Sister Bay wins on walk-off balk on 105.1 The GOAT

Between the ninth-inning drama and an appearance from Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon, there was enough action to complement the 6-5 Sister Bay win on 105.1 The GOAT.

Dillon threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the start of the game between Sister Bay and Washington Island and then found his way to putting a headset on for a sit-down interview with New Radio Sports Network after signing many items for fans and kids.

The scoring did not begin until the bottom of the second inning when Sister Bay's Stewart Larsen and Griffin Cole were scored on a sacrifice fly from Sawyer Johnson and a wild pitch respectively. Washington Island would come right back, however, as Ben Geiger and Luke Geiger were driven home on a triple from Ray McDonald to tie the game at 2.

Tom Sawyer would score a run again in the 3rd inning, and the score would stay at 3-2 until the top of the sixth inning when Washington Island responded with a triple from Ryan Jorgenson scoring Ben Johnson. Ben Geiger would then triple himself, bringing home Jorgenson and giving Washington Island a 4-3 lead.

However, that lead would not last long as Sister Bay would answer back with three stand-up doubles in a row from Griffin Cole, Sam Forkert, and Sawyer Johnson giving Sister Bay a one-run lead of 5-4.

Washington Island would tie the game up in the top of the ninth inning as an error on Sister Bay's third baseman Stewart Larsen would give Ben Johnson a chance to double in the runner from first base, giving the Island the lead.

The bottom half of the inning would be even more dramatic as Alex Laughlin doubled to start the inning, Matt Hecht would bunt Laughlin over to third, and then Tom Sawyer would be intentionally walked. After Spencer Krause struck out, Stewart Larsen drew a walk, and then Ryan Jorgenson would balk, bringing home Laughlin and winning the game for the Bays.

In Maplewood, the Mets escaped its matchup against Baileys Harbor with a 6-4 win. The Mets plated five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, taking advantage of four walks in the final three innings. Adam Gutschow and J. Jeanquart each drove in a pair of runs. The A's scored all of their runs in the fifth inning with Lodl and J. Burlo each driving in a pair after the Mets scored an opening-inning run. It was a heartbreak for the A's, which nearly broke a two-year losing streak by outhitting the Mets 9-4 and holding a three-run lead into the bottom of the eighth inning.

In other league action, Egg Harbor topped Kolberg 6-1 and West Jacksonport cruised past Institute 12-2.

In the third, it was Spencer Krause singled to center field to bring home Laughlin again, to extend the Bays lead to 2-0. Laughlin would score once again in the 6th inning, as Tom Sawyer got the RBI, his second of the game, making the lead 3-0.

Hect would double, scoring Krause to make it 5-2, and a wild pitch would bring home another runner to make the final score 6-2.

The Kolberg Braves picked up where they left off last year's double championship season with a convincing 18-3 victory over the Maplewood Mets on Sunday afternoon. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the second inning, but it was all Braves after that as they registered six runs over the following two innings and ended the game with scoring stints of four runs in the seventh and six more in the eighth to help end the game an inning short.
