiate career at Wisconsin Lutheran before transferring to UW-Green Bay, where he currently plays.

The Green Bay Blizzard have signed running back Kariee Robinson for the remainder of the 2026 IFL season.

The 5-foot-8, 200-pound running back is entering his rookie season in the IFL. Robinson spent his collegiate career at San Jose State, appearing in 54 games and totaling 2,713 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns on 513 attempts, along with 708 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 90 receptions. After college, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in July 2024. He played in three preseason games before being waived.

The NFL has announced the offseason workout program dates for each team. The offseason workout program is a nine-week voluntary program for players focused on strength, conditioning and skill instruction.

The Packers’ first day is April 20, and their OTA (organized team activities) offseason workouts are May 26-27, May 29, June 1-2, June 4, June 15-16 and June 18. Green Bay will also host a mandatory minicamp from June 9-11.

The Packers will also have a post-draft rookie minicamp the first or second week following the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Green Bay Gamblers are wrapping up their season this weekend, taking on the Madison Capitols for the final two games of the regular season. Friday's game will be played on the road in Madison, while Saturday's will be hosted at the Resch Center in Green Bay. 

The Gamblers' last outing saw them taking down the Tri-City Storm 5-2. Goals in the game came from Chase Jette, Nate Bienstock, Elliot Gulley, Landon Hafele, and Nick Knutson. Goalie Leo Henriquez was awarded the win, saving 25/27 shots sent his way.

The Green Bay Rockers have signed six positional players for the upcoming Northwoods League season. The additions include infielders Seungmin Shin (New Mexico Military Institute), Ryan Soong (Washington University in St. Louis), Payton Fort (Georgia Gwinnett) and Eric Fernandez (Tallahassee State), along with catcher Caden Mitchell (Weatherford College) and utility player Zach Novakowski (Ramapo College).

Seungmin Shin — 6-0, 182 — Sophomore

Shin is having a standout spring at New Mexico Military Institute. In 34 games, he is batting .500 and leads the team with seven triples, 15 home runs, 57 runs scored and 49 RBIs. He also leads the team with a .619 on-base percentage, aided by 25 walks, and ranks second with 53 hits.

Ryan Soong — 5-8, 180 — Sophomore

Soong is building on a strong freshman season, appearing in 18 games this spring and batting .397 with a .524 on-base percentage. He has stolen 11 bases in 13 attempts while hitting two home runs and driving in 13 runs. As a freshman, he appeared in 34 games and hit .327 with 34 hits, two home runs and 11 RBIs.

Payton Fort — 6-1, 200 — Junior

Fort is playing this spring at NAIA powerhouse Georgia Gwinnett, where he has compiled a .405 batting average with five home runs and 36 RBIs through 34 games. He has also drawn 26 walks and struck out 12 times, contributing to a .535 on-base percentage, along with 22 stolen bases.

Eric Fernandez — 6-3, 205 — Redshirt Sophomore

Fernandez has appeared in 41 games for Tallahassee State this season and is batting .309 while leading the team with 47 hits. The left-handed hitter was ranked the No. 5 junior college shortstop in the country entering the 2026 season.

Caden Mitchell — 6-1, 205 — Redshirt Sophomore

Mitchell is the No. 1 junior college catching prospect in the country and the No. 17 overall player. He has appeared in 28 games this spring for Weatherford College, batting .270 with five home runs and a .405 on-base percentage. The University of Oklahoma commit appeared in 40 games as a redshirt freshman, hitting .343 with five home runs and 28 RBIs.

Zach Novakowski — UTIL — 5-10, 190 — Junior

In his third season at Ramapo College, Novakowski has appeared in 18 games this spring, hitting .281 with two home runs and 20 RBIs. Last season, he started 43 games and recorded a .305 batting average with a .519 slugging percentage. He ranked third on the team with 47 hits, including 15 doubles, three triples and four home runs.

The Green Bay Blizzard have announced the signing of defensive back Trenton McGhee (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) for the remainder of the 2026 IFL season.

McGhee began his collegiate career playing baseball at Florida International University. He switched to football in 2016 but sat out two seasons. He saw limited action in 2018. After that season, McGhee transferred to Alabama A&M, where he played from 2019 to 2021.

At Alabama A&M, the defensive back appeared in nine games and recorded 35 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and two pass breakups.

His professional career began in 2024 with the Jacksonville Sharks, as both he and the team made their IFL debuts. That season, he appeared in seven games, recording 34 tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups.

McGhee is expected to make his Blizzard debut Saturday when the team travels to face the Iowa Barnstormers.

As the Green Bay Glory trickles out its rosters for the 2026 campaign, a familiar face has emerged in the net.

The team announced that Haakon Utesch will return to men's side for its third season. Before graduating from William Penn University, Utesch was a two-time first-team unanimous goalkeeper of the year at Algoma, leading the state in saves.

The Glory's season begins in May.

The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team is saying goodbye to a lot of faces as they search for possible greener pastures, but one big name is coming back.

The team announced that Marcus Hall will return for his senior season after being a major contributor to the Phoenix over the last three years.

Hall's return balances some of the notable departures that have been reported in recent weeks, including C.J. O'Hara, Ramel Bethea, and Caden Wilkins.

The program also lost an assistant coach this week after Keil Ganz was hired by Northern Michigan to be their next head coach.

The earliest scheduled game in Wisconsin Timber Rattlers history has been postponed due to an unfavorable weather forecast of ice, rain, and frigid temperatures over the next 24 hours in Northeastern Wisconsin and as a precaution for player and fan safety.  Thursday’s home opener at Neuroscience Group Field between the Timber Rattlers and Beloit Sky Carp has been rescheduled to be part of a doubleheader on Friday evening.  Game one is scheduled to begin at 5:10pm.

A minor league doubleheader consists of two seven-inning games.  The first game will be played to its conclusion.  There will be a minimum break of 30 minutes from the end of game one to the start of the nightcap.

The Southern Door Eagles, Gibraltar Vikings, and Sturgeon Bay Clippers sent their girls track and field teams to Oshkosh Tuesday for the UW-Oshkosh Girls D2 and D3 Meet at the Kolf Physical Education and Sports Center.

Southern Door had a strong showing, winning the Division III team title with 88 points. Sturgeon Bay finished 18th in Division II with 10 points. Gibraltar competed as well with several individual finishers across field events.
